Tihark Orchard
StormDragonZ
Besides Augury Rock in Prophecies, Tihark Orchard, in Nightfall, is the only mission in GW that requires you to do it alone.
How did you feel when you found out that you had to do a mission alone?

Darkobra
Excited. A mission I can do things on my own without relying on heroes/hench.
Olim Chill
I thought it was cool and was up for it. I also like solo quests.
Pyro maniac
I like it, however the bonus is a bit silly
Liked having it one in the story line, but please do not add more =)

I *love* Tihark. I made that the mission that completed Legendary Guardian for me. Love, love, love Tihark. You're going down, silent clown!
MithranArkanere
It was like 'Yay'.
Not for having to make it alone, but for being a mission with minigames as bonus.
Anyone with a minimal IQ would love to fool around once in a while.
But it would be even great to be able to bring party members as 'espectator guests' during solo missions, andjoin others while they make them, to make things like cheering in the Norn tournament.

its ok, but would rather play with my husband (who is NOT a fan of that mission and makes me help him with the emotes every time he gets a character to that one). We got the game to play together, that mission doesnt allow us to do that.

Finally, a mission that the lazy have to do themselves. Nope, can't pay a runner 5k to get you guardian/masters on this one.
Funny story: I didn't buy NF immediately. I waited and got it as a Christmas present. Even then I didn't rush thru the game, but took my time. All thru October and November I heard my guildies and alliance members on Alliance chat saying stuff like:
"Arrrghhhh!!!!"
"What?"
"^&##% Mime!!!!!!"
"ROFL!"
"Ahhh, he's found the mime"
"How the heck do you beat this fricking mime!!!!!???"
"ROFL!!"
"Yeah, we've all been there"
"Gotta love the mime"
"I HATE THIS GAME!!"
Well, by the time my friend and I got around to buying and playing NF, we knew nothing about the game except that there were new "heroes" we could get and somewhere in the game was a rather evil mime that everyone hated.
After about a week of playing we came upon the mime on Istan Island that had stolen all the villagers voices. Better still, this was a "difficulty master" quest. After trying to guard that stupid statue while some NPC ran off to retrieve his junk we had learned to be real leary of any "difficulty master" quest. We also remembered the horror stories we'd heard on alliance chat about the <shudder> Mime.
We loaded up our best skills (um, yeah my level 7 Ele's best was flare and firestorm), gave Koss and Dunky the very best gear available and went in prepared for a battle royale! What a letdown. That guy was a wimp!

It was only annoying because the first time I did it I was on my monk. I felt dirty putting those smiting skills on my bar. >______>

I enjoyed it.
However, my chillhood friend whom I introduced GW to, stopped playing GW completely on that very mission !!!
Last thing I heard from him on ventrilo was something along the lines of : "Hey this looks cool, hey the drunk dwarf is silly and somewhat funny...OK, what does he want me to do...WTH ???...I just want to whack away at foes, this mission is ******, arghhh, wtf ???".
He had fun in it until he got to the mime. He's a very slow typer. So by the time he types in the first mime, the mime is on his 3rd or something.
He eventually tried again like almost a full year after NF launch and failed it again. He asked me to do it for him, which I did, but afterwards he was completely clueless about the storyline, thus he never logged in again since he was no longer hooked !

I thought it was cute, but definitely not mission material. Perhaps "Primary Quest" or "Solo Quest" material though, as they showed in GW:EN through it's extensive questing system.
The term Mission should be reserved for playable content that requires more then one player, and consist of a lengthy time in combat including a "bonus" and separate goals within it, no res points as well (unless the mission is one that revolves around it). Originally Missions were just "Big Quests", but I think Anet has done a fine job with the questing system in GW:EN, so much so, that missions need to be further differentiated as the "main plot pushers" of the GW world.

At first I felt why can't I find a team, then I felt bad because I lost like 5k or whatever it is to give to that npc instead of killing someone for free.
after like 10-12 times of doing it I never got the emote part. Never bothered to learn and prolly never will but it's fine.

I thought it was great fun and a real change of pace.
Nemo the Capitalist
technically u can do it witha pet
Jetdoc
I do almost all missions alone (without heroes or henchmen), so I'm not sure what the big deal is...

I was thrilled!
Part of what I love about this game is that I can venture out into the world alone with nothing but my skills to keep me alive and kicking.
I would really love it if the solo quests in GWEN were repeatable. I only had one chance to kill the Griffon and it went down way to easy.
Tihark Orchard was one of the very few missions in GW that a player actually had to do more than just kill XX number of foes to win. This is part of what makes a game a great game!

I liked it A LOT. All the really bad players who use mending and just grind through the game by getting onto another players groups and rely on other people get them through get stuck on it. You have to be able to *gasp* read dialogue.

I thought Tihark Orchard was clever and original. I did not appreciate the mime duel, however. There is one emote -- can't remember what it looks like (sorta like "/boo" only it isn't "/boo") -- that causes me to FAIL every time he does it. But I just keep repeating the duel until he does ten emotes I recognize.
I think ArenaNet should add an option to kill him though, like they did for the lady with the vase. Hmmm, I wonder which option most people would choose?
"Meaningless threads" are the meat and potatoes of this forum. Get used to it. Besides, it's not meaningless if people enjoy talking about it.

One mor things I LOVE about this mission is this.
In Spanish, they call 'coop' to anything that starts with a different outposts icon. Coop comes from "Aventura Cooperativa" (Cooperative Adventure), since 'Misión' (Mission) is used for 'quests', since 'gesta'(quest) sound a bit pedant in informal Spanish). But not all missions are cooperative ones! They should be called 'aventuras', like it says in the part search panel.
I always hated that.
Now, there are Missions that are not cooperative you people have to call everything mission or 'Aventura', not coop.
'Coop' sounds like a hen clucking!

At first, I was really glad I was grinding a pet to 20 for the HoM. Then I was really amused by the mission itself. Damn mime!
holababe
Loved it apart from that stupid RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing mime.
Kook~NBK~
Tihark's one of the more enjoyable missions in the game. The mime is a pain, but there's got to be some challenge to the mission. Running around stealing everyones' drinks was a hoot.
I thought the mission itself fit very well with the storyline and added a level of depth & sense of immersion to Nightfall that was completely lacking in factions and hardly there in Prophecies.

I grew strong
I learned how to carry on....

Had to do it.
I like Tihark; it's a fun, relaxing mission. Never had much trouble with the mime, but then Ranger is one of my favorite classes.

Operative 14
I found it a nice, relaxing thing to do after spending 2.5 campaigns constantly battling this or that, where the goal was to move from point A to point B killing everything you encounter. I wish they'd implement more like it.
Ephidel
I find it hilarious that there are actually people who quit the game over this or who are having so much trouble with the mime. I didn't think I was that fast of a typer, but maybe I've been comparing myself with the wrong people. Admittedly, I used the Wiki. I was going for Survivor on the first character I took that far, and I didn't want something unexpected to pop up and end it all. Heck, I read the tips even when I'm not using that character. Better safe than sorry. I know online games in general can be considered a "waste of time" but I'd really rather not have to use time that could be put into something else because of a stupid mistake.
Personally I think this was a great mission. Pity most of the ones after it were hell. I look forward to checking out the Bonus Mission Pack so I can see more of this, though I'm sure they'll have a bit of trouble comparing to a mission where the main goal is just to hang out. So relaxing.

ohhh tihark that was one of my fav missions actually . I liked the solo bit of it all .

fun fun fun! was a nice creative break from usual hack and slash. much love.

Oh Tihark Orchard. Strangest mission ever.
Right.... The Lich, wuss. Shiro, Too easy. Abaddon, um.. no, Great Destroyer, meh...
That mime. *shudder* The destroyer of worlds has come. Run for your lives.
Then I was like, "Ooh, A Party!", so I took off all my armor and put on my Yule Cap, proceeded to get drunk and then killed by the 'Great' Zehtuka.
Fun times...
