Skin Color
Sir Tidus
I'm just curious. Do u guys generally go with the default skin color or is a more tanned skin more preferable.
Mordakai
Depends on the character. I try to find skin colors that go well with the face and hair I've picked out...
skin color is usually the last thing I pick, and I have characters that run the gambit from glowy white to shadowy dark.

Depends on the face and hair, and what you are aiming for. In some campaigns and professions, certain racial traits are limited.
I have 10 characters all with variety of skin tones and facial traits, along with hairstyle, shade as well as genders. No two characters I have are alike.

stretchs
I very seldom go with the default, either partially tanned, OR pale if its a necro

nechronius
I've gone both ways. I have characters ranging from the lightest to darkest shades.
I did notice a problem with one of the darker skintones on the paragon model though. The skin is a really dark brown which isn't a problem for me, but apparently in low rez the shading is really pronounced. When others look at my paragon in town his face looks like he has white powder caked around his mouth and other features. It really looks unpleasant, almost freakish, and I would delete him and start over if he wasn't close to being a survivor 3. If he dies before making it I'll have to delete him. It really looks bad in low rez or what others see in town.

Curse You
I go with what suits the area my character is from.
Miss Puddles
lol @ batman
my characters are all pale and sickly looking. i'm not emo, just irish

trobinson97
All mine are brown, like me.
Operative 14
Pretty much whatever suits my characters. But so far it's just a general caucasian skin tone for the same reason that my characters all have blonde hair; it's a representation of me, so it's as close as I can get to myself, at least in things like hair and skin tone.
Granted, for the NF preview weekend I used a darker skin tone for a male Dervish. But you have to admit, it suits them.

Depends on Character
My Necro – has a drow name and she really looks like a drow... grayish skin tone and bleach white hair.. glowing eyes
Balance of my characters - I stay in the tan areas

Tyla
<- Always makes white chars.
Jetdoc
Either as pale or as black as possible. I just like contrast.
mmmkay i am bad
always half tanned to look aznnn =D lol
enter_the_zone
Mine are a mix, but mostly oriental or tanned
Pyro maniac
I never make a dark Monk or Necro, tattoo's look ugly on them
Other then that, nightfall male warriors with a dark skin are cool :> (ok, already have koss tho)

bhavv
All mine are somewhere in the middle, like tanned > brown. I dont like either of the complete extremes of pale / dark skinned characters.
I hope that doesnt sound racist :s

genofreek
All my in-game characters are roleplay characters, so I just go with how they'd normally look.
Generally I'm okay with the default tone; I don't bother with extremes unless it fits the character.

My Tyrian (Ascalonian) characters tend to be light skinned and my Elonans dark to match the geographical motifs, but I have two dark skinned Tyrians as exceptions. My Canthans are typically light to medium, but I really have no rules. They just turned out that way.
None of my characters look like me. That's probably a good thing.

Kusandaa
I generally go with my moods or geographical locations... or what I think suits best the character - my assassin is tanned, rit is fairly light-skinned, while my derv and paras are almost as dark as possible. Rest have average caucasian looks.
Longasc
I go with the area. So Black Paragon, Arabian Dervish, Chinese Canthan chars and rather pale Tyrian chars, Ascalon pink.
The many white paragons with that boring "good boy" haircut make me sick... female Dervishes also seem to have the very same hairstyle to 90% as well.

It depends on the face + hair combo, as to whether I make my characters tan or less tan because some just look off with certain combo's. Lately I like tan/sunkissed skin tone. I think a lot of armors look nice with it.
Divinus Stella
Made all my characters aryan, if i made any characters from nightfall they would be black as all the nightfall faces have big noses and fluffy hair.
~ Dan ~
Slight tan for mine.
Tender Wolf
I usually go with the palest one, since I'm really pale in real life. But I don't go to the white pale like some necros have.
As for my second account, it varies based on my mood and the rest of the character's looks. lol

ElinoraNeSangre
I just pick what I think looks best, although all of my Elonian characters are intentionally dark-skinned because there's so many pale skinned people running around as is, we don't need ME creating any more of them. I just want my characters to look cool, so I pick what looks cool.
Zeek Aran
All of my chars are palepalepale or normal. I was about to make a dark skinned ritualist, but then I remembered I was basing her off my girlfriend and had to make her pale. @_@ If I ever make a para, it'll be dark.
CHannum
It's mix based on what I find best looking from the available character models. No out and out black looking characters, but they range from caucasian to asian to middle eastern.
cosyfiep
my first was as pale as I, my second was dark skinned....third light, fourth dark (and he looks good in white tats).....5th has a great tan, 6th is normal (neither light nor dark) same with the next few.....elonians: first was normal, as was the 2nd and 4th, 3rd and 5th are dark beauties!
Depends on the character I feel like making---and what hair and such goes with it. I, myself am pretty pale (so pale that my doc when I was a kid used to ask me why I was sooo pale---"uhm, you're the doc!--you tell me!") . I like to look at different characters while I play so I mix it up.

HawkofStorms
I tried to make my mesmer look sort of hispanic. Worked well with the shade of hair I picked.
But yeah, depends on character really.

I also have a range of characters, so it depends a lot on the face and hairstyle which skin tone I choose.
I find that on some of the male faces a somewhat darker tone will often kind of "smooth" out what I guess are meant to be character lines (wrinkles lol), making the face look more youthful or, at least, not tired-looking, especially around the eyes.

Diddy bow
All my pve are white, ill occisonaly make a pvp characher black, just for a change.
Phaern Majes
All mine are white except my ritualist which I made black.
Rhedd
My ranger is half snow white, half blood red.
I just love Highlander woad! ^_^

Kendar Muert
I pick the one in between white and black normally. So all my characters have deep tans. Except my nec- he looks like someone sprayed him with white paint.
Sir Tidus
By white do u guys mean white pale or Caucasian? If Caucasian, then u can still be tan (like my new char, I made him cuz I didn't like my original normal skinned char. He looked too pale to be a true warrior).

i go with the colorless ones mostly. the one that looks like a ghost.
well, except in Elona! Land of the Rising Sun.... :P~ i suppose all that rising sun makes even ghostly character have a little bit of color.
