ok so Gaile Gray has stated she has heard of relationships starting and people getting married from meeting on guild wars

its time now to see how many have had relationships end because of it

so if you have had a relationship end because of guild wars please say so I like to get a good poll started so don’t lie no need for it

me myself I have a girlfriend one end for many reasons but one was becuz I played guild wars

now I have a new relationship at first she hate the game , but then she gave it a chance and liked it now she likes it, after about of year fighting over the computer for who is going to be playing that night, we bought her own computer and now there is no issues!!!

now she has her own account with every game she rank 3 fame , and plays with me all the time.
Off topic
also the day Gwen came out was a very important day our son was born that day also , so he was a Gwen baby , any one else have a kid that day

congratulation on the baby, hope you didn't name him after guild wars characters.

for the poll, no, guild wars did not make me any new friends nor has it ruin any relationship.

Damn it's hard to read what you typed.. no offense, I can just barely understand.

On topic, I could imagine some people's relationships ending because of Guild Wars, but only if they're dumb enough to let a stupid temporary video game stand in front of what is important in life.

I think it's commonplace people meet and fall in love in online games nowdays. I've never heard of it ruining anyones relationships tho, ofc possible. :P

I guess I have made some new friends but not really irl because the ones I know irl already played the game when I started.

Grats on the baby! Tho it has been a while already.

I've heard horror stories of spouses yelling overheard through the Vent, but that was in another game.

I think when your wife grabs the headphone mic and yells to your guildies, "YOU GUYS ARE RUINING HIS MARRIAGE!", its time to Remove Program (at least for a while...no subscription ftw!)

Me and my girlfriend play GW and run a active guild together.

A couple of members though have had their relationships ended, but iI'm not quite sure if it's due to video games (I thinks it's unfair to point out Guild Wars directly) or other reasons.

I know of at least 3 couples that have separated where the guy is a member of the guild. Sad to hear, but it does not matter if he is in to video games or collecting stamps. If she can't support his hobbies/he can't controll them, then it was probably never meant to be anyway...

I dumped my ex because gaming was more interesting than him.

Does that reflect badly on me, or him?

Well, personally, I never put GW (or any other game) above the people close to me. I have, however, put it above some acquaintances, so I may have lost one or two of those by playing, well, any game. Can't really remember GW being directly tied to any of those, though.

But no, close friends, family, and loved ones? No. Never.

i think the spouse that is left in real life is call e-widow or something, cannot remember the terms, someone who gets left behind because their spouse is too hooked up with online "life" and forgot they have a "real life life"

*edit: i think it's internet widow.

I guess it does..

Although I don't play games as much now, but I still think gaming's more fun than he ever was.

Speaking of which, a good thing about Guild Wars is being able to click X. I always liked that. <3

I think relationships starting or Ending in/over/because of Guild Wars is incredibly lame in any circumstance.

If GW ended a relationship, then that person should take a good hard look at where their life is going.

What's even funnier is that you don't even need to be a real female to get away with doing that kind of stuff. However, being the "i-net" doesn't make it any less wrong; it just makes the victims that much dumber.

If your relationship ends because of a computer game you shouldn't have been calling it a relationship anyway, just my 2 cents.

I play gw with my BF ^_^ I got him nito the game :-)

We have a pc each and we play other games together too. I think it can cause small arguments if they get the green drop xDDD but thats it. lol

I dont doubt that online games (gw too) has ended relationships.

Fortunately my partner and I are both into computer games.... it was probably a bit contentious for the first two years because our college only let one computer per apartment link to the internet.... yeah.... he's stronger than me so he won, haha. Now we can both play GW at the same time, we both play less because we get more done.

I've seen people have relationships in guilds and stuff.... eh... I guess I've made 3 or 4 friends I would take a bullet for via Guildwars, but cyber-relationships is something else entirely.

That said, our housemate got his girlfriend from WoW. She's normal, and incredibly hot. And actually a girl! I was amazed.

Hey, it can happen! Though it is entirely dependent on how exciting the partner (or partners ) is. I can remember a couple of ex's that would make me say something like that.

In the age of the new man (who's expected to be everything, funny, intelligent, handsome, selfsuficient, etc. etc.), why the hell would you marry/need a woman unless you want a child and pass on the genes. /end sarcasm

Sure I have a realationship and a very passionate and caring one but we give eachother space and freedom.
'I love all women, my heart is way to big. I can only marry one and that's why I'll never marry'

On topic, I think gw ends more love relationships than it creates.

My bf started playing before me, and he called me and said "Omg come over and watch me play this new game!" I was like "ehh... -.- ok" So I got over and he was playing in pre and I thought "hm ok yea" and one day he let me make a character on his account and I DLed the client at home and was always on his acct till he got bored of the game cuz I was always on his acct so he couldnt play. lol so i got my own acct and he ended up quitting. But he still plays once in awhile

GW has struck many arguments between us because i evolve my life around it kidna (long story) but other than that things are ok ^.^

while i think it's cool that girls play gw, i wouldn't want my gf to play it because discussing skill balance, or lack thereof, while hanging out is pretty RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing lame

The worst part for me is when me and the girlfriend get in to small arguments over what game is more complicated, gw or wow. then i realize how RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing retarded it is and drop it for more interesting conversation.

There are many many support groups out there for spouses/b & g friends and more dealing with an addiction to gaming. After WoW they began popping up everywhere. Unfortunately there are more loved ones upset and at their wits end, more divorces and break ups over gaming then there are people "falling in love" in game.
