I'll sum this up as well as I can.
Two wrongs don't make a right. That should be obvious, and just because game balance is flawed doesn't give you the right to exploit a game mechanic to benefit yourself/grief someone.
Trolls need not respond.

if you hate syncers... then you should just go to TA and fight actual teams

Saying Team Arena sucks is fine. Saying Team Arena sucks because people can coordinate their teams is something else. Saying that, as a result of people able to coordinate their teams, you're going to coordinate yours in Random Arena is a conclusion which bewilders me.
This topic may yet persuade me that taking teams into RA isn't contrary to the nature of RA, but not with logic like the above.

i cant belive you are defending your position thinking you are right.
Syncing in RA is abusing the system, its an exploit YOU know this and yet you continue to do it because its an easy farm (...) a pretty much guaranteed win (i'm sure you enjoy cruising with your homies, beating up homeless people at night as well, now theres a real mans sport) and because TA is too hard?
all this with a smug "i pvp so stfu pver" know it all attitude as well! theres some real class.

It's really quite hilarious that people want to ban RAers who sync. This is the biggest non-issue I've seen in a long time...
Syncing is not a problem in RA. Maybe I'm playing RA in a different universe but at most I'll come across synced teams twice a week. My bigger concern is why the W/N on my team has Death Nova or how people seem to err7 when loading into RA maps a bazillion times more than anywhere else (except in the mATs of course!) I'm much more angry when I get on a team (or face one) that has 3 monks than when I lose to a synced team.
Also, there's absolutely nothing against the rules about syncing into RA. It's just entering at the same time, most likely in the same district. Sure some people probably think it's lame, but I think monsters standing in AoE is lame too. They're both taking advantage of how the game is programed but neither is cheating.
I've been randomly put on a guildmate's team before so I guess I should consider myself a bad person. Also I've synced with someone who wasn't from the same guild as me. OH NO I GOT AROUND THE SYSTEM LULZ!!!

People sync in hopes of farming glad points. Thats the real reason. Stop trying to make excuses saying "TA is degenerate" or "TA uses gimmicks". If you look in any format of PvP, gimmicks and builds exist.
HA has sway, hexway, etc.,
GvG has Blockway, that thing dubbed "sineptitude", and I'm sure there are still spike builds that farm low level gvg that we rarely see.
HB has sin-oriented builds or monk-oriented builds and there is a Shadow Meld build
TA has Shove spike, sinspike, etc.
Whenever people are allowed to form teams, gimmicks will exist, because 4 or 8 people can devise away to take advantage of the skills, rules, and maps of the game and use them to their advantage to win. No nerfs or buffs can really stop this fact. The only thing you can do is devise a build amongst your friends or guild and win with your skill.
People who sync in RA either 1) don't have enough friends, guildies online to trust in one of the other forms of PvP, but want to farm points at the time they are online or 2) to lazy to put a build together and attempt TA, seeing as RA is full of horrible builds(yes alot of builds in RA are very bad at PvP) and its ripe to farm.
I don't mind facing syncers, because to be honest, most are bad at pvp anyway. But don't tell me syncers do it for "other reasons" besides farming glad points.
Now as for a solution, the only way Anet can assure a team rarely syncs is if your team is chosen out of all RA districts, not just the one you press "Enter" in. However, the fallout of that would mean getting on teams that don't speak your language and that chance to actually be coordinated(though most RA teams never succeed at that anyway) is lost.

As such, you'd bring tools to help you survive in those situations (cripshot, snares, blind) but you wouldn't really be gimping yourself vs. any other builds (which was the beauty of having only 6 professions, imho). Nowadays, the gimmick builds in TA are so strong that bringing something simple like a cripshot or a blind just won't work.
|
As for crip shot, you can still use it, its just not as effective as it is in GvG, because maps are larger. If this is a complaint about Shadow step, well your likely to draw 3 Assassins in RA anyway, the only difference is you and your friend might be coordinated, and the sins have 20 secs to figure out how to work together or just abandon any plan.
The only thing that has changed about TA is Gladiator points have made it more competative than back in pre-factions. Oh, and Spike builds existed in TA before factions as well, such as frag spike teams, smiter balls, air spike, etc. They are gone now, but they existed.

Why are you complaining about syncing still? The Koreans were doing it back in the first months of GW. Clearly it's not a big enough issue for Anet to care about, since it has gone on for almost 3 years. Get over it all ready. If you can't win RA because of syncers, go play something else, because RA is easily the LEAST important part of the entire game.

It's really quite difficult to prove syncing in RA, because you may have no way to tell for sure that it was intentional. If you see three or four guys from the same guild on a team, though, it's a fairly good sign something's up.

This is why I can never convince anybody to play Guild Wars. 90% of the players in it are assholes and nobody wants to be around them.

like this is kept quiet
Things get changed when people make enough noise
I think this warrants getting changed or don't call it Random Arenas, its one of my favourite areas to play in Guild Wars because its fast to get into the game and play but if there are "TEAMS" in random arena its putting an advantage and ruining the whole point of RANDOM play.

I Played Asheron's Call before Guild Wars and the PVP community was always very rude and elitist and calling others newbs in Asheron's Call and what happens overtime with that type of attitude is you push people away from the game because of the way you act/treat them and you pvp against the same people all the time until those people move on and then you are left playing by yourself
You might have all the toys...all the great titles but you have nobody left to show them to or whats the point?
thats a long way off i know but its already happening in parts of the game...
And there was a post 3-4 days ago about that new player asking for help in Random arenas and people sharing builds because he had problems moving to team arenas...some of those same people in this thread who helped that new player are actually HURTING him by saying syncing is okay because those new players might be having issues not with builds but because of the disadvantage they have against syncing TEAMS in random arenas

It's rather easy to fix if you just pair up people in empty districts with those in other districts. Originally this was avoided due to "language barrier" issues or what not, but the better teams I get in international can't understand each other half the time anyway and still win much more often than american teams.

These people who want to play against random teams should be the ones to move?
Or the ones who go to RA and want to play with a non random team?
I think its obvious who shouldnt be there.

They are playing in random arena. Syncing is not random. It should be as simple as that.

1. Idiot little kids who are just griefing
2. People who suck at PvP and lose in TA all the time
3. Jackholes that are farming glad points (usually because they also fit into #2)
Still, like I said. I personally have only seen syncing once in over 2 years. I'm not really convinced it's anything more than a few annoying assholes here and there and that's why ANET hasn't bothered to put in the work to fix it.

Anyway, I've synched and been put up versus synched teams. Just last week I was up against two Me/A with some spike build, while I was monking. Was actually quite an interesting game instead of the 3 warriors running after me around the map never catching up letting the rest of my team kill of that lonely mesmer.
Besides, as far as I know, teams aren't mixed. Just stay in American or European district and you won't be put up versus synchers.
Besides all this, I doubt very much Anet can do much against it if it remains random...because as far as I know, random doesn't exist in computers (no expert, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, don't forget to flame either, without flames, how do I know I'm a noob?)
