Going off this, I've begun collecting ingredients.

Two questions:

1) Does anyone know how may of a given item are needed to complete the requirement? Will one of everything do?

2) Is anyone game for organizing to divide up the ingredient list and sponsoring a particular district at a particular time?

Ugh....seriously, obviously the same moron who came up with the mini polar bear thought this up. If this thing requires more than one mini pig to get....

I mean are they trying to make the events worse? Maybe we can lose more customers if the events are horrible, and then we don't have to make GW2....

whatever....this is dumb. I guess this year I'm going to be greedy and keep everything for myself, because obviously, thats the only way to get rewarded. Nice people always finish last.
Nothing really changes with them so I wouldn't waste too much anger over it. I'm sure there will be other things that people will consider much worse. Everything adds up really. GW will stay around as long as people play they said. The hardcore players are the ones probably using it the most. Without them, maybe few people will put much pressure on GW servers or even fade away completely. It's also a good way to get people out of GW and into GW2 (or to get rid of undesirables the Best Buy way :-)...

either way, don't strain yourself because there will be more in the future, especially once GW2 nears completion.

well good thing I am a pack RAT and have been hoarding this crapp for the last year----not sure I want to help out this year or just sell the stuff to the merchant so I can afford to buy a mini rat (cause my luck I wont get a 'rare' lunar fortune before we put a man on saturn)....or sell my mini shiro for one.
Last year I busted my butt to get 95% of the ingredients....and still have loads of them left over for this year, but anet doesnt seem to reward those of us who help out, or give our stuff away (gave away most of my pigs)....great way to pssss off your player base. Wonder just how many old timers will be left when gw2 comes out if they continue this way.

In addition to the festival rewards mentioned above, two special miniatures will be available this year. For those lucky enough to receive multiple miniature pigs during last year's celebration, look for a special collector with a celestial surprise for you. And watch those Lunar Fortunes closely. Your immediate future just might include a miniature Celestial Rat in your pack.

Mini pig prices are going over the roofs! Saw people selling them for over 100k

The wording seems to indicate that the reward for the multiple pig turn-in is one of the two minis we can get this year.

Celestial surprise? I smell "CELESTIAL PIG".

GG Anet, I gave all my mini pigs away, and used my sparklers before this....

It'll be 8 mini pigs required for a trade I reckon, as 8 is a lucky number. eg, the Celestial Pig was level 8. And it fits with the "more than 2, less than a dozen" req.

Just speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised. It'd certainly raise the market value of pigs as the supply was diminished, and there would only be so many of the new minis (celestial pigs maybe?), so both would become something not as common to see around anymore, as compared to say, the Black Moa Chick for example. Not that there's anything wrong with Black Moa Chicks.

8???? I certainly hope not....I'd be happy with my 3 little pig analogy.
If its more than that I will dedicated them and put them in the trash bin--yes that will get rid of a few more from circulation!

I'm talking about in asian (specifically Chinese) culture, which is what Cantha and the Canthan New Year festival are based off. 8 in mandarin is pronounced bā, which sounds like fā (wealth).

As I said before though, it's just my guess, and why I reckon it may be that many.

Eight is a lucky number in China. 7 is more Western.

I have a question as I couldn't take part last year.

Will those event-items drop from creatures too?
If yes: Everywhere? And which of the event items will drop?
