Feedback about the Event..
The Way Out
I spent 500k on the event, refusing to "buy" a mini at the prices they were going for... and I didn't get one. I went through 300 fortunes and didn't get one... I fail... I just fail... lol
Event was cool and it was good to see some old friends on having a great time. Thank you anet for reeling in some of my old friends who are too greedy to let an event go by. hehe

Matrix
It was a very nice event. I really liked it. Great idea to introduce a new title.
A lot of ppl are bitching about mini pets, well guess what .... you dont like the price or pets in general, dont buy. Fireworks for guild hall is a good idea, something new for once.
There is a one negative point though, HIGH ping in RBR.
In general good job Anet.

I had a blast at the event. I really enjoyed the quests, and gathering some of the ingredients for the feast. Yeah, the minipet fiasco was kind of a pain, but I love my celestial pets... my favorite pets so far! Thanks Anet, it was a lot of fun!

The thing is, the events are pretty easy to put together, and I don't think in the long term they effect sales of GW2. |
If they're easy to put together, then ANet should get them right. After all, there are only 4 events a year.
These types of things negatively affect sales of GW2 by causing existing players to loose confidence in ANets ability to create and effectively run a virtual world in the long term. This leads people to change games completely rather than buy GW2. And, believe me, they are depending on conversions from GW to GW2 to drive sales.
Put it this way: every new MMO is a gamble as to how the company running it deals with the game.
When I already know how ANet runs GW (ie. not covering themselves in glory, or even displaying common sense), and how NCSoft runs their other MMOs (CoH, for one) why would I gamble on them being any different in GW2?

Very nice job, i enjoyed it

My final thoughts on the event now that its over.
What I Liked.
Firework Crates- Very cool collectable item, completely new, useable only at Guildhall so this will not lag up towns.
District 142 had a guild that provided all the items for the feast and told everyone to keep coming back. so they helped alot.
The Party Animal Title- Something new that actually makes the event items useful.
Two New Minatures- Very cool looking celestial mini's which i hope they do every year from now on.
Same Fun games as the years before- Rollerbeetle racing, boardwalk.
Old Buddies- Got to see some old friends who only log on during events.
Things i hated about this event.
Reused Mask- The Lions Mask was used again, i guess this is good for the people who missed it the first time, but not good for those of us who attend every event. Now i want the them to reuse the original pumpkin mask and the original xmas hats to make it fair. (so i have all the hats, lol.)
Bugged Beetle Racing- After i heard that those players who knew this bug could beat everyone else it just made it pointless for a non pro racer to even play.
5/1 Pig trade- all those of us who gave away our pigs got shafted hard.
400+ fortunes and no celestial rat- Nuff said.
118k to get both mini pets- yup, i spent 118k to get the celestial pig and rat.
the general additude of the gw community- greed is better than reasonable prices, those who don't agree get bombarded with insult spam.
All in all i am satisfied because i got what i wanted the most. those damn mini's. i am a collector so that is what i look forward to. As always No one Pwns players better than Anet.

Positives:
Generally fun return of favorites like rollerbeetle and the boardwalk. Got my celestial rat.
Negatives:
Lion mask was reused, and new minis were not related to the "iron chefs" so the finale was a non-event with no incentive to collect ingredients. I just logged in and danced afk for 24 hours.

I now declare the words "Fail" and "Epic Fail" null and void within gaming communities - over used, over quoted, over contextualized. Anyone who uses them here-in will be chased down by me and resoundly slapped with a smelly, wet, cold trout.
Failure means a complete lack of anything happening. The only way this could have happened was if the servers completely shut down.
GW Festivals - do, or do not. There is no fail.

This was the first event I felt the need to use the term /fail. I just never appreciated it until now.

"They took away my xp" "They took away my exploit" "They took away the farmability" "I can't do it because I'm not a high enough level" "Its a reskin" "It doesn't have a good enough reward" "Its based on a minipet" Is this seriously all you people can see? Yes, they reused the quests and the hat from last year. I'm bummed about the hat, but I can live with that. People that didn't get one last year can have them now. It's not like you people wear them all the time anyway! Most of us still enjoyed the quests, even though they were repeats. Give Anet a break because they didn't have to give you anything! In all honesty they don't have to do any type of even, yet they do and this is what they get for it. They gave you a celestial pig if you had enough of the pigs left over from last year. Yes, I'm bummed that it took five (meaning I couldn't get one because I gave mine away), but you don't see me bitching about it! Yes, they gave us a new mini rat and yes it was a LOW possibility (like 1 in 200 chance) of getting it, but they were trying to keep it rare. It's gold after all. If you don't like minipets, well that's your right, go do whatever you would normally do on a weekend, or you could get the mini and sell it to someone that does want it. It's not like there's nothing else to do. ToA was still packed, missions were still being done and I'm sure people were still PvP'ing. "Winning" a district gave us money, alcohol, sweets, fireworks, and a chuckle yet all you people do is bitch and bitch some more. Yes, there were things that bummed me out about the event too, but it's not anywhere near as bad as most you are whining about. |

I am not one to be negative, and mostly enjoy "just reading" the forums, but I have to agree with most people on this year's event. I like the fireworks, and quests available. Everything seemed pretty routine from past events' but I just didn't have the money that it apparently takes to buy the mini's, the stacks of tokens to try for the mini, or the 5 mini pigs from last year (at 20k a piece) to be able to reap the rewards.... All in all, I am thankful for the events' that Anet hosts for everyone, and enjoy them emensely. However, it is hard when I have to sit back and watch everyone else enjoying their mini pets' because I dont have the abundant funds to get my own.
thank you...
thank you...

When the event ended all games stopped, but they also removed all collectors and everything right away.
They should realize that people were still playing games and leave the collectors there for a couple more hours, so that once the games end people can still go to the collectors to turn in the game rewards.
Next time, please end the games and leave the collectors, without the games people can't get any more anyway, so give them some time to turn them in...
I'm sure there are plenty of people who still have lunar tokens and can't use them now.

maybe we should do a petition to get the festival collectors back in the game for a day or 2...I can't believe they got removed while I was still doing lunar token quests, only to come back in town to find them gone lol

Positives: I got out and about and actually played all the characters on my account for a bit again. (even the ones slowly becoming mules)
I made new friends out of some people I casually knew from some boards.
I finally visited a European district.
I got to play my favorite sarcastic quest (I just love watching that guy die in the water)
I spent two days beating hard on the game to wring 22 items out of some very greedy monsters that I hate. (and developed two builds while doing it)
The fireworks that dropped and the snowman summoners I never really had a use for actually finally earned me a title (which is something I have not bothered to get for anything in this game ever)
During the event, the district I holed up in was pretty much free of complaints and acted like a COMMUNITY. It was fun and social. There was chat, next to no trade spam and really nice.
Pigs are cool, rats are cool. neither is so cool that I would mortgage the house to get one. but I got one of each from what I earned.
CONS:
Farming melandru's hope for truffles after opening one too many fortune and having the insanity effect in place.
azure crests.... I hate farming that item.
As a player that does not want to join a guild I have no use for the fireworks crate. But someone will buy them someday.
listening to complaints about what they got in the finale from players that spent the whole weekend on the rings. you want something special, do something for it. you want your lucky title, shut up and take what you get.
Thanks to the guilds that took the initiative to make this event full of prizes for everyone else. you got nothing for that but the pride and joy of knowing what it took to do.
NOW A SUGGESTION:
Since the whole open fortune thing seems to be not working, what about changing one of the quest rewards into an item that would trade in for the minipet at a 4 to 1 ratio? A standard account is 4 slots so every player would in theory have access to one pet. most of us would be able to get 2 and or close to it without needing to reroll.
just a thought.

New Orleans has an event every year called Madi Gras. Every year is exactly the same as the year before but people keep on going. There is something about knowing what to expect that is comforting. You never hear about it's the same old beads every year, the parades are all the same, etc. Guild Wars does basically the same thing and people rant and rave. Maybe people should just chill out and try to enjoy themselves. Just remember that if you really don't like it you don't have to participate. If all the people here that said it was a fail didn't show up, I don't think the district count would drop at all. I enjoyed it myself and got to play with a guild mate helping each other with the quests. The festival might not be perfect but it's pretty damn good.

Hello,
New on here so I'm just gonna jump on in. Also my thoughts are based on the fact this was the first time I was in this festival.
I liked getting a hat I didn't have but had seen before. So many have said they wanted one. Didn't like people complaining about it, rather the same people who said they liked it turned around and complained about it being old or they already saw it before. People complaining to complain? Think in the future they should bring back a old mask along with the new one in the two mask events.
Seeing some guilds covering districts so even if everyone else was unable to get everything it was covered. Many of them were doing this to be nice, have fun, and get in the spirit. Most did it with class. Sadly not all did, when it was done with the "all of you owe us for this" or "Look how great we are" view showing it makes what the others were doing cheap. It also make some suspect the motives of the others. Also, I went and gave some people required drops in a couple of districts that were missing what I had and they turned around and either sold or traded them off and then went to districts with guilds. That's my bad though, doubt it will happen again.
The quests, mostly funny and enjoyable.
Everything about how the pig to c. pig was handled badly. I never had a pig as I didn't have the game then and so I never really tried to get one. Felt they ought to be worth something also. They had to know that their posting would have people charging through the roof for those things but did it anyways. Don't they usually say something about wanting to stop that sort of thing? (wait usually they do and then do something to cause it). After 300 fortunes I thought I'd never get a rat so I traded for one, then I got one in the last stack of fortunes I had so I have mixed feeling about how they do it.
The bot for that gold site that kept whispering me most of the event. I know they can only do so much but I can't stand that one. I will likely be complaining over and over about that thing.
I do wish we could have been more active in the final or it was more active. Dragon Festival I'd do even if you weren't given anything for it.

Crate of Fireworks: (0/10)a big F you to guildless people.
Hat: (0/10) Same Hat WTF
Decorations: (5/10) didn't expect much change this year.
Quests/Fortunes: (1/10) 200+ fortunes/no rat
Ring Game: (1/10) being afk shows a lot of effort for a title.
Celestial Pig: (-infinity/10)yeah F you too.
Celestial Rat: *see the above*
Composite rating: Fail to the power of infinity. Would have been better off with no event than a greed fest. Glad all my chars are female because anet seems to enjoy kicking us in the nuts.

I think would have been better if we received a single firework with infinite uses and no points for the animal party title, like the rollerbeetle potion.
And an event were most of the people are trading instead of participating its a bad event not worth remembering.

Your assumption that guildless people play solo is what makes you fail. Being in a guild or not doesn't have anything to do with the way you play the game. The only thing guildless people can't do is GvG WITH HIS/HER GUILDMATES (as he can still be a guest to other guilds).
Got it?

Having a dead guild is just about the same as not having a guild, except that you have a cape and tag. I know, I've been there. My point was simply that if you are complaining about not having a guild to use the crate with then find one. There are plenty of options and some pretty good guilds out there... Just need to find them. A sort of needle in the haystack so to speak.
Cacheelma
To make the crate useful, you not only need a guild with a guildhall, but a guild THAT ACTUALLY HAS A PARTY in the guildhall.
Otherwise, the crate would be just another harder-to-use +3 party item.
So yeah, I agree with others that it's useless for me, and a slap in the face for those without a guild OR don't want to be in one.

You say Gaile was in game and also said that, well, i play this game since it came out over 2 and a half years ago and i never saw Gaile in game yet. You realize that there were like over 600 districts at Shing Jea???
They announce the festival, then also announce that kinda stuff in that announcement too.
Besides, even if it was clearly stated that the collectors would be gone as soon as the festival ended, then that would still be too fast, because there are people that play games till the last minute.
Somebody wrote to start a petition about bringing the collectors back for a day (or two). I think that's a good idea!
Cacheelma
Let me tell you, there have been many events like this in the past and everytime one event ends, some people would complain that they miss the collector NPCs (in which I totally understand).
What I wonder is, why can't Anet keep the NPCs a day longer? They can just remove the decorations just to remind people that "Hey, the event has ended, these NPCs will be gone soon". Would that be too hard? If this was the first event I'd understand. But, after 3 years?
Please, get a grip Anet.
