Gaile said in the past that hats would not be repeated, so as to give the people who were there the first time around something special. You know, like the Dragon Masks everyone always asks to have repeated.
Not exactly sure why they are repeating the Lion Mask. Kinda kills that logic, eh?

I like the crates of fireworks..however...considering we didn't even get a new mask, and the odds of getting a mini pet this year being decreased...
It's disappointing.
Good thing they fixed that horrible game-ruining exploit so now you have to be level5 to do the quests though. You can still have 50 afkers on the rings, but phew, now you can't take advantage of doing the quests more than once.
Thank god that's fixed. Yeah. Mmm hmmm.

Wow..I made a post about a month ago complaining about how i thought you could take the Fireworks dispay from HzH to the guild hall for a celibration.
Thanks Anet..
Now we can Celibrate things like taking the lead in Alliance faction, or Guildmembers having birthdays, or maxing titles.

I dont know about you, but i do like the fact that we got old hats.
- it gives people 2nd chance to get it. not everyone can be online at their convenience.
- given how bad recent hats were, i prefer great looking old one to new crappy one that only inspires qq.

I've got no complaints. Whatever hat they produced wouldn't be something I'd run around in anyway (I prefer the original yule cap over anything else).
The Fireworks are a pretty cool idea, and may come in useful for guild events, My guild is 8 years old now, and celebrates their 3-year anniversary in GW this coming weekend. Not to mention the 4th of July for us American folks. LOTS of possibilties for a good time to be had with them!
The thing that's making the event great is the Guild-Sponsored districts! I'm happy to see so many people working hard to make the event better for everyone! Thanks all for that! (My guild will be sponsoring one or two tomorrow.)

I didn't get the fireworks, but I am not that bothered about that. I do think it is particularly a let down for people without a Guild
I think they should have done different: everybody who has the full amount of dishes gets a celestial rat but only that guy and not the entire district, no new hat (or at least not a copy of an old one) and everybody in the district 1 pack of GH fireworks.
The mini-pig celestial is of course a joke, kicking generosity in the nuts.
Although some people are just complaining really too much about the events as a whole, I think they made some really bad mistakes in this one.

The crates are awesome. Mine are getting stored for special occasions.
What a great way to encourage socializing at the Guild Hall.

I agree, it is rather disapointing.

The fact that they said they would do it like two days ago doesn't change the fact that they've been saying they wouldn't before then.
Basically some people are annoyed that this one was repeated but the others weren't; then others are worried that if this one was repeated they might repeat others.
Some people missed some and want to be able to get them all; and others don't want them repeated as it would detract from the specialness of the ones they got at the original event or they just want something new.
------------------------------
I personally don't care as long as they don't give everyone the special tengu mask!

If they introduced a new mask it would be like OMG THIS MASK IS LAME... now they repeated a nice looking mask imo and people go OMG AGAIN THE LION MASK...

Everybody who does the work for it gets rewarded with something fun and more or less guaranteed, not totally random like with the fortunes: one guy doing nothing getting multiple rats from only 42 of them and another guy working his ass off getting non.
For the collector items you need to own more than just Factions, but that might be another problem.
When they can't make a new hat for, no idea about design, no time or whatever other reason, they just shouldn't do one and stick with the other stuff like the pets and fireworks.

In real life you don't pay for your gifts.
I've spent over $200 for these games.
It's not exactly a "gift" when you pay for it.

The cool idea was: Something else than a minipet!
But a consumable item does not really kick.
A better idea would have been:
- Celestial Rat (from Lunar Fortunes)
PLUS
- Normal Rat (from the Celestial Rat / all 5 dishes)
or
- Fireworks NPC (for guild hall)
which could serve as a less moronic money sink than the many consumable item titles.
Fireworks are cool, too... but I just have not much love for consumable items that are used up.

Cool for those with a Guild Hall then, at least.
Kind of odd that they're letting guildless or small guild players miss out, we never bothered with a hall just for the two of us. Oh well, at least I didn't waste hours farming for ingredients in the end.

Lol, devs can cause Fireworks as an emote command, and so any guild with a dev has been enjoying an infinite supply of Fireworks in their guild hall for coming up on three years now... (read: Spearmen). I'm not sure if I was supposed to keep that a secret, but giving this out as the big super surprise for an event is just lame to me when some guilds have/will have this forever, for free, without any tedious ingredient gathering.
MagicalHobo
A female elementalist named Elona Fiorna went around and supplied items for the Rat's feast, and I watched him/her go to every table and trade in items. It's nice to see that people are doing this.
I think the fireworks were a neat idea though. It is unfortunate for those without a hall, but for the most part, it was a cool thing to give from ANet.

I like the crate. Love how its finally something different and not another mini for everyone to go nuts over. I dont get people complaining over a gift like this. I wonder how many that are even provided the ingredients for the dishes.
Yeah the repeat mask was a bit of a let down, was looking forward to a new hat to add to the growing collection, but the crates are a pretty unique thing. After all, not all of us are able to be in an alliance that can control a town in Factions, so we dont get fireworks whenever we want. Another fun item for any guild parties you happen to throw.

there's just no pleasing the GWG community...come on just be glad they are doing special events...
Mork from Ork
Considering that at most events we just get a hat - getting gift bags, a hat (albeit a repeated one) and fireworks seems like a pretty good idea to me.

Happy to help, but I can't take all the credit, or even most of it. Over half the stuff I got was due to others. (not to mention other people in the district had ingredients, too!)
Lfen of Wicca [pve], Magevdon Kul [ILEO], and Undead Bloke [GoE]. These great players either helped me farm the ingredients, or outright gave over half of them to me!
There were others in the parties that I joined to farm the ingredients. I wish I could list all their names and guild tags, but I can't remember them all. So if you were one of those poeple, thanks for helping me!
Besides in all honesty it wasn't purely a desire to help others, much as I like to. I was hoping to get a mini rat. LOL!!!
However, I will say the box of fireworks is awesome, and should make a great display in my Guild Hall should I ever get an occasion to use it!
Finally, I'd like to thank Anet for the wonderful festival. I've only been playing 10 months now, so this was my first Canthan New Year!
Croco Clouds
Phail, wasted my battery to afk and all i got was consumable, few red bag and the worst of all = OLD mask from last year... I thought the finale will be the main-event but I was wrong...

Yes, when I read "new", "volatile", and "never before", I expected something that wasn't a giddy little item with limited uses.
Oh well, it is new, volatile, and never before seen I guess.

No, the finale event is NOT a hat, is NOT a miniature. It's a prize that you have never seen before. |
It is a big let down on the finale event, but the mini celestial rat was pretty nice item. I also like the mini celestial pig.
Its a good thing that we got something new out of this event and we also got things that we love like the mini games

This event would have been fine if they had stayed the hell away from minipets. Bluntly, the ONLY source of minipets should be birthdays. All these other "giveaways" etc breed resentment at the blatant favoritism shown to certain regions or players.
This event just proves the rule : no good deed goes unpunished.

It would have been fine if they left last years mini-pet situation alone. It actually would have been better than last year, because I wouldn't have wasted any time on fortunes (which isn't gameplay in the slightest) and just focused on getting ingredients for the finale.
Burning Blade
AFKing for 10 hours on boardwalk. Woke up and realized I was awarded 48 bags, 15 crates and 3 masks. I love AFKing!
