WTF Hackers on GW...?
X Ice Man X
So, Andrew Patrick has been sat on here now for quiet a while reading all of this. I'm curious as too what he thinks?
Rushing off to go tell people and get an update on the go?
Or sitting back and chilling safe in the knowledge its a load of Bull Shit?

Oh Andrew's just swapped to invisible
Sirugel Kai
Our 'special person' told me he is playing with the idea of posting proof of the reports to show he did actually report it months ago, but he will not post them for now unless anet openly states he didnt report them.

Yes after we had been sat in Temple of Balthazar for a bit I wanted him to show me something that he could do, just to see whether he was just talkin or not. I wanted him to take me somewhere where he hadnt already shown some one he could go, thats why i tried the deldrimor arena. Anyway he took me to "Ascalon Arena" which had no npcs (hope you can see that in the screen shots) and you were able to walk through the portal halfway out ito what appeared to be old ascalon until you got to the "edge of the world."
No comments on my skill bar by the way, i know its sub par lol

Yes, thats right, they are alone in most of the shots, completely empty of anyone else. From the shots, I'd say that this "hacker" was warping them around to several inaccessible outposts. |

I'm sure Anet will give him a job as their official Court Jester. What next? "Hand over the Mini Pigs or Cantha gets it".

In-game terrorism....now I've seen it all.
Seriously, what kind of person thinks doing this will get him unbanned?? ^^

I didn't think hacking GW the way this guy seems to be doing it would be that hard, considering the number of bugs/exploits that have already been found to date. I hope it turns out that he WAS asked by Gaile to find bugs, that would make this drama even more hilarious.

unless he can put in effect a mass crash, thru multiple instances/districts. he cannot harm me one bit.
and...I know his name(IGN until account is banned) ...he knows nothing about me.

This is the most interesting thread in the history of guru. Aside from the one which exposed a guy that duped stacks of armbraces.

Makes for exciting reading.

Yup another reason why I can't wait for GW2 and everyone to start out with zero gold.
Exploits FTL
Just think if ANet had chosen to stay with the game model of skill over grind there would not be such a market for exploits like this.

man, I leave the computer for a bit to do some cleaning and I miss all of this as it's happening? shit.
Anyways, Read through all 10 pages and I agree the guy could have easily just been in an international district because those are usually completely dead.
However, I had fallen asleep earlier today/yesterday can't exactly remember when and I woke up with that same error message on my screen, so I am kind of curious as to what's going on here.
I still find it hilarious how some people haven't stopped QQing about the 11(6)(7) people that got banned for using the exploit.
If this guy really is capable of what he says, then what's the worst he can do, crash the game for a day, maybe a few at the max(like Anet doesn't have a complete backup of the servers etc.)
So for all of his grief he'll get the game shut down for a day, or two and still won't get those accounts unbanned, but find himself in a nice court case and I'm sure mommy and daddy who pay for his internet connection will not be very pleased.
Seems he can crash the client for at least one person, sure he has yet to prove that he can crash entire districts let alone the entire game/ab.
So, I'd say it's a mix of he found out about the exploit and is playing it up to make it seem a lot worse than it is, because he is angry at ANEt for banning his account for using an exploit.
Will be very interesting to see how this plays out,
It would be nice to see a response here from Andrew, or Gaile but I'm sure if this is legit they have much better things to be working on than messing around commenting on the thread.
People seem to take Anet's involvement with their user base for granted.
I haven't seen many other companies that are as involved with players as ANET, maybe valve but that's all I can think of.

Everyone, we DO NOT allow the posting of names to discredit or harass someone on this board. Posts mentioning names will be deleted. I'm not sure what to do with this thread at this point... if it is true then ArenaNet has enough information to go off of and there's not a need to keep it open. If it's false, well then ArenaNet still has the information. I'll do more clean up and see where it stands.

Good Point, Guess I missed that.
Thanks though.
Why can't this guy just take his grief to WoW?
Want to make a statement, take out blizzards servers.
or, just not be a whining tool and suck it up.

Dang, I've never been called a mastermind before! I appreciate the...er.. confidence? However, let's be sensible. First, it's not cool to post about exploits on a forum. I mean, come on, think! It's great someone finally sent a Support ticket. I've verified that the team received the ticket, and in fact the character in question was banned before the ticket arrived. But please understand that making a forum thread is a very poor choice, because it only causes unnecessary alarm and feeds the ego of the former player who demands it. (And if we're looking at sock puppets -- and I imagine we're looking at at least one -- it's even more silly.)
Now, I want you to understand: The reason behind all the hyperbole and all the threats and bragging isn't a steadfast belief in some sort of "cause." This isn't about a noble player trying to help other "unjustly banned" players, or someone trying to help us to make the game better, or anything of that sort. This is not a person who works for ArenaNet or NCsoft and it's not someone with whom we choose to have any sort of relationship, A reported exploit deserves a "thanks for sending that." But when you start bragging about it, exaggerating into special permissions, claiming that a certain time-span means you're A-Ok to cheat, and pretending you're not the one responsible for getting other players banned, you're plumb off the "thank you list."
This posts seems to stem from a threat, blackmail, whatever nonsense name you want to call it, and you can be sure that neither ArenaNet nor NCsoft are going to capitulate to such antics.
Here are a few obvious thoughts:

Here are a few obvious thoughts:
- Don't party with someone who says he can crash you.
- Don't take a ferry to a "hidden outpost."
- If someone threatens you, zone and report. If someone harasses you, ditto.
- Don't exaggerate the situation.
- Don't post because you are threatened with... what? "I will ban you" is nonsense when the threatener has no access whatsoever to our administrative tools.
- Oh, and don't believe the story about how he can ride on a flying monkey, either.
- If there's a gap in the code, an exploit, a glitch, a whatever, it's not the end of the world and you know we'll fix it.
- Just say "No" to the drama. I mean, honestly!
