Possible Bug???
A couple players that have finished in the top 100 this year are not able to receive the prize (My guildmate being one of them). The npc "Jack" says that they have already received the prize, even though they never accepted it. The hunch is that because you already received a prize last year you can't get it again, which I'm guessing is partially true. Last year I won a beetle under the character name "Ekelon Mist", but this year I won it under "X Ekelon X", so I guess it's fine, but I'm guessing maybe if used the same character name then it wouldn't give you one the second time?

Miniature Greased Lightning. Same as last year. Thanks Anet for throwing a fun event this year! A lot of people have been complaining about the event being lame, but I loved it. I even opened like 100 fortunes and didn't get a rat, but I still enjoyed it!

It has been confirmed that anyone out of top 100 does NOT get anything (I have talked to various people who just missed top 100 by mere points).





So I think there are like 120-130 beetles out there now adding up the ones from last year.

EDIT: Please no QQ'ing in this thread. It pains me to see people constantly yelling "cheater" (I can't really argue against the low ping no-life part, because it did take a long time and a lot of commitment over the course of the weekend). Please keep it clean. Thanks!

For future reference, we plan on meeting with more beetle holders and getting a larger population of beetles all at 1 gathering ^.^

as an owner of a mini beetle myself, there is no hacking involved, nothing, no one has glitches or exploits, us racers had to use a certain strategy, and i really don't appreciate people calling yuri a hacker etc etc. he is a great racer and we should try to have the chance to beat him, not call him a hacker -.-, on an other note ty ekelon for posting this, might see your mini beetle in game and gj on the racing, i figured out what to do on the last day lol

I think if Anet awarded these to the top 100 accounts (not scores) it would take away a lot of the... cynicism towards the winners.

Now that the canthan new year is over how about the top racers tell us how they did it!

Yeah if you have any lag whatsoever you lose instantly. Some people have the insta advantage.

Don't mind the cheating accusations. They're just jealous. However, you'd really dispel a lot of the criticism if you told us how you guys managed to get such high scores

just look at it this way 80% of this is luck, you gotta get lucky with the boxes, the other 20% is skill, cause you gotta know when to use your skills at a certain point to get the rrpm advantage, other than that, you won't get a high score if you don't know what to do, it took me almost all weekend to figure it out, and i had some help from ouija, but still, mostly luck.

Ive raced against Yuri, hes insane and i dont get it how he does it, i do know i didnt see him do any tricks or stuff that would otherwise be considered as cheating, what i dont like is that his name was in the list multiple times and i cant blame Yuri for that really, more like a fail in the ranking system, it should allow one entry per account, but if you would improve your record you just get bumped up in the list and not get multiple spots on the top 100.

I wasn't accusing you of cheating. I just wanted to know things like where to use certain skills and which paths to take and what not.

some of my guildies tried all weekend, never even got close, and i know they are good at rollerbeetle, shame for all who tried, just know u have my praise

i know you weren't but these other QQers who couldn't make it have to have an excuse for losing....

I had winning streaks of 5 several times, never came within 20,000 pts. of the top 100 and I got the whole "you are cheating crap". I don't really see how one could cheat. I can see how less knockdowns and a lot of luck in boxes would make the difference though.

also, congrats to those who did end up in the top 100.

I really think it's unfair that the beetle be given only to the top 100 spots because the same name doesn't get the beetle for multiple spots, which I find fair, what I find unfair is the fact that that same name can be in the top 100 multiple times, therefore taking up spots that other players could have but don't. I think that either the prize should be given to the top 100 racers, racers meaning people, as in different people, as in different accounts, not top 100 racers as in the first 100 spots as there are NOT 100 racers/people/accounts in those spots, or ONLY the racer's/person's/account's highest score appear on the board so that that person's name only appears once so that the top 100 spots are actually different people so that the top 100 racers actually get the prize so that 100 beetles are being given out as planned. Does that make sense? Not does that makes sense as in do you also think it's fair, but as in do you understand what I'm saying? Do you get my point? And no, I was never even on the leaderboard, so the top 100 thing wouldn't apply to me by far, and neither was anyone I know, it's just how I think it should be and how I think it fair to everyone else.

Agreed! Signed! And a shame that ANet is not able to get a basic list to correctly present winners. No, the list should have shown your best time, nothing else. How could that list be considered to be a good idea?

The only thing those cheaters deserve is a BAN!

Trust me nobody cheated i can get a 472 without any superoller beetles, its as someone said 80% luck with getting an echo superbeetle skill and 20% knowing were to use your skills.

Yeah and when asked to provide a video they all refuse, because there is some trick we shouldn't know about. When asking the people, they say there's a a trick or how they 'figured something out', but they obviously can't tell you how it works, but soon after 'figuring this out' they improve their score by 20k. Yeah right.

Where have we heard those excuses before? Mallyx Citadel anyone? Glitch, expoit, cheat, whatever you want to call it, THAT is what's been figured out.

Regardless of what your asking it isint the case this time, there is no glitch and no cheating involved its pure dumb luck with a touch of skill to get into the top 100, the only negative about the whole rollerbeetle thing was that they never gave out 100 prizes just over 50 i believe due to the double or triple times done by the same players, other then that the races and the racers did not cheat.

How many people race? Now, if it was just luck, the odds for the same people winning all the time are smaller then like winning the lottery five times in a row.

Of course noone posts a vid and noone sais anything on how they do it, because we all know that they're exploiting and they don't want the rest of the people to know how to do it. Hey, they were just lucky to get in there all the time, you weren't lucky enough to get in the top 100. Suuuure.

Polgara, if it's so pointless for you to talk about it, but it's not pointless to us. Well, mind as well just tell us the techniques. If you really want to disprove all the hacking accusations and the doubters, there's no better way than to just tell the truth.

It's not just dumb luck, in the "Oh I got a SRB out of every box" sense. You have to know how to use what you get. The luck is in getting the things you need to make a top 100 score (SRB, and maybe an echo).

Also, nobody "won over half the spots." There were almost 60 unique winners, and the remaining 40 duplicates are split up between several people.

Even still, does that seem fair to you? Over 40 duplicates on a so called top 100 racers list? It's absurd. The facts are Anet should have (and still should try to) make it the top 100 unique accounts that get prizes.

The odds are for the same people winning are smaller than winning the lottery? Did you just make that up? You just lack skill and obviously didn't put any effort into practising, because it's just logic that they obviously did practise alot, and figured out the best technique for winning. And if you read the other threads you will see, that we have posted "tricks and tips" for how to get a higher score. You make yourself sound like you expected to win your first try ^^

No, it doesn't seem fair at all. I hope they can fix it before the next time Rollerbeetles are available in an event. I was only correcting Shakkara's claim that "the same persons win over half the spots."

I was replying to this person that all that was required to get a top 100 spot was 'dumb luck', which it obviously is NOT.

And yeah, I did practice a LOT this year and past events too, and I did get high scores but nothing like the 470+ stuff they have, even WITH 4 super rollerbeetles and good skill timing.

I run without SRB about 466 +-

and my best was 475 with echo an beetle, and I used 1 skill wrong, thats why it wasnt better.

The 476-478 times are possible, but I dont think that yuri gets every single round a SRB to top hi score.

I guess Oujira Board and Yuri and maybe roflcopter know anything we doesnt know.

But the rest is simply luclk (srb in 1 of those 2 boses) and good driver skill

....All the CHEATER posts aside...

This thread has demonstrated one thing: Most people have the mindset of "If I can't do it, it can't be done. And if someone did do it, they must have cheated"

ANet won't give out extremely valuable minis if it's easily attainable by everybody. Obviously, cracking the 475k mark requires a lot of skill that goes beyond the simple tactics most people employ. Good job to those in the top 100. I look forward to getting my own mini greased lightning the next time SB racing comes along
