Is Maxed Hall of Monuments Possible in this Life?

As GW2 approaches, I thought about checking to see how the Hall of Monuments plays into getting things from GW1 to help out in GW2. What I read on the wiki made me want to stop playing altogether.
Here is the link: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hall_of_Monuments
Here are the various monuments:

Quote:
The Monument of "Devotion" shows little statues of your miniatures and collectibles.
The Monument of "Honor" shows your titles and accomplishments, including finishing a campaign.
The Monument of "Valor" displays unlocked high-end weapons obtained from the Eye of the North expansion.
The Monument of "Resilience" shows your prestige armor sets (note that Deldrimor armor is not considered a set, so cannot be displayed, though Silver Eagle armor can. A set simply consists of a Top, Gloves, Leggings, and Boots. Headpieces are not needed). So any guesses on how much time and gold all of this would take? I mean, how much money would it cost to buy one of each (undedicated) mini? How much money would it take to get all eleven destroyer weapons?
This is ridiculous. I guess you don't have to get them all, but if the rewards in GW2 get better depending on how stocked your hall of monuments is, it might be worth it.
But if ANet wants people to continue playing GW1 once GW2 comes out, they need to make the rewards gained through the Hall of Monuments so amazing and so incredible that we are compelled to continue playing both, AND they have to make it a bit easier to get some of these things in GW1 (mini pet drops, remove all farming nerfs, etc). In fact, if the rewards were so AMAZING, I can see some people buying and playing GW1 just to get some good stuff for GW2.
In other words, if the only thing you get for having a Hall of Monuments is a weapon or some armor with a nice skin, nobody will even care. Even a title isn't that big a deal.
On the other hand, maybe they're hoping everybody leaves GW1 so they can shut down the servers. If that's the case, all they have to do is introduce a few more nerfs, and then make the carry-over rewards from the Hall of Monuments a piece of crap.
All I can say is, "I'm glad I'm not a game developer." No matter what they do, a lot of people are going to be mad.

On the contrare, that is what guildwars is all about. Prestige is all based on what your armour looks like, what weapon skin you have, and what titles you have earned. It doesnt matter to most people if their Crystalline, or if their FoW armour is just as good as your 1k max armour lol. They want it to show how much more they have accomplished than you (its an ego thing).

I started my main characters HoM about 4 months ago, about 1 month after I started playing. Displayed Minis are full, Displayed heros are full, Displayed statues for honor are full and got kobd, 2/5 max armors and 0 destroyer weapons. By the time GW2 comes out (end of year or early next year) I think I will have accomplished a full HoM maybe not the r5 max title, but close. Set your goals on one thing at a time. Look for cheap minis, nothing says that they have to be rare, Hero armor upgrades are easy to obtain. Go for EotN armor as it looks to be cheaper. I don't know what to say about destroyer weapons, as they are the only real expensive items in the Hall.
Sol Deathgard
atm I have 25 minis (I collect) all but 4 heroes 24 titles (soon to be 26 soon as I finish with vanquisher of Tyria) 2 armor sets, & 2 destroyer wepons. How hard it is to do that depends on you & if your guild is one that likes doing stuff like that. I was in a guild that didn't & so I didn't think I would ever get my hall to where it is now, I joined a guild that likes doing stuff like this & within 2 mths my hall is close to done. Those that don't wanna put for the effort, it's thier choice, those that do, have fun with it, that what it's all about.
Pleikki
mm I guess it might be possible for someone but not for most. many ppl can get all titles armors etc. just minis. Who can afford mini kanaxai + panda + polar + greased + islan guardian + vizu + zhed + shiroken + ghostly Etc.. Destroyer weapons are like 40k/e? not that expensive.. But yeah just get guild that likes get titles etc and you can get that part done.
RedStar
I filled the hero and the armor part.
I'm working on the PvE titles (cartographer, guardian...).
I only have 2 mini pets (don't want to waste my money on it because I still want many Many armors xD).
And the destroyer monument is the last one I will complete. I still don't get it WHY my necro should waste money for an axe, a hammer and a sword when I don't use my warriors heroes...
But I should have my HoM done before GW2 is out.

There is probably some guy in Korea did it within a few weeks of GWEN coming out. There is always some smarty pants!

Eh... Just keep working at it. I only get to play only a few hours a day (4 or so) because work prohibits me from playing mass hours on GW amnd yet my HoM is extremely full (need Destroyer weapons and 3 more maxed titles and that's all). Anyways, keep at it. Try vanquishing-- you get good amounts of gold from it that will fund a lot of things for you HoM. Also, try doing hFF (if you know what it is). I used to make anywhere from 37k-75k in a day flat from it on my off days. Good luck. ^^

It costs approximatly 15 Million Gold to fill all the possible monument places not including the minature monument. (Although you can't get all the places LDoA and Survivor are Mutually Exclusive) The Mini Monument is about 35 Million atm to complete. So to get everything possible for the HoM would cost 50 million ish
pfaile
a full hall can be done like this, way less than 50 million
20 minis----this can be done for less than 100 k (plain whites, purples, special edition, etc.)
5 armors----use EotN armor and you will spend about 100 to 200k
11 destroyer weapons --- each weapon in material and k is somewhere around 40-50k each
5 hero armor upgrades---can be earned in challenge missions or bought for as little as a few k each.
"Kind of a Big Deal"- this can be done without spending anything, to get to rank 5 you will need to buy lots of stuff.
A hall is considered full when that much is completed.

You're asking 2 different things.
Is a maxed hall possible? Yes, easily. 'Maxed' means you have 20 minipets (could be white, free, whatever) 5 heroes, 5 titles, 5 elite armors, and 11 destroyer weps. Which is very easily possible. I'm not even sure if you need to get r6 koabd for it to be considered 'maxed'.
I think you're actually asking, is it possible to max everything in gw. Which means getting every single minipet no matter how rare, one of each destroyer weapon, every single hero upgraded armor (which is actually pretty easy, I did it just casual play) Every elite armor for your char (also doable, just prohibitively expensive) and every title maxed. This is impossible. The amount of money for the mini pets alone is probably unachievable without buying off ebay or something. Unless you happen to be really good at winning them in contests. And it's impossible to max every title. You can't get both ldoa and survivor. Aside from that, most of the pvp titles are unmaxable, unless you dedicate yourself and spend thousands of hours on one title alone, which means you'll never get any others. (This includes hero, champion, gladiator, commander, and skillz)
Fortunately, in order to have a monument in the hom for those titles you only need to be r3 (or r8 I believe for hero) So that much might be possible if you really dedicate yourself to it.

it's reletively easy all depending on how much cash you want to spend, you could get all white minipets and hero armor at 2-3k each, the only thing that really requires time and money are the weapons, titles and the elite armors.

Ebay kanaxai O.o ... lets say 1500 arms = 60,000 ecto = 270,000K
1000k on most Gold sites is $80.oo or somthing.
$80 x 270 = $21,600 US .
(assuming armbraces at 40e, and ecto at 4.5k)
I also made the 1500 armbraces price up, just as an example.
if my math is wrong please correct me, because i dont think i'd pay 21 thousand dollars for a kanaxai >_< . lol

Keep working for it.
Personally I've played since Dec. 2005 but new characters and real life has hindered me - not a single maxxed title (besides the protector crap). :'(
Someday I need to get off my lazy butt and get my ranger from 92% Tyrian exploration to 100.

It is possible. You have time till the end of 2008 or even 2009 and some months. GW2 will not be in beta before the end 2nd half of 2008, so you might have time till XMAS and I would bet even longer to max it.
I have several chars who already have an almost "complete" hall, just missing a few destroyer weapons usually.
Doing it for one char should not be too hard, the 10 destroyer weapons are probably the worst for a casual gamer.

You don't need to get everything. Just filling the hall is pretty easy, except for the destroyer weapons, though that's mostly because it's annoying to have to make/buy a bunch of useless weapons that you're only going to pass onto your heroes. Though mine already have maxed modded gold or greens.
The minipets only need 20, of any type. So start with all the white ones. You could probably find people just about giving away devourers/wallows etc. Most of the rest of the can be got for less than 10k each.
The titles only need 5, which can be pretty easy. Go for protectors (easy to do, and quick as well). You can then get however many more you need out of the 5 by doing the grind titles like SS/LB/norn/dwarf/asura/vanguard. If you're trying for max KOABD that's a different story and will likely take awhile. There's even a guide for getting this on the forums somewhere. Shouldn't be hard to find.
The heroes monument is pretty easy, you just need 5 statues or so. Not that hard to get, especially if you have NF. You can also almost fill it just by having factions. Black moa, imperial phoenix, the animal companion monument and then go get a spider from the UW. Then just finish slavers once (to fill your dungeon book) and you have the single hero armour piece you need.
The armour monument is just a matter of cash. A decent investment, since your main character should have alternate armour sets anyway (hp, energy, +armour, etc) and you can choose skins you like or with the cheapest materials. You can also skimp and just buy four armour pieces of each set (you don't need the helms to put into the monument) so it's not 75k, but 60k. I'm not sure about using GWEN armours, since they only cost 10k rather than 15k, but alot of the needed components are more expensive then many of the materials needed for 15k armour (depending on class). You can calculate costs yourself I'm sure.
The destroyer monument is lame. Again just money, but more useless since not only are they not as useful as having extra armours (since you're already likely to have max gold/green gear you're already using) most are also fugly. Some look ok, but you need all 11 which is fail. You could of course try and raid dungeons for onyx and try to salvage for the mountains of grainite you need, but I'd recommend just saving your money and wait till anet makes an announcement about what you get for having a full hall/full destroyer monument. If it's something worthwhile, just buy all the mats and get the weaps in one go, else not bother with this monument at all.

I am 2 Destroyer Weapons away from filling it out, no it isnt hard.

I just recently completed mine, it's not a big deal.
* 20 different minis is an easy objective, buy cheap ones that you're missing. If you have enough characters you should by now have the necessary amount anyway.
* 5 heroes/pets is ridiculously easy and should take a couple of hours max to get. I actually added all 25 heroes and 3 pets just for the heck of it. Black Moa and Spider are trivial to add, Phoenix requires the leveling effort. Different challenge missions are easy enough to herohench, and when you do Glint's Challenge for Brotherhood Armor you'll get some Destroyer Cores as well.
* 5 titles is again trivial but takes some time. Actually, everything up to r5 KoaBD is pretty reasonable and only r6 requires mindless grinding.
* 5 sets of prestige armor, that's a couple of more than you actually need. If you have been salvaging stuff along the way then GW:EN armor is the way to go because of smaller price tag. No need to rune or dye, just record them and either store away or recycle right away.
* 11 destroyer weapons, biggest waste of them all. Doing all dungeons at least once both in NM and HM and clearing UW and FoW provided about 40 diamonds and onyx to me - your mileage may vary. The rest I bought, them being pretty affordable these days. Granite and iron were cordially provided by Hulking Stone Elementals in Old Ascalon (55 SV necro, regular salvage all loot). Crafted one of each skin, heroes appreciate, my purse didn't.

I only need the destroyer weapons to get the maxed HoM and i am saving the money at the moment, lol. Its a really enourmous quantity of k's just throwed to the trashbin. If you can use them account wide... yeah, but this way.... no.And if they were cool.... well they would worth the effort. But the real thing is that they are almost horrible (for me). Mmm the spear ... might be i like it a bit.
And BTW, dont Anet tell ya what u will get then? No sentences about that on Gaile chats, i think. And u dont get a text in-game, do you?.
I hope that all of our efforts to get it maxed doesnt transform into a "I fully maxed a HoM and only got this GW2 Tshirt"

This is ridiculous. I guess you don't have to get them all, but if the rewards in GW2 get better depending on how stocked your hall of monuments is, it might be worth it. I always thought it was a bit silly of them to have destroyer weapons customised. If they can "Dedicate" minipets, surely they can "Dedicate" weapons so that you can display them in your main characters' Hall of Monuments and use them on their intended character? What will my Elementalist do with a Destroyer Scythe, really?
I intend to buy all the Destroyer weapons in the end...but use them on their intended characters. When GW:2 comes out, I'll put them all in my Elementalist's HoM. I think it's the only way to do it... Only downside to it all is that if you show your Hall off to anyone you have to say "Oh, by the way boys, I have all the destroyer items but I#m not putting them in the hall yet".
As for obtaining said Destroyer Weapons...I'm enjoying re-doing NM dungeons and filling up Dungeon Guides for Reputation - I'm obtaining a fair few Onyx Gemstones from those, and let's face it, the 5k + diamonds are hardly a big deal.
As for minatures...you only need 20 to "fill" the Devotion monument. I've got 13 or so in there now from festivals, promotions and first birthdays. In the next few months I'll start on my second birthdays...I should be able to fill the Devotion monument up nicely. There is no need to buy minipets if you have a stack of characters, even if they're just mules.

I would speculate that the carry-over benefits will be determined by the level of the floating statue over your titles monument. There are 5 levels to it based on your accomplishments, and you can max it out even if you don't get the 30-title title by filling the other displays. It just seems like there has to be some significance to that statue, in my mind. So once you fill that out to lvl 5, then you are probably good.
I might be completely off here, but it seems like it might make sense. Otherwise, why not just throw up another banner in that spot? Anyways, benefits probably won't be substantial anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much

Jenim meant that the people who cried can buy it in the store later on.
I don't think that will happen though, just as you can't buy the preorder factions/nightfall weapons in the online store.
They're mine! And I'm not sharing .

For those who said r5 KoaBD is needed to fill the HoM, your wrong, at least according to wiki. Once you have 5 titles/accomplishments, 5 heroes/pets, 5 elite armor, 11 destroyer weapons, 20 mini pets, you only need r4 KoaBD. This is because once you fill out the non-KoaBD parts, the statue thing at the Honor goes up a "KoaBD level" (or whatever you want to call the progression), and sense without filling out the rest of the HoM r5 is needed, only r4 is needed with a filled HoM to have that statue all the way out.
The Little Viking
got 1 maxed...working on a second.

You need Rank 1 of Maxed Titles "Kind of a Big Deal", which is only 5 maxed titles needed. Once you reach lvl 1, "Kind of a Big Deal" will show on screen when you enter your hall. Then you can display all your Maxed Title statues and will be considered filled for the part. Not sure what you mean by r5 and r4 (rank 5/4?).

As has been pointed out, filling all the monuments, with 20 mini-pets, 5 Hero Armours, 5 elite character armours, and 11 Destroyer Weapons increases the statue by one rank.. so maxed monuments will turn a normally R3 statue into a R4 one. Does that make it clearer?

I'm not following about having to "fill" the hall of monuments and what is this about "improving" the statues? I have R2 I guess (People Know Me) but what does that do in HoM? The statues don't look any different to me. So far I have 2 elite armor sets, are you saying if I get 5 elite armor sets there is some benefit to that? A pointer to where to read about that would be most helpful. Same with destroyer weapons, as a warrior, I have a sword and shield. Are yo saying there is some benefit to getting all of the destroyer weapons? I already have things displayed on all monuments. Thanks -Joe

The statue at the Monument of Honor (the one that doesn't accept tapestry) reacts to your KoaBD rank and the state of the monuments. There are 6 different stages corresponding to ranks 0 to 5, and if you fill all the 5 monuments that is counted as an extra rank. So, r5 KoaBD (My GH Smells) gets a 'maxed' statue. R4 KoaBD (Leather-bound Books) + 5 full monuments qualifies for a maxed statue as well. The wiki page has a screenshot showing the progression.
As to what that means, nobody knows until GW2 comes out
