As to the Gw2 beta: I hope it's open, because I hate closed betas, they further the creation of a highly rich ultra-elite class of players in MMOs.

LucasArts confirms MMO, but it's not Knights of the Old Republic. US, February 14, 2008 - IGN recently reported on a list of upcoming games unveiled at EA's latest investor's meeting. During a presentation entitled "Best Creative Talent," EA touched on a number of titles that were considered the pinnacle of design, putting amazing creative talent to work on building inspiring worlds and impressive games. Along with the announcement of new titles from EA, a slide showing some titles (both old and new) was showcased during the conference. While some games, BioWare's "New MMO" included, are obviously referencing games to come, EA has contacted us further and commented that not every game mentioned is upcoming. So where does BioWare stand in all of this? We know there's a new MMO on the way, and that both EA and LucasArts have acknowledged this publicly, but there's no definite answer on whether or not we'll see KOTOR's return in the future. In contacting LucasArts about its works with BioWare, and the possibility of a future KOTOR product, the company stated that, "Yes, we are working with BioWare. We've announced that we're working with the developer on a project, but it has nothing to do with Knights of the Old Republic." We'll have more news on BioWare's MMO, and future LucasArts projects, as news develops. |
I really believe that we will not be seeing anymore extra content for Guild Wars 1 because it would take time away from Guild Wars 2. Yeah it would be cool to have something extra but the sooner Guild Wars 2 gets here the better.
As far as beta it's pretty much what Lonesamurai has been saying. Guild Wars 2 beta is the 2nd half of 2008 which is anywhere from July-December. I just wish they would give us something to nibble on, most people are excited about GW2. We wanna see the goods !

Starcraft 2 is projected to be released late this year or early next year, about in time for the GW2 beta. They're not going to be competing.
I was pretty sure Fallout 3 was further along too, what with a fair amount known about it already, and having been in progress for a year or two.
Diablo 3 is an unknown quantity; if Blizzard is even working on it I suspect it'd be out somewhat later than GW2. Then again, they do tend to announce their games later in the development cycle. If both came out around the same time it'd be an interesting battle; I'd almost certainly buy both anyway, but that's just me.

Bleh Starwars crap... lame.
Nothing will substitute for GW2.
You are forgetting to take into account they have been working on GW 2 since the release of NightFall.
27 October 2006.............
That is 2 years project time already..
Just because something is not announced to the public, does not mean it is not already under development.
Clearly they knew Nightfall was the last Campaign, GWEN is nothing more then a side-project featuring various tech elements
already completed for GW 2 , just take a look at "A GATE TO FAR" and it's plainly obvious elements of the next engine are in there.
