Is it my imagination or are rares really hard to come by these days?
I am working on the Wisdom title, and have gotten to 2500 rares identified, I look at the time it took me, and then at the amount i need for the next lvl, 2500 more. OMG. I really dont want to run chests for 3 more years.
I would love to beable to play the game, go thru quests and missions and get rare drops. and let my title seeker id them.
But unless i am soloing GOK or farming Titans in DNKP, or doing a COF run - I hardly ever see a rare.
This game is called Guild Wars, not Rambo.
My guild has a fun time doing quests and helping each other out. Some titles seem to be counter productive towards the whole concept of the game.
I ve got legendary vanquisher and it was fun and a challange playing with guildees, but got maybe 1 or 2 rares in each zone i vanquished.
This just seems wrong to me.

u're not supposed to earn all titles simply playing the game. why having multiple dozens of titles when just one could do the job?

well I'm sure that lots of people who have the title maxed (10 000ids) bought their unids from botters back when there were constantly spamming.
It will certainly take quite a while of time to get the title if you're going to go and find/id every single one of the golds yourself. But hey, thats what titles are... they wouldn't be much of an accomplishment if they didn't take some measure of work.

If you play the same character in PvE all the time, you're not going to see a ton of gold drops. Just how it is. I've noticed in my discussions with other players that those who say they are "lucky" with their drops distribute their time relatively evenly over a lot of toons, and those that are "unlucky" play one PvE toon exclusively.
Makes sense if you think about it from an anti-botting standpoint. Can't prove conclusively that it's true...but the pattern I've observed has been quite clear.

It's not too hard to find spots in Hard mode(pun intended) that yeild a gold drop every ~3-5 minutes, or less. That said, if you are trying to get all the rares yourself to max Wisdom, you're doing it wrong. If you really want Wisdom, buy unID's from others.

Let me be clearer, I dont want this title to be easy, and i dont want farmers to beable to go into a zone and get 30 rares. But maybe someone can come up an idea to have rares be a reward instead of somthing you buy or farm..

Sure? I made some VAettir to pay Tickets before the Last Canthan new year festival and I got 3..5 golds per run. I even got 3 usable ones out of 30 or so.

Oh I so want this title. Throw this idea in Sardelac while you're at it.
It can replace all the nonmaxed titles for which I can't be bothered to farm, grind, id, pvp, pve, mission, or vanquish.
And it can confer absolutely NO benefit to display: No health, no movement buff, no damage buff, no extra energy, no skill, no damage.

Even then, I still got several golds just through normal play. Now I scarcely see one through a day's worth of play (several hours)

My necro was charmed as hell last weekend. I was just doing standard issue Vabbi quests and at least once an hour, some gold dropped. I also got a shitload of dye.

Put all those crappy whites, blues and purples to work. sAme with chalices and rin relics. Sell them, buy golds, get title. hell, get a monk and charge for runs. Take a hero monk for smiter, get a runnee to heal hero, charge 2k a piece that's 21 golds per run plus what gold, rares, and sell loot drops for you. Each run is about 45 minutes if you're good, so you can do more than one in a day. I'd say that cuts your 3 years down to about 6 months.

to impoc...CoF is cathedral of flames dungeon in GWEN. You can 2-man the entire dungeon in under an hour.

i'm working on this title by myself, that means no money spend no gold unid, so far i got 4.8k, yea, it's kinda slow, but still fun.

Titles are meant to be a long term goal, and they are all doable.
If you want to max it fast its going to cost you a fortune, nobody that has it now maxed did so without purchasing at least a few unident items from other players.
When I hit rank 2 I basically gave up myself, just not worth time and effort to try and max that title for me. There is no real benifit attached to that title other than to try and impress others.

Gold and green drops from monsters have gotten ridiculously low. For golds, I rarely see more than 1 or 2 a day, and have resorted to buying lockpicks and work on my luck title at the same time. Unfortunately, that probably costs even more than buying unid'ed golds from players.
As for greens, let's not even go there. I recently bought and finished Factions. I completed all missions with master's awards, and probably 95% of quests. Guess what, not a single green has dropped for me.
It's all loot-scaling...

MAX wisdom title matters, and is probably one of the harder titles to get.

I need 50 more for level 4 wisdom. This title, for me at least, just happens in the back ground as I've never bought unident gold items.

I don't have any trouble finding Rares. I can just warp to my guild hall and there's usually one sitting around.
Seriously though I don't think you're meant to be able to max the Wisdom title without chest running and/or farming a whole lot. (Or buying unIDed rares, but being able to afford that also implies farming.) Obviously that's not for everyone but it provides a long term goal for the people who care to spend the time on it.
Still, with the advent of chests, lockpicks, and HM, rares are more plentiful than ever before.

I have around 2.2k rares IDed (nearly rank 5) since the title came out, on my main character - too bad it's one of those "unlucky" characters I don't get crap from playing on, rare-wise.
Most of my golds have come from other characters I farm more on (my rit and my monk). I just make the mistakes of IDing some of those on the characters I find them, but in general I'm careful about those.
I might make it a goal of mine to farm for cash to buy some unids (I'm slowly title hunting), but I've got other stuff I want to work on before.

I do the glacial farm alot and typically keep only my golds and grapes, sometimes dyes, but really i do the runs 3-5 rinses before i head back to town, lets you fill your inventory full each time, typically 1 keeper drop per 3 full inventories, but tons of mods and whatnot. The time doing that you are able to get a decent amt of golds to work towards a wisdom title, it just gets boring after a while and if you end up with a worm going through bjora you want to throw something at your screen

Well eh, I got r7 chromium shards(w/ crap mods tho) that dropped while Vanquishing Cantha, and Elite Nec tomes & overall about 30 golds while clearing all of Cantha. Most of which were runes, maybe you just have bad luck...we all get a spell of bad luck sometime :P

This is the most bogus thing I've ever heard. Period. The drop rate for gold has increased exponentially from every source other then chests.
It took me over 300 hours play time before my first gold droped for me back in Prophecies.
Last night in Urgoz HM, I had 6 golds drop for me in an hour and a half.
Now, chest running is a slow, tedious process, but by just playing the game, golds are easier to get now then ever before.

I think I agree with HawkofStorms. The only way I got golds fast in Proph was 55ing the troll cave outside Droks, but even that was pretty slow. Now, going through Snowman Dungeon HM with a party full of H&H, I still get anywhere from 1-5 gold drops, plus 3-4 golds from chests, all in 15-20 minutes. Much faster than anything before.

Didnt say they werent easy to get. I am saying 10,000 is too many, relative to the time it took me to get legendary everything, What would be the point in running chests for 3 more years? I've already got over 3500 hours played on this one charactor... This game was funner when it was about helping guildees.
here's another math problem for you 90minX6raresX10,000 = 150,000min = 2500 hours. Ok doesnt sound so bad, as long as i dont go to work, sleep or waste time interacting with the world. I can get that done in 100 days.
Have you farmed trolls lately? How many rares you think you ll get?
