Deleting All Characters and Starting Fresh

My game says i've been playing for 29 months. My oldest character is 26 months (Monk). My next oldest is turning 24 months any day now (Ranger). And my 3rd oldest is 22 months (Warrior). All three have completed Prophecies.

But no one has any title.

I used to be a member of a guild (Holy Order of the Light), but when it became in-active, I quit and never joined any guild since then.

I have a copy of all chapters (including BMP), i have purchased all available skills unlock (including core) and I have an extra account with GW:EN.

Recently, I was playing Nightfall as Derv and I got stocked in Gate of Pain. So, I decided to play as Paragon which I have quickly made to Survivor Level 1, but got killed when I was doing a mission on Prophecy. So, I decided to make another Warrior which I was also made to Survivor Level 1 in only few hours (one playing session...less than 3 hours i think.) But sadly, it died again in Prophecy when I was playing with PUG.

But one thing I have noticed is that the game is easier now (maybe because of the improved H/H support) so I thought I will just delete all my characters (I have already used up my character slots) and start new. 1 Character per chapter.

I think I will still be able to finish 3 chapters (and GW:EN) before the release of GW2.

I know I am about to get another mini (for 2nd year anniversary) but i'm sure it won't worth more than 5k (i got imp for my 2nd anniversary).

So this is what I will do.

1. Salvage all crafting materials from the armors of all my characters.
2. Salvage all runes and insignias.
3. Sell all saleable items like mini pets (I have 4 first year and 1 2nd year) and will probably give me about 10k all.
4. I'm going to retain all my weapons (nothing rare, just ordinary gold with 15^50 | /20/20 | 30HP mod) for my team (me and my heroes).
5. Empty my inventory (excluding the crafting materials) either by NPC or free giveaway in Ascalon.

Since, I am beginning to like Nightfall, I am going to create a new Warrior and will concentrate on this character and finish (1) GW:EN (2) Prophecy (3) Faction [i hate Faction] and (4) Nightfall.

The only title that I may be able to get is SS and LB because I am really not good at detailed game (i won't even attempt the HM).

I hope I will have enough gold to buy the armor from Consulate Docks and to buy one Elite Warrior Tome (8k), a 50HP Rune (15k), +1 Sword Rune, +1 Strength Rune and +1 Tactics Rune and other insignias that will increase my armor. My current gold is 12k so probably i sell one of my swords.

I am excited to do this.

I would HIGHLY advise against doing this, but I think if it's what you want to do, go again. I know people that took breaks from the game and came back, they deleted all their stuff/gave it all away, and deeply regretted doing so. I deleted chars left and right restarting over and over, I wish I hadn't for the amount of gold I would have saved and the time I invested in those characters. I also don't like redo'ing missions...

...Okay? What's to discuss?

I think this is a rather rash way to go about this. Assuming you'd already have one character from each campaign from where you're at now, I'd just continue from there and not try to deal with the hassle of deleting characters and starting them over.

I'm also confused at why you would suggest that they have no titles when you don't even seem very enthusiastic about trying to get them.

Again, I'm confused at your play time of 26 months, your completion of a few campaigns with a few characters, and yet only a reserve of 12k.

If you really want a new game experience, try Ritualist, or Necromancer, or Elementalist, or some caster profession that you don't seem to play of some sort in a campaign you don't go to much, because it seems like what you want is to start fresh, but I don't think that require deleting everything you already have.

Why don't you delete every character except the one that is close to his second birthday, and once he gets it delete him?

I tried all characters already but I really didn't enjoy most of them. I only liked the 3 (Monk, Ranger and Warrior). I don't even like the Derv and the Paragon (which is the reason why I bought Nightfall). I used to love the Necro but when I couldn't make more minions in the past, I didn't bother playing necro again. I still have my Bortak Staff with me which used to be very expensive back then.

My problem of having so many characters is that I always get stucked. When a quest/mission becomes tough, I always stop and start bragging how good my other characters are (which are not actually great because I haven't done anything with them except for finishing one chapter). I tried Ass, too and I used to have a lvl 20 and almost done with Faction but she looks so thin and her armor is so...unattractive no matter what dye i use in it.

So, i guess having only one character will help me focus on the game....i think.

I hope you're not really serious about deleting your chars. Try to get them new weaps and armor so you will have something to aim for and not get bored. Btw, try to join an alliance so you can have more friends to play with.

It won't become more difficult just because you delete all your characters. You're probably better off playing a new game, really.

Not that I care if anyone does that.

@Zany, i took me few days to make my decision. It is cheaper than buying new GW Nightfall.

Wait, ill check how much NF is. Coz my other account is Prophecy with GW:EN.

Nahhh...deleting the characters is cheaper than US49.99 hahahaha

hhmm i have deleted chars before but not all of them..

sounds like you just want a clean slate, now that you have more experience.

so i would say delete away and have fun..

if that doesn't work, maybe play different game.

That's your problem...You quit so easily, rerolling characters isn't going to help you break HABIT, persevere through.

You have 2 accounts with 12 char slots between them, that should be more then enough to do what you want on a new/empty slot. And if you feel you must delete something, why don't you just delete your youngest and/or least played char and leave the rest alone? Its really silly to just lose all that progress for absolutely no good reason, especially when in a week from now you may end up regretting it.

Yeah you should do it. You still got free char slots? (8 from all chapters) so you can make new for those. and you said You got no titles? (Lb/ss/eotn titles??^^)

Umm this sounds to me like you just dont like GW anymore and find it boring. I would just leave your characters as is and go play a different game for a while. As your lack of concentration on a single task in this game seems to be well... lack thereof.

I've been deleting characters in the past. that's why my oldest character is 3 months shy compared to the age of my account. deleting characters isn't big deal to me.

the only benefit I get from having an old character is birthday gift and they only worth 1k - 4k these days.

besides, all my characters are Female...and I'm tired of looking at their butts when they run. and i am starting to get that habit when i'm walking. i want a male warrior this time. all female characters are banned in my account

LOL bye bye to Alesia Bluefeather, Reyna Bluefeather (R), Reina Bluefeather (W), Athena BlueFeather, Antz Bluefeather (LOL even this male name is a female character), Althea Bluefeather, Freeda Bluefeather and Sheebee Bluefeather.

Don't worry ladies, no one will remember you

Antz will be reborn as a Huge Fat Warrior.

Hey guys, i will only lost toons here. I'm not going to loose the knowledge of the game. I still know how make it to level 20 in 3 hours (or less) and I still know how and where to cap the elites and still know how to enjoy the game. And for more than two years, I think playing with Male Characters is a nice change. I'm a male. lol.

Buy 1 character slot, put everything on one of your characters where a new character can't get to it. Make new character. Then you won't regret throwing away those hours.

GW isn't boring. But my other account is boring coz i'm working on LDoA on that. And I'm still level 15 hehehe.

Hey guys, i'm not bored. In fact, the reason why I am going to do this is because I just found out that Nightfall is a very nice chapter and I want all my characters to start in that chapter. When i started playing Nightfall, I tried to make it to level 7 during the tutorial (using /resign). I wasn't aware that I can make it to level 20 even before I get my second profession. That alone is great already! plus you have a 4-man-custom-made-team!

And btw, i play an average of 4 hours a day. everyday [i play as soon as i get home from work.]

so, you see in one session, i can have a level 20 character already. and i don't need to grind anymore coz i have good starting weapon already.

cheer up. this will be cool!

Don't delete characters, you'll regret it later. I still pine for my male ele and they Y3 gift he'd be getting....

If you are interested in title chasing, don't believe the hype, you don't need to have LDoA or Survivor. Also, try HM, it's not that difficult.

Do what I do. I call it the 1k challenge. Basically, my new chars are only allowed 1k from storage to start them out. No runes, no insignia, nothing.

Don't.

You may be looking to recapture the wonder and excitement of starting out Gw.

It doesn't work. Because you will not be new to the game.

EDIT: Yeah, I recently remade my necro Zahr Dalsk, but that's because the old one sucked and dated back to when I started playing Gw. Plus, the old one was Tyrian. The new one is a hot Canthan necro.

Deleting and "restarting" is best way to quit game imho.

done it with Diablo 2 - when you go thought pain of deleting several L90+ characters with best gear and just tossing everything on ground in camp in public game called "Free Stuff" ... you never restart, it feels too much pointless.

So, if you want to quit GW, delete all your chars.

If you want to play, deleting characters is damn pointless (if only because of 3rd year minis.)

Already did that when the HoM came into the game. I only have my legendary survivor monk for pve and the rest of the roster is pvp only.

There really is no reason anymore to have more then one character for pve since the pve skills allow any character to fulfill just about any role.

I did it a couple of months before Xmas, in a sort of make or break mood. I also went for all NF toons (except Factions only professions). I now have a couple of things I never had before - one toon that's done all 3 campaigns (instead of 3 that have done 1) and a fast approaching "full" HoM.

Before re-rolling, I did take a month-long break and I think, together with a fresh start, that did help rejuvenate my interest in the game. It's a shame I'm 2-3 years away from the next line of mini's, but I only had one toon that old and he usually got crap anyway.

the pack rat in me shivers at the thought of deleting level 20 toons that have finished the game.....mules (level 7 and under) no problems.....any character that I have put time and energy into---just a no can do on the delete. If I am bored with a profession then I just dont play that one for a while (had the problem with my necro as well but for different reasons.).....but eventually I find that I want to play that character again and they get dusted off (and a few bday gifts opened....) they end their 'mule' days and begin a new.

but OP if you feel comfortable deleting---go right ahead, I just say put everything in storage that you think you might want/need and hit the ole delete button (and type the name in....)

You will regret it.

If you really want to start almost from scratch, put all your money and items on your old chars and buy a new char slot.

I absolutely agree with zweistein, sure way to get bored of a game.

You should just play another game. I am playing Panzer General for Windows at the moment for example.

Restarting can make the game more interesting, but missing out on guild events sucks.

I started replaying a few weeks ago. Now have a lvl20 warrior, and a lvl16 paragon which is still on the noob island.

You say you restart because you keep getting stuck on missions then switch characters so you have something to "brag" about. If you're getting stuck on missions, you have nothing to brag about.

If you truly want to start afresh, get better at the game with your established characters before deleting them.

Just to get Survivor or to play again through the game? You can play again any mission with the current existing character.
The only thing you will get is a lot of quests to do.

You will be punished you for the sin of re-roll.

The moment I'd have any hesitation to delete game characters because of the "progress" and "achievements" invested in them, I'd remember this quote by Tyler Durden from Fight Club:

I did it last year, deleted everything and started a new ele. I kept all cash and everything i had in storage though. Just means i can now focus on one toon rather than trying to decide which of the many to do something with

had the game for 29 months and you have only beat proph? It sounds like this could help you alot just to start fresh but do you want to spend another 2 years beating 1 campaign? it is up to you but you should stick it out. Are you a casual gamer? how often do you log on in a week?

I know this sounds harsh but you should get better the more you play the game and yet in 29 months you have only beat proph, and have no titles what so ever, I know people (casual players) who have only had the game for a few weeks and have a few titles and 1 to 2 are max.

I have never deleted any characters, I hate putting all the time/effort into them, I would rather keep them, and just have another spot to create another one over deleting. As for your situation, if you really wanted to start over, keep 1 character, put all of your things that you have worked hard on him, and then start over, you may find that you really want that character back and still have him to play.

Go for kind of a big deal r1.
Last double ss/lb event i realised after over 2 years of play it felt like i haden't achieved anything in GW due to not having any titles. So i dusted off my Paragon and went for them.
So far ive got SS,LB,protector of cantha & protector of elona.

I literaly hero/henched all of them at an astonishing rate despite not putting that many regular hours in. Its been cool having an actual objective to aim towards, i definetly recommend it.
