Why call in sick. When I'm the boss no need. I just go to work log in to GW and play if I wanna. O and post too!

I don't think loss of job is an option for most people. Becareful it doesn't become a habit. Most of us would like to stay home and do nothing but play games but real life must come first - if you fail to see that real life commitments are a priority then you should seek help or stop playing games altogether
PS. I post of forums from work as I can between jobs- play from home after work and after family time

I've never done it, but I know a few people that have called in sick in order to make monthly ATs

This needs /closed or /moved_to_off_topic in my opinion.
Anyhoo...Only time I take time off work for GW is when a new campaign/expansion comes out, and then, I use holiday time . I try not to call in sick whenever possible...because whenever someone else does I always think "yea, you just want a day off..." so I naturally think that's what others think I'm up to.

Nope I've never called in sick for guild wars. I've called in sick because I was actually, *gasps* sick, slept till noon, and played guild wars because i was bored. But not especially so I could play guild wars or any game. I need money more then i need guild wars.

Only missed classes when I was actually sick. I'd show up on GW 'cause I was bored, but sometimes I'd log off pretty fast 'cause I'd be too tired/sick to play. Never missed a class to play, I already feel guilty for not being able to go to class for a valid reason... so you can imagine how I feel about canceling my whole semester because I broke my leg and can't even go to class. Gonna give me time for GW, but TBH I'd rather be in class with my friends.

I called out of work the day Factions launched.
That was one of my favorite GW days. There was a special 1-day event for those who preordered, so I started my new Rit and had a great time PUGging through parts and going through with guildies in other parts.

And they say WoW is addicting...
Can't say I've missed school or work just to play Guild Wars. For me, I have to stay at school because it's incredibly vital, and money is pretty important as well. I feel guilty enough that I just missed my bus.

The day I call in sick to college to play GW is the day I quit playing, then again I'm studying what I've dreamed of for a long time now (music)

I'm at work right now, so, No.
I have scheduled days off in the past for Ghost Recon, but not for GW.
I don't like to miss work, I've too much to do, like troll thse forums and flame.

Never and never will……….. But I do like the extra playing time when my kids get sick and I get to watch them

Very funny coincidence this topic. I'm a hard worker, but two weeks ago I just didn't show up at work that monday cause I just had enough of it, no note from the doctor or whatever, just illegaly absent. The next day in front of the whole team my boss asked in a very special tone: 'So where did you hang out yesterday?' 'Defenitely not here': I answered. And that was the end of it. Still working there.
They damn well know that they won't find a hard working clown like me any time soon. And btw here in Belgium you get a replacement income when you're thrown out and it's almost as high as a full time job the first year. Time enough to find another job in the meantime.
And yeah I played GW all day that day, bite me.

I have never been sick in my whole life, so people wouldn't be believe me if I did so.

If I'm calling in sick at work/missing school, I'd be too sick to play GW >.>

I DID (unlike some others) actually read the OP, and I guess after not missing a single day in a year you deserve a little me-time Who hasn't phoned in sick 'cause they wanna laze in the sunshine or take a time out to relax, or sleep off that terrible hangover? lol It's kinda normal. |
What about responsibilitys, deadlines, ripple effects?
Job don't get done or someone else has to do it aswell as their own work, your actions have an effect on others and their work, you ever think about that?
I can imagin doing someone elses work if they are sick or has to take care of a sick family member, but if I found out they stayed home to play video games, NO WAY. They would be looking for a new job.

<<< at work now

Just Once didnt go school cause wanted Play gw. that was wonderful story

I've called in sick because I simply was out of town for the day and even though I requested the time off, my silly supervisor forgot to schedule me off. And I was part time at the time too. But I've never called in sick JUST to play games.
Richardt
Eh I've done similar-not for GW-most of my alliance and guild is offline during the day so when I'm legitimately sick, it's kinda boring to be on. And plus all of my work can be done from home, so if I am sick, I do try to get some work done (damn my work ethic!).
But the day after my Master's defense I did take a day off just to play my PS3
TBH everyone needs a little me time lol. Did plenty of that right after finals as an undergrad

At work now, but I can't play GW on this ancient computer. If I feel like taking a day off I just call in and say "Not coming in today."
Zahr Dalsk
If the weather is shit and I'm staying home anyways, sure, I might play Gw.
Never for Gw itself though.

Never have, never will.
It's a game.
College = Grades = Job = Money
Money > GW
Even if I were to call in sick and screw around, I'd go to a theme park or something, not waste it in front of a screen.

Im dealing with mono right now..so ive been out of school for awhile..sleep in till 1-2pm sometimes, and I would just get on gw since there is nothing better to do then watch gw with my grandmom >< ew
but wow after reading alot of the responses it makes me feel a bit weak. I mean Im a senior in Highschool and I graduate in May, I allready dont have a job so like im not getting any money (looking for one now tho)
Now if I DID have a job, hell no. I wouldnt call out of a job for gw.. I agree with what Snow Bunny said:

Nope, money > video games. Because,
Code syntax is baed. Kinda fixed it.
Code:
if money < cost of food, electricty, etc then no video games

I have done it on several occasions. Not just to play Guild Wars though. But, primarily because I was just exhausted and didn't feel like working. I can get away with it most of the time. I never miss really important things though.
Arkantos
I've missed school due to being sick/feeling like crap in the morning and played Guild Wars during the day, but I've never stayed home from school just to play Guild Wars.
FlameoutAlchemist
I haven't necessarily skipped school per se. I've skipped lectures and lab days that I've either already done or gotten ahead of. Like Rahja said, I never miss the important stuff.
RedNova88
Well before I finished school I would "fake it" on an odd occasion to stay home because I had better things to do on that particular day. And after I finished whatever I was doing I'd spend some quality time with Guild Wars.
Lady Lozza
I've never called in sick unless I quite literally can't even manage to crawl out of bed - and then it's no playing GW anyway, just sleep. It's just a bad work ethic. I suffer from the occassional migraine and old sports injuries - I actually need my sick time to cope with the days I am sick.
Mike_version2
I would rather get paid/educated than take a day off to play GW (or any game).
