for big things that take a long time or are complex i use wiki, for something that would take less than 1 minute to explain requiring nothing more than a little effort to type the reply out. yet even that is too much for todays gamers.

exsample. i witnessed someone request a build template, then a week later i asked for a sword template for my war, i got referred to wiki, and people starting bashing on me for asking for a template. lol

i am not needy at all because i do not ask for advice or help on the game anymore and only ever asked a few times.

i come from a time when gamers took the time to explain things, they enjoyed helping, i was once one of those gamers. who worked hard to promote gaming and to support it back when being a gamer was looked down on by many. playing LOD i can not remember one time i heard someone say.
Go wiki it, or go to arreats and read.

shows the difference in the times. now a days i dont even have to talk to another player at all for any reason, i can hero/hench and use wiki (which is what i do) but i hate searching wiki. plus if i dont have tips on info, then i wont know to search for it at all. but players are to busy to offer tips. so i'v learned to do without.

(if people were to see that clearly and without a doubt, RMT and bots wouldn't exist because there wouldn't be enough greed to sustain it)

And no, the community is not as bad as it seems. Do not throw the baby out with the bath water!
i understand how you feel about the botters, i used to feel the same way.

about the community thing, iv seen people act their worst both in the game and on this forum, so as i always make sure to check the bathwater, its still dirty after bathing the child, so its gotta be tossed out. the baby is safe, in other words, not everyone sucks, but the vast majority do. they do not practice self control or manners most of the time. just sit in the main cities and ask basic questions, or make basic mistakes in a party to see.

outside of my good friend who came to gw from lod with me, i have met only two people in 25 months who i consider "friends" on gw. the other people i have had limited contact with that i found to be alright people are to preoccupied with other things to get to know well enough. plus they are no help, they are nice when they say "look on wiki" but thats about it. lol.

ps: this is not me QQing, just explaining my view, i have moved far beyond being bothered by it anymore, now i expect it. its commonplace in todays gaming community.

And against forum policy if you bother to read the big sticky on the top of every single subforum that was just made this week.

Well maybe all the top 10 HBers are bots, you just don't know that.

Oh wait, you would, nevermind maybe the other 9 in the top 10 are bots

Or are you a bot? You do magically win maches when trailing 19-20 at the buzzer, lol.

The thing that bothers me is this...

Why did ANET add bot reporting if it has absolutely no effect?

There's a certain guild (this has been posted before I'm sure) who's tag is similar to VVA* which appears to be comprised of nothing but RA bots.

One member of the guild (with a name similar to Shadow Demon X**) has been botting for months now.

Everyone knows about it (and talks about it when they see these bots in game) and everyone /reports it.

There have been 100's (and probably 1000's) of reports now about these players, who use the same player names (they don't switch around a lot to complicate things).

So presumably somewhere at ANET there's an interface to the in game reporting statistics with some very obvious violations coming up right at the top of the list and they completely ignoring it, and have been for months and months.

Frustrating, why bother adding the "feature" to begin with?

To everyone that thinks bots can play as well/better than humans... LOL.

Added: Just for for the sake of people that are unfamiliar with this particular brand of bot. Currently you can identify it thusly:

1) Spams certain skills even before the battle starts (such as heal sig and deadly riposte). Yes I know that noobs do this too, read on. ;-)
2) Once the battle starts (i.e. pre timer ends and gates open) the bot will follow closest teammate until an enemy is in range. Test this by stopping if the bot is following you, he'll run right into you and hang briefly until...
3) When enemies are in range the bot will attack the closest target.
4) While attacking the bot uses a full skill bar, seems to just spam as adren and recharge allow.
5) Every so often it will recycle by following a teammate and then attacking closest target.

And of course all bots don't reply to chat, although some can randomly spam a generic message.

wish admins here would help sift out the pointless posts like "bots > some players", this is a genuine problem.

I haven't seen any bots run Healing Signet and Frenzy yet. So as far as I'm concerned, they're better than half of the real warriors I get paired up with.

Eventually, the bots will play so realistically that we will not be able to tell the difference... that would be scary. You could have an online friend that's actually a bot... oO.

It's scary, it's like those scifi movies where humans start becoming obsolete and robots take over. *shudders*

Technically though, it's kind of stupid. The point of a game is to have fun and conquer challenges. If the bots play perfectly, the challenges are nonexistent and neither is the fun. So they don't get the most out of the game - until they learn to simulate fun that is, which hopefully won't be for a while.

Let's lead a revolution!

Months and months is actually quite fast for anet. I mean, look at it this way, it took anet over 1 year to fix the broken gvg map that is Isle of Jade (and is arguably still broken). I believe the time frame for the ban on [Vibe] was also pretty similar (which was later retracted). So, by that time frame, they still have months and months to be right on schedule with bans and a fix for the [VVAR] bots.

As a side note, from my experience the bots only launch out of international districts, so if you don't want them on your team, use American or Euro districts.

For God's sake STOP these bot RIGHT NOW!
No matter how many times we reported, they are everywhere still!

These bots are doing absolutely nothing but killing my will to play.
They enter again and again, 50% of the game I meet one in game.
How SAD...

Don't ignore our voice, no more...
For the king, for the land, for the martyrs,
STOP these bots.
Permanent Ban at least.

Look at the recent update, looks like our voice was heard. Let's see if this update really works now.

Not as far as I can tell. That certain person from a certain guild tag is still here.

The update notes said they added the functionality. It didn't say they put in a bunch of bans. Give it some time and we'll see I suppose.

Out of respect for the other guilds I will not post any tags of guilds that have been doing these sorts of things. However, many RA'ers know that there is one blatantly obvious bot guild around that is currently doing this.
It is needless to respect those who do not know respect themselves.

While I personally could care less about the RA bots ( Some of them sadly do play better then real players.... ) , you should post any guild known for botting for all to see on top of reporting it to anet.

The point is what happens when this becomes the norm and you have 2 or more team mates as bots?

Whats the point of playing an online game if your not actually playing with anybody?

I'll give, that guild wars is a FUN game but I think there are better single player games out there.

Some bots are better than real players doesn't mean bots should be allowed to continue to run, the people running the bots are doing the same thing as the bot runners farming gold

It has to stop or it'll increase and you'll only see bots get better designed, where's the fairplay or fun in that?

I see the same bots over and over, they have been reported time and time again, no action taken by A.net so far. I don't think these are trial accounts, seems to be the same names.
