Here's the elite known as Xinrae's Weapon:

It's found in only one location and you can't get into the area until you reach the final mission in Nightfall. Even more, it's one long trip to reach the boss that has it.
Would you say this is the most difficult elite skill to capture?

Feast of Corruption when it that gigantic worm north of Drok's (far southern end of Talus Chute, I believe) was the only boss to cap it from......when there were no heroes......

the RoT caps were the most annoying for me, all the tyrian ones just took forever with the random spawning but wern't particularly hard, i had a harder time getting TO maw than i did killing her.

Abaddon's Mouth has the worst elites to get ever because it's extremely extremely annoying if you have to spend 20 minutes or more trying to get Restore Conditions.
AS for FoC before Factions, that was good times. Spent 5 hours getting to the guy with a friend and henchies and I got like 5 rares.

Well, I don't know about you. But when I think a skill is difficult to cap, it'd be in term of the amount of time I might have to spend to get it.
Xinrae's weapon is there. Always there. If I can find a way to get there, I will get it.
Restore Condition (for example), MIGHT BE THERE. I might get it, I might not. And from my personal experience I spent 3 hours a day for 2 weeks to get the skill (to the point that I know the in-and-out of Abaddon's Mouth and got the bonus objective with just hench).
That's difficult (for me).

Well, to be specific, none of the elites are "difficult" to cap, just some take a lot longer and are much more annoying than others. That would be the RoF ones. That's really the only criteria I consider - annoyance. I wanna cap, dammit, not explore half of an entire zone mindlessly over and over till I hit the jackpot.

Jagged Bones was my least favorite elite. Its tied to a quest Breaking the Broken. But I have to agree any tyrian elite is annoying that has a random spawn

I hero and henched every elite skill on my warrior. Sometimes i would get slaughtered by huge aggro mobs then patrols would get involved....some caps were done with 60 death penalty..

xinrae hard???? not even close---the mobs you face to get to it are a push over with h/h team and he is ALWAYS there....
I have to agree the ring of fire elites are a pain....I remember doing it the first time--2 years + ago....couldnt get the dang bosses to spawn

Onslaught (dervish elite) in the nightfallen jahai that is quite difficult because of the numerous roaming mobs you MUST fight when fighting the boss mob because the roamings roam into the aggro of the para boss.
Maybe not the hardest, but I was trying to think of one others hadn't said.
as for the RoF elites, those 3 dryder spawns are quite the pain, the mesmer skill took me 15 runs to get it to spawn. those 15 runs were all in one day....yeah, I vowed never to play RoF on my ele again, unfortunately ill be headed down there to cap again with my monk...ugh

Well, ROF is anoying but usually you can get two elites per profession at once, which in the end saves some time.
Add exploration, mission bonuses and some opened chests on the way and its actually ok spent time. Multitasking, FTW.

Proph elites are definately annoying. I remember that when I was getting Offering of Blood, I decided that the quickest way to get it was to do that start of Thunderhead Keep until the Necro boss spawned. Seeing as I'll see 2 bosses in 5 mins, I figure it won't take too long. I end up wasting over an hour and took about 14 runs untill he spawned.

I had more "problems" (as in annoying) capping in shiverpeaks. I didn't find RoF annoying or hard at all, really. got lucky with spawns probably.
What about Offering of Spirit? Only one rit boss has that and he's in Realm of Torment too. Can't remember how hard it was to get to him though.

LOL - I recall as a Warrior primary needing 2 skills to complete Tyria - both in the same RoF mission. If you loaded a monk secondary you ran into the mesmer. If you loaded the mesmer secondary you would find the monk. Rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat, rinse repeat - arrrrrggghhhh!!!!!.
By comparison, Xinraae was - ok - where do I find boss - hahaha - found you, now you die.

Actually, the absolute most difficult caps for me are some that no one has mentioned yet. And I suppose these fall into the "annoying" category as well rather than "difficult".
I don't remember the name of the skills, but while trying for Legendary Skill Hunter I had 2 or 3 skills that could only be capped in the Garden of Seborhim explorable. However, my garden had fallen into nightfall and I couldn't reach the Garden of Seborhim. I had to either finish the game (I had barely reached Vabbi at the time) or find someone to run with that could reach the garden.
THAT WAS FRUSTRATING!!!!!

Golden Skull Strike, an assassin elite attack, was the most painfull to get to imo, before GW:EN came out. The map on wiki seems to be wrong, because the boss spawned a lot further north of that position, so you had to walk all the way around.
The RoF elites aren't hard, you just need to have a bit of luck, which I had I guess, never had any trouble getting the skill I wanted reasonably fast..

Xinrae's is pretty easy to get, the mobs on the way are small and dumb, so you can just kill and keep walking.
FoC was pretty easy to get too, but since I ran droks LOTS at the time, I just ran it backwards for guildies and such, took ~10 mins max to get it.

Prophecies elites are the hardest, because they randomly spawn. Might take several, SEVERAL attempts of doing the same thing over and over and over and over to get it. Wait... that sounds like PvE... nvm...
