stupid idea. it's been raised before and denied. why? cos it's a stupid idea. it completely goes against their own policy. if they started doing this, there would be uproar and the community would die.

If I'm going to earn something (whether in game or out), I'm going to EARN it. All this would do is destabalize the economy.

Of all the lame ideas I've seen, this one gets a cookie.

What a terrible dumb idea! To the extreme!

When I look for online games, and I see one potentially interesting, one of the first things I check is it's economy - if it's based on an online item store, selling ingame advantages, it's an insta-fail, Alt+F4 and I never look at that game again.

Now the saddest part is that GW is actually getting pretty close to that hated model - the online store in GW already sells certain advantages! Look:

>> in a game economy that's based only on items' looks, the best looking, high-resolution (much higher, just look at them closely or see gw.dat files for proof) weapons can't be found in game, but anyone can spend 10$ and get an *infinite supply* of those in the BMP!
The effect on the game economy is pretty major - if a person has it, he will NEVER go and for example "WTB a restoration wand" or "WTB gold insc. nice skin flatbow", he will only buy a very specific weapon skins if he really wants one, or just not buy at all - that's a big hit on the demand side of the market, hurting the sellability and value of all weapons except the extreme high-end ones.

>> Selling Unlocks - a lame player can just buy his UAX instead of speding his first ~2 million faction (or a lot of gold and skillpoints in pve) on learning the skills himself. Economy effect is obvious - if that player will gain that faction and spend it on Zaishen Keys instead - he essentially BOUGHT a MILLION gold worth of keys! (at 2.5k per key, standard wtb spam price)

Like how I worked my arse off to unlock all the skills for pvp and Anet does this. (pvp skill packs)

I don't understand what your point is here. If a player doesn't care about what their weapons look like, they wont buy in game weapons anyway, seeing as you can get max inscribable weapons from crafters/colllectors. Meanwhile, the only skins people who care about skins buy will be the high end ones regardless of what they already have. The weapons in the BMP are more of an added benefit to playing the extra missions, like the greens at the end of Factions, NF and EotN. I can't see how they are ruining the economy, if someone wants a Crystalline Sword or Voltaic Spear the BMP weapons simply won't do. But if someone just wants a resto wand or flatbow, they'll keep the first one they come across or will just have one crafted. They aren't going to go to the effort of buying some lame-ass skin that they don't care about...

NO is the only answer anyone can give. selling in game gold is just wrong. unless you are a lazy player. there are so many ways to make gold its easy. just kill something.I have played for 2 & 1/2 years & didnt get my first 100k until after playiny over a year. for many reasons. like helping guildies/armor ,runes weaposns & numorous other things. getting a fully stocked guild hall.my wife & I have had the same guild hall since we started. we have just recently reached the 1 mil. gold mark & are very proud of it because we did it WITHOUT buying gold.people just need to enjoy the game & get things as they can afford them.thanks anet for a great game...

Selling in game gold. Its wrong in so many ways. Yea the GW economy sucks at the moment, but oh well. Take a moment and look at real life, the WORLDS economy sucks at the moment, but you dont see the "federal reserve mint" printing up millions of dollars just to pull their country out of debt. Why not you ask? Because it would be wrong, just like buying in game gold is wrong. It would make a bad situation all that much worse. It would make the value of a dollar even more worthless then it already is. It would totally destroy the worlds economy. Wars would no longer be faught with the idea of the country with the better toys wins, it would be won by the country that could print up the most money fastest and get the most amount of toys and use them fastest wins. The value of ingame gold is already 1 step away from worthless, lets not make it even worse by even more people not earning what they have. thru out all time there have been the rich people, the middle class and the poor. The same goes for guild wars and it should stay that way. Im sorry if you dont have the time to spend hours farming and selling to make your millions, (I am one of those people that doesnt have all the time in the world to go out and make an overdose of money just like a lot of you). Just like terrible theresa, it took me over 2 years to make my first million, and i did it the old fashioned way. I worked for it, I saved, and I didnt buy every little thing I "thought" I couldnt live without. you dont HAVE to have the most expensive armor on the market to survive, you dont HAVE to have the "best" green out there, you have the ability to create any weapon out there, or make any weapon the way you want it. So you are misisng 1 mod or inscription for what you want, keep looking, it will come your way without dropping 15k on an inscription. The same goes for runes and insignias for armor. Patence is a virtue people, practice patence. Its bad enough that kids these days think everything they desire should be handed to them on a silver platter, have no concept as to where money comes from, or how little a dollar will actually buy. All they know is mom and dad leave home every day to a job they hate and come home tired and depressed because they HAVE to go do it all again tomarrow just to feed the greedy little brat crying because there arent any cookies left.
SO, lets all help teach these kids the "value" of a dollar. Even if it is just ingame gold. Lets help teach them the satisfaction of "working" for what they want. Then maybe, just maybe, 1 of these kids we run with in the game (many years from now) when they have kids of their own will remember the satisfaction of earning what they had on the game and maybe try to instill in the child the value of a dollar and the satisfaction of earning what they have or want.

This should definitely not be implemented. ANet will not be making many players happy if they did this. No other games have ever had this, and that was probably for a reason.

The OP already got a lot of beating from people so I will not add any injury anymore.

The idea is actually good for some players (like me probably because no matter how hard i try to farm, i still don't get so much. for the past 3 days, I only got 24k from farming and that includes the sale of necro elite tome for 10k).

The idea is also good (initial impression) for the developer because if they are going to sell cheap gold, then those companies who are selling gold will close down because they cannot compete with the developer in producing gold.

Yet, even if the idea of selling gold for real money is good (i'm saying it to avoid adding injury to OP), it will also come to a point where the gold buyers will be the one to suffer from that kind of transaction (rmt). Because if I am a hardcore farmer, I'm sure I'm going to sell my loot for an insane amount knowing that buyers are not working for their gold. For example, I am going to sell my black dye for 1,000k (with some exxageration ofc) because I know that a person who want to buy that did not work hard for his gold. (Well, i guess hard core farmers also win here).

LOL i think i have to stop my own nonsense.

DEVs can't and should not sell in-game gold for real money because it will make gold worthless.

But I want to be able to buy from NCSoft (or Anet or whoever is responsible) a custom-made PVE level 20 character with 15k Armor Set, Customized Weapon (and shield or offhand) like a Custom-Made Character in Pre-searing (not qualified for LDoA). It will make life easier and will give more fun for those who love the game so much but don't have the time to hunt for the most good things in the game.

At first glance I thought it was a good idea...But then I remembered that I'm broke D=>

Prices for things would skyrocket, and anyone that couldn't pay for gold wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell at getting high-end items without hours and hours of farming...

Bluefeather is right. If people start buying gold left right and centre, prices of dynamic/tradable entities will go up as people will have more money to burn they will burn it on whatever and damn the consequences.

Traders (players) will put prices up because easy gold means that now MORE people can afford much much higher prices, and in the end it will be the "rich" players in real life (ie those of us who earn a lot) who will be the only ones capable of buying "high end" stuff because we are the only ones with the real world dollars to spend on the stuff. Needless to say, it is a bad idea.

Yes, allow this. Working for everything is a pain, and some people like to play this game, but all they can get with the money is missions and skills or some crap. So...YEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
