Hey peeps some of you may have read some of my other threads and more than a few have be cancelled because apparently there a dupe thread :S
At any rate i have searched this and I do not believe that there is another thread asking this question if there is sorry in advance .
Right then simple question is
How do you feel towards you avatars and do you try to make them have some physical appearance to resemble you?
Guild wars avatars not guru :P
Are you like me of example who only creates 2 pve avatars and only play on them. Or do u randomly create new chars at a mere whim.
I also want to know how many ppl are actually a dude yet they play a girl char. (pvp dnt count not in my opinion anyway)
Or if there a girl and play a dude char. (dudes on gal chars freak me out)
Also have you ever created a char that generally looks like you. I know at least one person which created a good look a like.
It was just a conversation that I had with a guildie last night and i decided to share it with guru.
What are your opinions on it? plz do post your opinions

2) I have 9 characters in PvE. They are not chosen by a whim, they are chosen by preference of what professions I like to play.
3) I am a guy who has 4 guy characters and 5 lady characters. I am an equal opportunist, and as such, I do not think I should be sexist and stay only with guy characters.
4) This is a fantasy game, and as such, my female Necro who looks like a vampire looks cool. My male Ritualist looks kinda plain, but his armor is very cool. I see nothing wrong with players playing professions or looking different (even gender) than they do in real life. I think the point is to escape the horrors of real life and temporarily enjoy a closer knit fake world.

bunch of characters male ane female. Dosen't matter play what you want.
O My main character my male ele. Is red head and pasty white skin. that's is me. O and GW doesn't allow portly/chubby characters so I made him tall and thin.

11 PvE characters, 3 Pvp-Made Mules, and 2 PvP slots (16 in total).
I have 15 female characters and 1 male (only have him b/c he's reeeeally old [almost 24 months. Lol... He used to have full FoW, but, I salvaged it ]). I created all females because I am only ever by myself, with heroes and hench, so, I like to see smexxy lookin' chicks.

I have all guy toons, for one simple reason. My second toon ever was was a girl and I kept getting hit on, which made me feel wierd, so I deleted it and never turned back.
Bowstring Badass
Mainly female characters because well male casters look kinda gay. Male warriors are ftw.
Shadow Kurd
Female cause i didn't want a man in a skirt(I am a if you didn't know by know)
kvndoom
Definitely none of my toons resemble me... GW doesn't allow you to make anything that ugly. :-\
All mine are female. Guess I'm all about the femme fatale. Guess it's cool that you can create a thing of beauty and send it forth to kill the living shit out of something/body.

I have 2 characters that look like me - my ele and my ranger... here's a quick comparison shot just tp prove how much my ranger IS me...
My ele looks less like me IMHO, but still x]. My other chars look nothing like me, and I don't mind really. My assassin is a short brunette; my dervish is a drow; my paragon is a cute Black guy; my main warrior is a silver-haired, tanned girl...
In general I make my characters male, well I'm gay and like most guys I like to stare at something I actually like, and who the hell's gonna hit on the drow dervish and the male monk? x] (so I don't get to deal with the kids who go "WILL U BE MAI GF PLZZZ????"). My warrior is female 'cause I didn't like male armors when I made one, so I made a second male warrior... which I never play (can't be bothered, he's lv8) and I made a second monk, female, out of boredom (she's a lv15 mule now).
In total, 14 PvE chars: 2 females, 12 males.

None of my chars look like me. Specially because 5 of them are female (out of about 14 chars PvE) but I can't do anyway.
And when someone says "want 2 b my gf?" I just lol at them for failing at life.

Valcion
I have 3 PvE male(no gender swaps for me) character which is my Assassin (main), monk (farmer to support main), and warrior (made so I can play through the games chronologically starting from pre-searing).
I try to model my characters so they look "normal" (as in, no crazy hair styles or overly huge of small stature), and I tend to pick armor that look logical (which is why I will forever stay away from Derv and Para, because guys don't wear skirts >_________________>).
This also comes in conflict with assassin armors because I simply can't imagine how the assassin can't stab himself while doing anything (such as dancing) with some of these armors that have huge ass spikes everywhere (yes NF sin and imperial armors, I'm looking at YOU).

I don't really go out of my way to make characters that look like me. Probably the only exception is that I always choose blond hair becuase that's my own color and stylistic preference.
I have two male characters and four female. I choose them because;
1) My Ele was my first ever MMO avatar so I went with what I am, and since then I've had no reason to delete him.
2) I think a Warrior should be a big strapping lad.
3) A man should never wear a skirt (Dervish).
4) Male Rangers look like hippies.
5) I don't like armor with 'chest feature stylization' like the batman outfits (Paragon).
6) Male Monks are fat.
Basically, when I make a new character I probably spend a week or more just flipping through all the combinations; man or woman, blond or auburn, this hair style or that hair style, and then I go with what I think looks best.

My characters tend to have dark hair and be female, like me. I've never thought of creating a male character to play. Probably because I play GW with my boyfriend, so playing as a male character would feel weird since all his characters are male. :P
Red Sand
My warrior looks like me: big, bald and mean.
My necro looks like my wife: Hot!

I Make characters that look cool and do not resemble me at all and if they do that only a coincidence. I try to make 1 of each profession having 2 in each continent 2 in Tyria 2 in northern tyria 2 in cantha and 2 in elona, my female characters are my monk and ritualist and the rest are male out of 8. the female are for variation
1. I find it wierd that u find the animated people to be "hot" or "sexy" I dont know about you but I tend to like real live women.
2. I really also find it wierd to hit on people in Guild Wars, so i feel sorry for who ever has been
I have found a femal char that looks exact same as my male one

I can't even come close to making my GW avatars look anything like me. The sheer beauty that is me would surely blind all others in the game if I were able to duplicate myself in my avatar so I think it's probably best not to even try.

there was a thread about this in the screenshot forum...got moved around abit---
however; with 29 characters a few of which are male (and I=female), there just arent any ughly enough female characters to even come close to me---and the few faces that could dont have hair styles anything like mine (actually the female dervishes come the closest on the hair---just not long enough---I can sit on mine).
so I would have to say mostly no---though my first character does have china white skin like mine, that is where the similarity ends.

All my characters are females, simply because I can't roleplay a male =p

I have 10 characters...and not a one of them looks a thing like me. Until I see a character with freckles across their noses and cheeks, I'm out of luck. All of my characters are female though, so at least that is accurate.

I make my characters have one of my traits, usually (but not always). Necros and rits get tattooed up; my necro has purple hair (I had blue hair once...).
I play a mix of male and female characters, although I'm a man. My 6-year old daughter really enjoys creating characters for me to play.

a lame idea...

My warrior looks most like me, the rest is choosen by what I liked best at the time. I play male and female characters just for variation. I tried to make my dervish look like Jayne Cobb from the Firefly series though, as a tribute to both Jayne and the Firefly series.

Most of my GW characters are attractive females, with a couple evil or scary looking males thrown in the mix.
My avatar is a pic of a bunny with a pancake on his head, if you don't know why I'm not going to explain.

I have 4 long standing chars and the rest I fool around with on and off. The 4 I don't mess with is purely because of their age. I'm kind of attached to them. 3 are coming up to their 3rd birthday including my old Ranger main and my current Assassin main is coming up to her 2nd birthday.
All my chars bar 1 (created by my brother) are female because I think they look better than the male chars and, like someone said earlier, I like the idea of a slight, demure lady ruining the big warriors day. In real life I'm a guy. Controversial maybe?
Specifically, I try to make them as pretty as possible. I'm a sucker for the faces that have pale, piercing eyes. I generally create white avatars, probably because I am.
This topic would make for a great psychology case study

My monk sort of looks like me - pale, brown hair, greenish eyes, as tall as a monk can get. However, I have hair on both sides of my head. I like all my characters to look different, so none of the others look anything like me.
All my characters are female, for three reasons. First, I've had male chars and always felt kind of wierd playing them. Second, female characters are generally prettier; it seems to me that the GW designers put a lot more loving attention into the female character models than the male ones (big surprise). Third, female characters have a shorter minimum height - I'm not sure if I buy into the idea that small avatars are measurably harder to target, but it can't hurt, so I make my PvP characters itty-bitty.
Oh, and I did have a whole slew of PvE characters, but I found trying to play and equip all of them exhausting, so now I'm down to 3: my monk who's done everything I care to do, my SY paragon I'm rushing through the game so she'll be available to help guildies with Hard Mode, and my warrior who I only play with my husband. All the rest get repeatedly reborn as PvP characters.

I made myself look like my main PvE toon.
Or...
I made made my characters by finding a combination of hair, skin, face, color that was appeasing to me and maybe a little unique (e.g. Rangers that look like Gaile Gray's Ranger).
I wouldn't be able to play a character for nearly three years if I just randomized everything.

Aera Lure
My characters do not look like me, because A) then they'd all look similar and B) GW does not have a robust enough character creation system.

My avatar (the char on the right) is a self-portrait. This is what happens when there isn't enough coffee in me.

I tried to get my first character to look like me (a Prophecies ele). It didn't work too well considering the fact that I was Asian. I gave up after that and just made whatever looked the best. I have three female characters, but they tend to get less attention than the males, maybe because of their professions (one warrior that is now a mule, one sin, and one necro that is trying to level in Gunnar's Hold). I used to play my female characters occassionally, but it felt sort of weird interacting with everyone else. I got very bored of the sin and warrior and I haven't taken the time to level my necro.
