Hi,

I would really like a, " Festival Hat Seller ",
There are hats i miss, and i would love to have.

I think it would be fine. After all they are just hats.

Maybe have the hat seller require certian unique crafting material for each hat to be made.

I have missed some weekend events because after all weekends can have plans other than guild wars :\ Go Go week long events

Though for those spoil sports that don't want others to share in the fun, they could make it so this guy crafts noticeably-different-but-still-about-the-same hats as past festivals.

I dont know what to say.

On one hand, it would be a nice idea for those who cannot get hats from other years. But, on the other hand, each hat is unique, and adding a NPC would kill the ``In the right place at the right moment´´ formula of the Festival Hats.

/halfsigned. If you pay the Hat Seller like 10k per Hat.

That's pretty much the logic.

If you can't stay for the event, you're probably doing something more important anyways. The only event I'd consider this void for was the Day of the Tengu that was exclusive to early access accounts to Factions, and even then it wouldn't be fair to make that mask available again (unless otherwise worked into the lore).

I missed the first year of events, Did not know about the events at all. I just saw pumpkin masks but no one was talking about it as this huge secret.

I'd like to be able to get the original masks to add to my collection, I have not missed a single event yet since i learned about them.
Infact, its one of the things that keeps me coming back to gw. I love the events.

BTW: I've missed a few events because I was actually spending time with family/friends. So, I'm not trying to be an elite prick about it.

I really don't see why not, I mean, if the Festival Hats were worth like, say a Runescape Mask (and I can't even believe I'm making that kind of reference), then I could see a problem, but it's really a 'just for fun' kind of thing. It's really nothing to flaunt.

I don't see a problem, even though I have every festival hat unlocked.

Hats, unlike headgear, must be EARNED. By being there, by gathering stuff... whatever the way it is, but not just by paying for it.

Add other ways to earn them...? Maybe. Allow to sell them just for gold and/or materials? Never.

QFT

Video games shouldn't be work, where you have to "earn" stuff with blood, sweat and tears. It's just for entertainment. It's not like the hats give you a damage/defense bonus or anything.

Seriously, someone give a reasonable answer as to why NOT to implement this.

You didnt have to 'work' or 'earn' the hats. You just had to be at the event. It's a reward for loyalty to the game and community participation. Having this would be similar to having a Birthday Present Trader.

I was at most of the events. I even stayed on line for the last halloween ones. One prob. I didnt get to switch districts and get the other one. I just have scarecrow. I stayed logged on but had to take my daughter to the ER. Now maybe I am being a whiney brat but I did log the time, just was unable to get the gear.

The only one I dont see fair (even if I do want one) is the tengu mask. All others should be available.

You're right its a freaking hat. Nothing more. No one needs them. They are a souvenir to commemorate an event. Not at the event? Then why should you commemorate it?

No never, and this will never happen. Ya i missed the halloween event in nightfall when they gave out the witch hats or whatever, and i dont have the tengu hats, but oh well. The hats are only for the people who where there for the festival. Also, I don't really want to see a bunch of noobs who have been playing for only a few months to be running around in the old school pumpkin hat which I got on the first halloween event. The older hats show who has been playing longer and they're more unique. If you put in a hat seller, then those old hats aren't unique the veteran players anymore. If you missed a hat that you wanted, too bad, don't care, deal with it, it's just a hat.

Also @Kanyatta

There have only been two hats that you had to collect stuff for and both of them had quests offering the items needed. Not exactly things to be earned with "blood, sweat and tears".

I would only support the Tengu Mask's return of all of the masks that are currently out there. Even then, I wouldn't like it be brought in except by some means through lore, like a second festival where the Tengu would be celebrated. And even then, a new mask may still be the right way to go.

I missed the first Halloween mask because I was at my grandma's calling hours. Tough luck. I don't need the mask, because I have tons of others to choose from, and it's not like I'm set back anything either.

If you didn't get it, you either failed at being able to put yourself where you needed to be to get it, which is your fault, or you were pre-occupied with a more important real-life task, which should obviously have had enough value to you that you wouldn't have to come back and make an excuse to get the mask.

Stop being a "whiney brat", it's a freaking hat.

QFT, I'm all for getting Festival Masks a proper armor level and equipping status as all other helmets in some reasonable fashion that the system isn't exploited for lower levels getting high armor.

Like the Lion hat?

A reward to others should NEVER be a punishment for those that:
- Did not have internet connection and never knew about the game.
- Were too young to buy the game and parents refuse to buy for them.
- Were in comma and could not play, althought they bought all the games.
And things like that.

A game that allows permanent regrets it's a bad game. GW eliminated most of the 'regrets' like with the attribute buy points.

Regrets like:
"I wish I was 18 2 years ago"
"I wish I had internet connection"
"I wish I knew about the game before"
Should never be allowed in a game.

If it's not the players' fault, then you cannot punish them.

Never, ever going to happen. Galie herself posted on Guru and said no to a thread basically identical to this (been suggested before, use search). Flat out rejection of ideas is rare by a.net, and when a.net does that on a forum, they mean it.

I missed the first wintersday hats. Would I like them? Yes. Do I think I deserve them? No. I wasn't there, I shouldn't get them. Simple as that.

Think of it this way the hat is a gift to say you where there when the event took place.
Everything else in the game can be aquired in other ways usually by money.

So don't just say you want it to happen because it's just a hat there are only 2 reasons why anyone would want this to happen.

1 so you can pretend to everyone that you where there, but wait a minute once we all know you can buy them the idea is pointless.

2 because you are jealous of those who can wear the hat and show off at events and want to ruin it for them.

I see no reason why there should not be a hat seller in the game or any other clothing for that matter, just not copies of festival hats.

How is it a punishment?

"I wish I knew about the game before" <---omg

So if someone starts playing the game tomorrow they should get 1st year and 2nd year birthday presents as soon as they create a character? Because they wish they knew about the game 2 years ago. Might aswell throw them a stack of ectos so they can catch up nicely aswell as we wouldnt want to 'punish' them.

If you don't attend the event you shouldnt get the reward. simple. At the ER?...TOUGH, at a funeral?...TOUGH, at your own funeral?...TOUGH, Getting married?...TOUGH, Computer broke?...TOUGH

The point he was trying to make is that, out of all the things in GW, the one thing you can't get are hats. You can buy the minis, or wait for your birthday. You can farm or buy a stack of ectos. You cannot go back and get past hats.

And, considering hats are meant to be a completely frivolous and fun object as opposed to some sort of uber loot, it seems fair that everyone should have access to them. From what I've seen, the people who would get them now would spread more cheer and get more enjoyment out of them then those that are arguing against this idea.

I have yet to see a good reason why they cannot be available to all. Claiming "miss the event, miss the hat" is simply a reworded version of the basic opinion these people have, which, to be more accurate is, "I have a hat and they don't; I want to keep it that way and hate the idea of them having this, because it makes me less superior to them and reduces my e-peen."
