Likewise, a civil conversation is uncommon on guru. And I wholeheartedly agree with you that the advantage of online games is the dynamic nature, in which events can be celebrated and new content introduced. Of course I respect your view on this, but I do believe that events like this will be swept under the carpet, so to speak, and probably won't influence many NEW players purchase.

Either way I too hope for a resolution.

Something else that was prettty strange was that the Party Time buff has a time-bar underneath it, but it completely disappeared when the frog left. So you didn't get a little extra time to consume all your items for double points after the frog left. Which forced me to attend every finale I could, because I really can't click that fast :P
I know net wanted the fireworks to go up when Froggy was at the scene, but come on.... a measly 3 minutes to click away 500+ items or more? Sheesh.. I nearly broke my finger AND my mouse :P

I sure hope party items will drop back to the usual 100g per point now.

Ummm i was hoping to get a good days farming in when i woke up this morning only to find that i could no longer use the festival items as advertised.
Thinking about whether they will extend the event when they finally get into the office in 5 hours time won't really help me much as it will be night time here and being a mother of two it really isn't possible for me to stay up all night farming festival items.
Im quite dissapointed as i used all of the weekend to build up some stacks and now am unable to use them.
Hope anet will take this into account when and if they extend the event.

LOL I know what you mean. Fortunately I got to consume all my regular items. But I still have I think 177 tonics and I had to keep switching districts to use then repeatedly. I'm tempted to just use them and get two points out of each one but I dunno, maybe we'll find out this is all a mistake on Anet's part and they'll give us another day or two?

As for the pattern I'm seeing, the celestial pig, then saying there will be no double party points, then there is, then it ends early. I'm not saying it's deliberate. I'm sure the celestial pig thing was created shortly before it was introduced. And I'm not saying GW2 is gonna fail and that Anet are a bunch of turd eaters. But I still see a pattern and I'm not sure if it's safe to say it indicates a continuation of this or not. I mean I'm trying to figure out if I'm being negative in my thinking or if this pattern could indicate things to come. I try to observe my own thoughts so I don't end up posting quick one liner Anet bashings on here.

Yes i am annoyed with this thing, generally most things (like celestial pig) require you to have money. The average GW player will never have a full hall of monuments of minipets, destroyer weapons and the rest, because alot of them (not all) require you to have money. Drunkard title for example, if you want to max out the title, requires you to spend ALOT of money to get it, and how many people can afford to get a large amount of the minipets? Same can be said for many other things within the GW world.

Im never going to be a great GW player, or have a million gold and 5 stacks of ecto's, or have 25 max titles Im never going to win hall of heros or be part of winning pvp elite team, many of the titles like Cartographer's, Skill hunters or widsom i will never max out - im just not that good because i dont have the time to spend.

I enjoy playing Guild Wars But i saw a chance to get a maxed title this weekend, i thought if i do ALOT of farming, work real hard and spend large amount of my gold i could achieve "Life of the Party"- one of a few maxed titles i would ever get. I go to attend the event and i find nothing. Event over. Yes i know there will be other chances, but this was my chance to get something i really wanted. Im not that angry but more disappointed that there has been a complete miscommunication from A-net about this "event". There some dispute about it started early therefore it ended early, but thats not what was advised and even so there was two frog visits skipped.

There many themes in this thread, some A-net might want to consider and some which are pointless. GW2 is on its way and "problems" like this could hamper its image when there are so many other on line games out there. And what happens if A-net decide to extend the event for the 12 owed to us, well for many of us it most likely be during the night and i will still miss it. I know you can never please everyone, and when A-net do something or change something they will always upset someone, it cant be helped. I dont know what happened, we can only speculate but im sure A-net have a fair idea whats gone on. And im sure there job is not an easy one, but please can you (A-Net) try and stop disappointing me like this?

You should be happy that there was an event, You should be happy you got free fireworks, you should be happy you have access to the internet.

Cheers Anet was a good event, I can agree in saying shame it had to end maybe next time someone leaves we'll get a week of partying and WTS spammers.

People, don't be silly. When customer decides to buy GW2 he would see good looking free-wow, and couldn't care less about some fireworks screwup years ago. Those things simply do not compare, even if they add up. If they really mattered, no-one would be playing GW1 anymore.

Hell, they would not even know. Its not like reviews for GW2 will be written by bitter ex-GW1 players.

Only thing bad about this event was how embarrassing was the fact that no-one really knew or cared what was going on. Except for free title fodder stuff, everyone cared about THAT.

Event ended prematurely due to excessive Raptor farming. The massive slaughter of Raptor Nestlings endangered the species which lead the authorities to put it on the "endangered list" and declare a No Hunting Season.

On a different note "lighten up" it's only a game...

Yeah, things like this don't hurt much if you got your share of the pie I guess. I wouldn't be bothered either if I got some fireworks, but unfortunately I didn't get to play until 5 minutes before they ended it prematurely. (Which remains a huge %$^#-up whichever way anyone wants to turn it.)

Which is why I keep saying here on GWG: very few people care about video games to the extent that the majority of this board's more active members do. For all the hand-wringing and gum-flapping that goes on here, the fact is that most of the people flapping and wringing are just addicts and don't come remotely close to the typical representation of a GW player.

Simple fact: most people don't take their video games seriously enough to care whether a "community liaison" exists, much less who that person is.

As a note, I participated @ every frog appearance i could, formed the conga, even spent good hours trying to get into a dist to see Gaile in-game ONCE, and say "ty for everything and good luck on the new job. Come visit from time to time". So there was at least ONE caring for what was going on, not only title

It sucks, but I give myself the time I walk to the fridge and grab my food to not care about it anymore. Until my friends log on and ask why the event stopped earlier than what was said >_<.

EDIT: Talked in-game with some friends, apparently it was a bug that made the event start early? We should so report ANet x].

Entitlement complex my behind. It's completely reasonable to expect a company I paid money to to abide by the rules they posted themselves. The announcement is still up for crying out loud.

Except you didn't buy this event, you bought Guild Wars, and this was never advertised as part of the package; it was just a nice, extra thing they added on top for free that they didn't have to.

You're not going to get any sympathy for three simple reasons:

1. It was an EXTRA free event they did without asking anything of you.
2. You had 60 hours to participate in that extra, free event (and before you mention why you didn't: nobody cares. It's not ANET's fault if you had other obligations) and didn't start until the last 12
3. Mistakes happen, and this is a very minor mistake on their part.

Let's compare some examples of errors here:

1. The rollback of the database: BIG boo-boo, impacted the fundamental product you paid for. Worth whining about.

2. Special free event ended 12 hours early. Didn't impact anything important. Not worth whining about.

And in spite of all that, it's still not unreasonable to expect ANet to live up to their announcements.

I wouldn't look at event announcements as rules, but I would see them as a commitment they should adhere to. And game or not, a mess up is a mess up. Video games are meant to be fun and hey, this literally killed the fun for now for a LOT of gamers in GW.

your literal idea of fun is to farm/grind/buy fireworks for hours and then press your left mouse button as fast as possible to gain a title that does absoutely nothing in game context?

People will have fun in their own ways. Why do you feel the need to put people down for what they like to do? Some people like to see numbers increase on their titles window. So what?

Someone on this forum a while back even got on my case for using my kurzick faction to get amber or Urgoz scrolls to sell to the trader for even more money, instead of getting double points on the title track. Because he couldn't imagine himself doing it, he attacked me for it.

As for my part, most of the items I used were items I already had from past events. Stacks of snowman summoners, a stack of ghost boxes, and some fireworks items. I actually didn't grind because the ones I know real well, gargoyle skulls, termite legs, and sentient roots, weren't being used this time. I did some hfff for some more money to buy from others, that's about it. Not that I answer to you or anything.

Just chill out for a bit, take a break from farming. Once ANET employees are at work they'll take care of the problem. Do like i did..Sleep..recharge..then farm/buy/click away once its fixed.

I think someone messed with GW server system clocks.

Well... maybe next weeked we get it again for Andrew, to make up for the messed event, XD.
