I do miss developer response, but not necessarily "Gaile spin." Of course, I'm betting they are one in the same. So, meh.

I really do miss the involvement she had in the community, however I think it would be prudent to give Regina a few months to settle into the job before we start making any real comparisons. After all, Gaile, as we knew her most recently, had years to settle into her position and get into the grove of things.

Meh she didn't do anything for me, never spoke to her and i couldn't care for her to be honest. The only thing she ever did that i noticed was her farewell event which was somewhat redundant since she still works at Anet. She didn't really do much for the community in my opinon, except lag it to hell during her event!

yeah, i kinda miss gaile, yes she was vague, but what do you expect her to do? her position wasn't a place where she could just blab about every surprise and answer every question completely and truthfully without ruining surprises or creating rumors, which happen anyway.

What i remember most about Gaile, is Gaile denying the existence of the mini polar bear during Wintersday. Nice to know the community manager knows what is going on. Lets hope once Regina gets settled in, that Regina will have half a clue what is going on and be some use to us all.

I miss Gailes feedback, even if it was vague feedback. As was said, it wasn't her position to tell us everything that happened in dev meetings - more to hint at possible things upcoming.
I'd def take some feedback over no feedback too, but Regina has a lot of bedding down into the position and I am sure will become a more active participant as time goes on. It just happens it is a fairly quiet time in GW atm...

I'm happy she is "promoted" to better position. I consider it a promotion since, she doesnt have to come here and read all the crappy things said about her anymore. who can stand a job where you are critisized everyday by hundreds of people who has never met her in real life and who don't even know if she likes to eat pizza or if she's stay in the office worrying if she's done a good job as a community manager.

No. Gaile was a terrible CR representative. She was full of mis-information and tried to be our buddy too much. If she'd just done her job and didn't play the 'don't insult me or I'll have a cry' card she might have been more effective. Frankly the only times she was on the forum is if someone had said something against her personally. She's an obvious circular talker, and although Regina is not around so much from what i've seen at least she doesn't try to be our friend too much and posts when it's needed, not when she needs to suck up.

People don't seem to understand that her information came from what the devs gave her. So when she was told something and then later it didn't happen, for whatever reason, it was Gaile that got blamed by plenty of people here. "You said this would happen....blah blah blah."
People begged for answers and then resorted to insults and accusations when things didn't pan out. Thats what happens when you want answers before things are set in stone, you get disappointed.
But hey, Gaile was always nice to me, and I've always understood that its not her fault when things don't happen exactly as she said. At the time she said things they were generally true, just because later down the road it ended up not happening doesn't mean it was never looked into, or at time wasn't really being considered. Hind sight causes nothing but grief in my opinion.

The best CM's manage to be both informative and friendly, but they're a rare breed. The only one I can think of that fits the bill is Scapes over at Hellgate: London.

I agree completely. Not everyone can keep their friendliness in the face of heated/rude remarks from some members of the community. And I think people complaining about her vagueness just don't have a firm grip on the reality of a PR person for a company developing a product (even though Gaile would repeatedly describe that reality amidst whines about vagueness). I would concede however that the misinformation with the polar bear mini wasn't her best moment, lol, to put it mildly.
What I miss most from Gaile is her verbal flair. Her posts often were of a quality that made them pleasant to read due to her background in writing. Her general playfulness was nice too.
That said, I appreciate Regina. Probably her no-nonsense approach is what is needed right now... a firmer hand for what seems like an increasingly unruly community.

i miss her a bit, she brought somting differant to the game, just a friendly person, weather the information was useful or not it was jsut a friendly staff memeber that came to talk that i liked, even if it was her job.
