When GW2 beta is released how many of you will play it? How many of you will play throughout the whole thing? how many will wait untill it hits markets. Would you play throughout the whole beta knowing your account is going to get reset.. i just don't see the reason in doing so knowing that... opinions?

It would be nice to know what it'll be. Keeping me, and nearly all of the community, in the dark about 95% of everything about it gradually decreased my desire to want to get it in the future.

My number one thought is: Missions (Thunderhead Keep style) or dungeons (Shards of Orr style)?

Let's get real here. When the beta is announced, anyone who can get in will play. I can't picture anyone saying " No Thanks" to an invite.

And I was so excited that this was actually a news thread.

I hope the Betas work exactlyish how the first games did. But then again I am not ANet and I don't know the best solution.

the main reason for playing in a beta is so that we can test everything and try to find what exploits/bugs etc that we can so that they can be fixed prior to release. And the second reason is that skill usage is apparently going to be rather different to the current system so the beta gives a chance to gain some familiarity with the new system before the release.

And we don't even know if the beta is going to be an Open beta, it could be closed which means we would have to be lucky enough to get access first.

why would this be locked? anyways i understand playing to get familiar.. but how many of you, once familiarized with the gameplay.. will continue to try to beat all that is given in the beta.. i rather get familiar and leave the rest to when the game is released so its more new and exciting.

Erm, who wouldn't be playing the beta? Why would you continue to play this game if you didn't want to see what your Guild Wars future is in a year or so.

anyhow..

i would play it if i could get an invite in a heartbeat. i also agree with one of the first post saying how uninspired it makes people by keeping us THIS in the dark about everything. idk.. its not like Starcraft or GTA, where the engine is near flawless and its doing extremely well or anything, so the whole 'secret' thing is becoming more and more of a turn off.

I don't think I'd be terribly interested in beta. I mean... Sure, if I'm fortunate enough I'd gladly join. But it's hard to get excited about something when you don't know much of the facts. On top of that I'm not going to bother if all of my crap just gets reset/deleted anyway.

you loathesome OP, with your misleading thread title... I will get you for this, one way or another. Mark my words... you will pay.

But anywho, back on topic.

If the beta is closed invite, I will do my best to get an invite. If it is open beta, I will most certainly play. Cheers.

If they asked me to play, I'd tell them "Thank you, but no thank you!"

Betas are work, especially for something as big as a major revision/reissue of a multimillion dollar game, not just some piddly expansion. It's not an advanced look at the new game, it's like Darkstar said in his first sentence, a chance to test out the game and fix it before the general release.

I hope they make it closed and only let interactive, community oriented, well spoken players into it. And while I have time to kill posting on the Guru part time, I don't have time to make GW2 a second job.

I'll play it if I have the slightest opportunity to play it.

If the beta was of the entire game, I would be sorely tempted to play through it. Though, honestly, I think I would wait to play it until it was fully out. And from looking at the BWE entries, they only hold the beta in one small portion of the world at a time anyway.

i really do hope that its open beta, if not i will try to get an invite but not too hard, im not that intrested. besides ill just buy the game when it comes out so i dont have to longe?(you know to wish for) for all the good things in beta that might get changed.

Alphas are work, betas, not so much. Yeah, there'll still be bugs and client crashes and all sorts of issues popping up. But it'll be stable enough that a beta tester can get a good enough feel of the game and whether or not to buy it when released. Besides, beta testing is free.

As for things not making it out of the betas, they get removed for valid reasons. And even if you don't experience them first hand, you'll be told enough about them from beta testers that you'll wish you were there.

My guess is that anyone with an account will get a good shot at beta. Expect the sale of GW1 to skyrocket, when the promos start.

It is so long away, so little is known about it, so many other games will come out between now and then, I can not say for sure, but I will probably give it a try.

I imagine Anet can only do better than they did with GW1 which is not a bad game even though at this stage in its life it has some serious problems. Either way for $50 and no monthly charges I will buy it and give it a shot. Will I play it a long time? That depends on if it sucks or not.
