GW2 Beta poll
Longasc
I would test the game, not play it like it is a pre-release. Maybe this attitude is enough to disqualify me for a beta key. :>

Beta covers a whole range of things, which beta do you mean?
Beta, as in beta which tries to finds bugs in the world and the gameplay?
Beta, as in promotional event that is advertisement?
Beta, as in "we add perceived value to an otherwise utterly redundant thing", such as betas on subscription based services.
Beta, as in reassurance to investors that the product is real and more money can be raised?
Beta, as in chance for people to spoil all of the storyline?
I am sure we all want to see the beta that tells us everything about the game mechanics. What I rather not see is the story, what the fans do not need is the promotion beta. That's something for those not playing atm.

I',m pretty sure everybody is going to want to play the GW2 beta, however the chances are most people want to play it for the wrong reasons ie to play it and spread information about it. The point of betas is to test the game - to try to break it and find bugs to improve it. Betas are not your own private sneak peak into the game, nor are they designed to release vast amounts of info into the community. I would not be suprised at all if betas have already started, but its being kept secret still until the game is more developed.
Worst thing you can get in a beta test are the complete idiots who somehow manage to get into it and have a chance at improving the game, but then don't realise that it is a beta, treat it like their own private game and start complaining that the game still sucks. That is probably why there is no beta yet.
P.S 4thvariety if it is a preview event, it will be advertised as such not a beta, there is a difference.

I'm going to play it..to death!
Nessar
I'll prolly sight-see more then play...test out the new features and mechs. But I'll play it until my fingers bleed >
Age
I imagine it will be open to those who already hold GW account.

I'll play GW2 in beta if given the chance. To me Beta's are to discover bugs and make suggestions. I hope A-net offers it to the oldest members first, since I've been playing for over 3 years.

I'm not sure on this, on one hand, after all this time I want to see how the game turns out to be, and what has become of Tyria. Finally satisfy the thirst for GW2, and also to know if it's worth spending 50€ on it.
On the other, I only want to experience GW2 on it's fully polished and bug free (so to speak) version. I'd hate that some bugs would ruin the game early on for me, and also would hate to have my account wiped again ruining the experience for me. I want the first one to be the big one.
What I'll probably is end up doing is reading all the reviews, watching every screenshots and videos and assess the game by them, and then buy it in it's time. Have some prety high expectations for it, I hope it'll live up.

I don't think that at all. That's exactly why you SHOULD get a key! I feel the same. I mean, I love GW and the BETA would be a wonderful oppurtunity not only to see its development into the game it will be, but also to have your say in how you feel the game direction could improve.

Yup, i'll defenitly play the beta even if there are major bugs or anything that most of guru posters here will whine about.
Also, when it comes up, i wonder how many scrubs will say: ZOMG THAT GAME SUX!!1!!1!1!!! FUK U ANET!!1!1!

2)I dont think gw2 will be all that bad, it can, if done well, a revoluntary game, it's all up to how good the Anet staffers are. They got a solid fundation, now they gotta show their stuff of if they can or can't build a decent building.
I would try the beta, but it all depends how busy im w/ my school work.
Red Sonya
Well that just shows how narrow minded you are cause not everyone jumps on an invite to something free. Some of us believe in waiting for the final product than putting our valueable (people with lives) times into some silly beta applications.
Aba
Ya im so not gonna play something free because, I have a life too
Anyway has the beta even been mentioned by any anet staff?

I think ANet should get over the speedhump of actually making a game to put into Alpha before they start thinking about a Beta.

Mark my words:
Must buy 30$ worth of stuff in the GW1 online store to get a free GW2 beta invite.
Anyway - I am currently more intrigued by D3 so if the option will be between playing D3 or GW2 beta ... I know what I'll be doing when I won't be wasting time with real life.

Probably will try the open beta, but would 100% play closed one :P

1) I'm in europe, so I wont be eligible to get in the beta.
2) What I've heard about GW2 so far makes me think I'm not going to buy it at all. Many of the things I liked most about GW (the instancing, the heroes & hench, and, initially, the lack of grind) seems to be missing in GW2.
I may eventually buy it, but I'll wait until I've seen some reviews and heard the opinions of players.

If Diablo 3 or Starcrafts or any other GOOD beta is before GW 2's, and it probably will be, I'm not going to accept the invitation to the beta.
Super Igor
Wait what? Theres an open gw2 beta? O__o

And i share your opinion, i'm worried of how it'll turn out to be, beeing able to solo sucks in my opinion, the team dynamic is one of the things that i love about GW. And having open worlds, even tough i like it, opens doors for other problems, like spawn camping for example. Not to mention i won't be able to play the game peacefully... But we'll see how this turns out to be.
Numa Pompilius
Oh, it may be possible for europeans to get in the open beta, it seems to be more common to let europeans play in open betas nowadays, which makes sense as open betas are just PR campaigns anyway, but the closed beta is guaranteed to be US only.
kupp
Oh thanks, i was talking about the open beta really. I probably won't bother trying it out there tough, but it's always nice to have the option. :P
Fitz Rinley
I have too much to do in GW1 to beta GW2. Given my experiences in GW1 to date I develop lower and lower expectations for NC West daily. It would not take much at this point for them to surpass my estimation of what they will do, nor would meeting that threshhold at this point provide me any incentive to consider buying or recommending their new games to anyone. I have too much invested in GW1 at this point not to continue using it.
Sparda
I know for a fact that i turn down the offer if i had the option to be in the GW2 Beta.
Last beta's i have been in there where to many people who do not give a damn and just want to in the beta to say they where there (Vorzockers).
And i share the same opinion about GW2 as Numa Pompilius Point2

I would gladly play through the entire beta even if my whole account was going to get deleted. By all accounts, it sounds like it will be a step above the WoW game engine and if it lives up to all the hype, being part of the beta would be a great experience.
I am planning on getting GW2 the moment it's available. Due to a lack of new content, I've been straying from GW (focusing on Warhammer Online now). The games I've been playing are games that I consider to be temporary, things to do while waiting for GW2.

I'd play as much as I had time for. Here's hoping.

id play through half of it, but id also wait for the collectors edition to come out. im not buying the reg one, i want the collectors edition.
Lonesamurai
that isn't true at all...
Most NCSoft games including Guild wars had Euro betas...
Even WoW had Euro betas and have at the moment for WotLK
WAR had Euro beta's and there are still Euro Elder Testers in the Alpha
EvE has beta testers on its Sisi server testing changes for the next expansion too,and has done for most of them...
Not a flame Numa, but please, double check info before saying something you may get flamed or bitten back from
Honestly thats pretty much how I feel... I log into GW once a week now and after 6,000 hours in game and never once grinding anything,I can't stand to be in the game out ofboredom, however, WoW,WAR, EvE, all bore me after acoupleof hours... Even my 360 bores me now... I'm either just getting old, or Guild Wars has shown me something that nothing else has managed to replicate for me

How does one enter a beta anyway?
If it's open, I guess you just download the client and create an account?
If it's closed, you need an invitation: how does one get an invitation?
I'd be interested in playing the beta. I'd slowly do everything there is to do and not rush anything, so I won't spoil the fun when my guild starts playing. Don't want to be too far ahead. Even if your account will be reset, you'll have knowledge of what will happen, so that would be ideal for testing meticulously and slowly, as rushing has no use really.

You can spoof your IP using e.g. TOR of course, but that doesn't make the beta open to europeans.

Well, when I contacted about half of those they all said "no european testers". Actually several of them checked IP to avoid getting european testers. E.g. the beta signup page for Warhammer Online did that, and referred anyone with european IP to the (not yet open) european public beta.

the only one i haven't heard anything about so far is Star Trek Online...
StargateWorlds is open, Darkfall is currently loaded on my pc andwaiting for server dates... They are there, you just need to keep an eye out and even morelikely if your in a good guild
