Deleting your characters
Pure Disasta
UPDATE:
I went ahead and did it and I had quite some funny with the lengthly process of taking apart my armor, selling the runes, removing the weps and gear, using hero points, etc.
Have you ever deleted old characters or even wiped your whole account? Do you regret doing it or do you think you made the right choice?
When I log onto my account and before I choose one of my characters i look at all seven of my characters (Ele, Monk, Ranger, Derv, Sin, Necro, Warrior) and I dont see any of them as complete other then my ele really.
My ele is my LDOA character and he is equipped with the best gear, he has enough money, a couple hundred dyes and is pretty well recognize.
I then look at my necro who was my first character ever created and is approximetely 35 months old and who carries my one and only fow set which was bought at +4mil long ago. I see he has the most memories with him and the most title progressed on.
Then comes my sin, the overpowered farmer, and that super cool ninja dude. He is my newest character but even with only a few days spent on him he has racked in hundreds of ectos and golds and has made millions of xp as well as good progress with all the eotn content.
Now these are the 3 characters I find myself most attached to. I havent played the ele anymore but I feel like he has done everything he can. I havent played my nec in a while but he is my first and oldest char so he is important to me. Then their is my most active character which has taken the majourity of my attention.
So the question within the discussion is do you think it would be a good idea to delete my derv, monk, warrior and ranger? What do you see as the pro's and cons of doing so.
I personally find myself discouraged by looking at all these "incomplete" characters. I think if I had just these 3 to focus on I would be more motivated and could focus on reaching higher levels of progress vs lower levels spread across multiple characters. My intrests for the past few months have been focused on pvp and gaining wealth in pve (farming).
I have thought of some pro's and cons myself, tell me what you think.
Pros
-can focus better
-extra char slots for lots of storage
-room to roll pvp chars
-fun collecting/salvaging all the loot before deleting
Cons
-might at some time want to play a dif class
-wasted money on armor
-loss of those very expensive 1st year presents :P
If you took the time to read through all this thank you. So discuss your experiences and your thoughts on my situation.

This is my personal opinion:
I love all of my characters and I never will ... (wont) ever delete them, just for the effort I made making them and for the fun they gave me playing the game.
Perhaps having less characters will enable people to focus more and do and try better builds but we will be losing the fun of a new one, this is a game, to be enjoyed, after all.

Yea, I've deleted some older characters and replaced them with new ones. Sometimes I just didn't like the name or look I chose 3 years ago, sometimes I just wanted a bit of change. I haven't kept characters I rarely play around just for birthday presents, either.
Gift3d
Yeah, i deleted my year-old character when i was still sort of newbish, to change his name, looks, etc. It was the first character i made so i didn't put much thought into it, i regret that because his name and looks really weren't that bad and he would've been 3 years soon ><

It's kind of cute how you put so much affection to something that doesn't even exist. One could mistake that you're talking about all the memorable moments you've experienced together with your significant other.
exploiter
wait until necro's 3rd birthday, then salvage obsi and delete him :P
Riceboi
Tried out the paragon when it first came out and didn't like it so I deleted it after about a week. Don't really regret it as I'm still "not feelin" the paragon.
EPO Bot
I will never erase my monkie! Tough i did re roll her in September to get LS.

I've deleted and created a whole set of new characters about 10 times over, wasting hundreds of thousands of cash in the process. Makes me sick to think about it too much.
-Loki-
I don't see how you 'complete' a character, personally.

I really want to restart my ranger, who I felt was made much too tall, but she has full 15k druids dyed black and Ranger Norn Armor, plus a blindfold and a Mo Zing mask,
and a Bow of the Kinslayer customized in her name.
but she's to tall!

I've made and deleted a large number of characters, but if they're going to get deleted it's usually within one or two months, so I don't really have a dilemma. I have thought about deleting my male ranger in the past because his hair has a kind of green tinge I didn't notice when I first made him and it REALLY annoys me, but he's three years old, so it's not going to happen. He gets a bandanna instead, haha.
If you don't need the slots, just keep the characters. You can still focus by plain not playing them, and if you want a dervish or whatever in the future, he's still there. Plus you can store stuff on em :-)
JONO51
Deleted a warrior with 15k armor, titles, custo weapons and dont regret it as i never played on it.
Squishy ftw
I've already deleted numerous characters before, for several reasons:
- First monk because after 2 months I just couldn't stand her face anymore. Was too ugly IMO. Remade her with new(and improved!) looks.
- Necro because I didn't enjoy playing the class.
- Ranger because I wanted more PvP slots.
- Dervish because I wasn't going to grind to either lvl 17 or whatever title req it is.
So yes, if you're not happy with some of your characters and think you're better off without them.
Go for it, delete them.

Rerolled ritualist and necro, I just didn't like their names and appearances.

if you decide to deleted any of your character, check how old they are before deleting, might be a few days before you get another birthday present.
I don't think you should delete your ranger thou, its one of my favourite profession
another option
buy character slots
I am thinking of getting rid of my Devish too lol, she has one death .... and my paragon as well, he also has one death rofl! but I don't think I want to start them all over from scratch ... damn you survivor title!

I've deleted all my characters before and its something I regret. I tried to recreate the characters I deleted but it just wasnt the same. Because I deleted all my chars I find myself playing GW less and less.
Daenara
Unless you need the character slot why delete them?
mazza558
I'm also delete-happy. The only characters I refuse to delete are those with elite armor.

Whiped my Account twice so far. First time my main was an Ele with FoW and KoaBD when it still meant sth. That was about a year and a half ago.
Second time was about a month ago where my main was a Monk with R5 KoaBD, FoW, perfectly equipped for PvP with every + 10AL vs X dmg etc etc

I've rerolled my account. Don't do it. You'll only regret it.

You guys are a mystery, and yet I did the same thing.

I've deleted: A Dervish and some other guy or two.
Summary: I REGRET NOTHING!!!

I murdered my first character last year by mistake, I think he's haunting me. O.O;

Deleted assassin, warrior, first ranger (;[ would be almost 3 years old now), one mesmer, one monk, ritualist and a necro that would be 2 years old now. Oh, and dervish and first paragon.
I regret: Assa, since he was far in proph and was used to clear tombs. And I have an assassin now, anyway.
Necro, kinda liked the dude, lol. Even if he was fugly.
Warrior, as it WAS quite fun character. Would be in eotn, too.
Dervish, but got bored as hell.
And that's it. Remade ranger and mesmer, oh and ritualist but I don't play on him anymore.

The only reason you should delete a character is if you think you're going to make another one and you need room. If that's the case for you, go ahead, but it seems like you'll be playing your other three characters enough that you won't have to worry about deleting the others. Enlist them as storage space or something, if you want them to be useful.

I deleted all seven of my characters about 5 months ago or so; the only character I regret deleting is my necro, who was my main for nearly 3 years. I have no regrets about deleting any of the others though.
You might as well keep your dervish, monk, warrior and ranger as mules or something since you're not really playing them anyway. There's always the option of purchasing another character slot to roll PvP characters.

I've deleted my old ranger and rit. I never played them and I hated they way they looked <<;
Remade them a few months afterwards. 8D
I really want to remake my ele, but she has too many 15k sets and maxed 11 titles..not doing that again.
Then there's my problem with constantly deleting and remaking pve necros. I just can't keep one >.<

10 slots.
9 characters.
I pretty much only play my ritualist and mesmer (although the mesmer sees next to zero play these days).
I keep the rest of the guys because I have a LOT of crap - so I'd need storage chars either way.
Having said that - I have no issues deleting a guy and replacing him.
The only title I do care about is the Lucky one - and that one is account wide (that's why my main guy only has 3 maxed titles - and only shows Golden - even when doing areas where I could show titles with benefits - like Lightbringer, and all that GWEN crap).
I mean I did delete my Legendary Survivor (earned the old way with a bunch of questing and skill-capping) mesmer with Fow. His haircut bored me.

I've deleted tons of characters over the course of my account, usually though if they are played for over a month they stay and I have real trouble deleting them even if I've only gotten them halfway through a campaign.
The less played characters get storage duty and don't do a lot, although i'll ocasionally dust them off for a while and get them further from wherever they are.

Only times i delete my chars is when i'm attempting to get a survivor, and that usually gets quite a few tries. Anyway i play my war, ranger, ele, sin and my monk, rit, derv, para, nec are collecting dust. But i won't delete them. Someday it may just hit me to play with them again

Most hardcore reroll I've ever heard/seen was a friend of mine who deleted her GWAMM monk and lost over 14mil+ in titlework etc etc. This was because she wanted darker skin and a new face for that monk (same name). I though she (FREYA I BET YOU'RE GOING TO READ THIS) was insane. I've deleted every single character of mine atleast once, my most recent was my necro cause I don't play him/never will. I deleted the classes I won't play and have 2 PvP slots(actually 3). One of those is a dedicated pvp ele and he's sitting at 7 months right now lol. Lately I've been buying equipment/re-runing myranger (ex-mule which is now my rit which I've completely stopped playing because of class nerfs~all around being dead) which will be PvP ready in 2 weeks or so.
BabyJ
I would never delete any of my characters. The ones that I haven't spent a lot of time on I just use for storage. If i ever do find the time to make another character I would buy another slot before deleting any of them.
Alleji
I deleted two mesmers back in prophecies days (needed a slot).
Deleted a sin after playing it for about 5 hours, found it boring.
Started another mesmer right before the NF preview came out because I decided to wait and make an Elonian one, so the one I started got deleted without even making it to 20. (I still have my elonian mesmer, she survived :P)
Deleted a paragon, same story as with the sin.
