Guild Wars 2, perfect for consoles? PS3 and Xbox 360?
Solange
PS3 has keyboard and mouse support, you plug the ones you use for PC into the PS3's usb ports and they work already
Guild wars 2 would be perfect for console because there's no monthly fee and some of the high graphics that PS3 and Xbox 360 does is at about medium to high now for PC users which I think Guild Wars 2 will be when its released in 2009 or whenever its released
I'd like it, it would get more people into the game and console games these days tend to sell better than PC games
Someone told me PC gaming is dieing

To be honest I would never buy GW2 if it were to be on a console. Any MMO-type game works better on computers, the PS3 may be possible but there is no way a 360 version would make sense (M$ would make you pay for live yes?).

Just general stuff appearing and reading about pc gaming
More developers moving away from supporting PC gaming as a platform, EA no longer making sports games on PC's.... Microsoft having their Xbox 360 titles appear 1 to 2 years later on PC's
The news is out there about it...
I don't think it hits MMO's as much or games that are online only because they require a cd-key to play but many single player games are being driven out on PC to consoles only
I think GUild Wars 2 would still be perfect for consoles and PC's...let all platforms play with each other if posslbe...would be amazing

what do you guys think about it being on consoles and playing with xbox 360 and ps3 users on your pc?
There's a few multiplatform games
I think final fantasy online let ps2 and pc users play together

While it hate to admit, Console gaming is BIGGER than PC, but certainly not better. The problem with PCs is upgrading and compatability issues. Consoles games generally work every single time. It is alot cheaper too.

I'd imagine getting a MMO working well on a console would be fairly difficult, and people who buy Macs aren't buying them to play games.

its just buy the console, buy the game, - it works
With PC gaming theres issues of drivers for video cards, hardware requirements, do you have any hard-drive space, do you have enough memory...do you have the right operating system
Viruses...adware on pc's
Vista DX10 only leaving XP users with DX9 so graphical settings differ and just a barrage of issues

Theres many mac users who play World of Warcraft
The Consoles, especially Microsoft Xbox 360 uses DirectX as an API to program for which is similar to PC so porting everything shouldn't be hard

considering there are a whole 10 or so games that run on Mac, if you bought one just to play games on you're piss stupid.

Lulz @ that magazine. Must be craptastic.
When I see what awesome games are coming out this year-two years (Diablo 3, Assassin's Creed 2 probably in two years, GTA 4 for PC, GoW 2, Starcraft 2), I'm happy I didn't buy X360.

i think that GW2 would be a great on my xbox 360 i can play with friends there is no need for vent and millions more ppl would play it although i think that the keyboard/mouse would have an advantage in pvp versus a controler i would still buy it for both pc and my 360

how the heck would you be able to do all of your spells, etc with a controller with 2 joysticks, a d-pad and 8 ish buttons?
im gonna have to say that AMD definately helped out the PC gaming industry with their new 4800 series graphics cards, so PC gaming isnt dieing.

Firstly to address the EA no longer make sports games for the PC:
IMO, sports games have a completely different market to most other games (both console and PC), many are released each year with almost no changes other than the names of teams and players that are preprogrammed in, this kind of pathetic attempt to make more money without actually doing any work does not fit with the rest of the games on the market and is unlikely to be favoued by the PC gaming market.
Why I don't think it would be a great idea:
IMO, a large majority of the games produced for consoles are very different from the kinds of games produced for PC, the playstyles, the mechanics and the actual programming are very different for many games (with the obvious exceptions of the few games that are multi-platform).
I also believe that the gamers that own consoles and play console games, often have very different gaming interests to PC gamers.
I don't think there would be massive interest from console owners in the MMO market.
The production of keyboard and mice compatible consoles indicates to me that console manufacturers have realised the vsat superiority of the PC input devices, and decided to make their consoles compatible in order to attempt to attract the PC gamers to their market.
In my experience most console games are sold at considerably higher prices than PC games, and the recent trends for consoles and PCs actually brings their prices closer together, consoles are no longer as massively cheaper than PCs.
I have also noticed that most games developed for both consoles and PCs have had their potential enjoyability reduced by the need for compatability with consoles. I find PC games to offer a much better gaming experience in general.
If the game is developed for the PC with no thought for the console market, and only after initial PC release considered for consoles I would have no problem.
If it were designed from the ground up for playon both consoles and PCs, or primarily for consoles eith PCs as an afterthought I would be extrememly wary. I would doubt the gameplay experience the game could offer me as a PC gamer.

Interesting (if not the most intelligent) debate/conversations. Gadd’s people proof your comments before you post them. At any rate, even with a keyboard and mouse, I see a different ergonomic issue: sitting. Well this would be an issue for me. I can play GW for several hours straight because my mouse and keyboard sit on a desk with a nice comfy desk chair.
Yes, of course you could hook your 360 or PS3 up to a monitor and set it up on a desk but don’t most console gamers prefer the couch and a flatscreen? I guess this is a minor argument at best but I don’t see the console idea working for me personally.
As for PC gaming’s demise. Hmm with consoles launching north of $500 and the price of solid computer gaming tech dropping all the time I’m not sure consoles much threaten the computer gaming demographic. PC games are typically less expensive at launch (PS3 titles are what $60?). I don't think PC gamers are stubborn about sticking with the PC either. I think it is a matter of "if it's not broken..."
I have an Xbox 360 given to me by my brother. However, it is in need of a power brick, AV cables and a controller. I was tempted to try Assassin’s Creed. But in looking into the needed accessories, it turns out I would have had to have spent around $180 (including the price of the game) just to get things running. It just didn’t make sense. I could put that money towards a new card (with some left over) for when GW2 comes out for the PC. So even if GW2 came out for the 360 I’m still looking at spending $180 for something that will likely look and play much better on the platform it was originally designed for. Not to mention, I think there is a fee for Xbox Live (above what I already pay for my Internet connection).
This is NOT a bash Solange. I’m just responding to your topic with my opinion. FPS are probably the only games that translate well from PC to Console and vice versa.

OT: As long as mouse + keyboard support is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED. That or have the console players play on different servers than the PC ones. Mouse + Keyboard = far greater than controllers, and I'd hate to have to play with someone who's using one.

lol who let Solange back in >.<

and anyway why would you want GW to be on a console, i just don't see the point.

I would be very shocked if you could find someone who purchased a Mac because they thought, and still think, that Macs are better for gaming.
Whilst people may play games on Macs, and may have thought when buying: "as an extra bonus I can play a few games", the actual reasons that people buy Macs over other computers are looks, stability and other reasons relating to much more specific technical uses, or for user friendliness. The ability to play modern semi-popular games was not the main reason why they bought a Mac (at least for a sufficient majority to make the rest insignificant in this threads discussion, and of course this is all my opinion, there is no reliable way to prove this, nor to prove otherwise).

Second, why would some idiot really want to pay that price for the ps3 when you can buy a computer for the same price and play better games. Because the last I heard the PS3 isn’t selling to good and is costing sony.

the chat pad add-on for the xbox 360 creates very interesting possibilities for mmo gaming. even more so if it was built into a controller and didnt break so easy.

I'm gonna get flamed, but I don't buy console "ports". Even if they start on the PC, once consoles are involved it always turns sour.
However inappropriate, the only control system that will work, will end up being an XBox 360 controller. Release dates will get pulled back, as they try to launch across several formats. *And* they'll find some way to get a driving subgame in there.
Hang on... driving subgame... It's already happening!

Which is actually related to this topic from a sense of measured demand. If console owners are checking off their little boxes and checking "RPG" as type of games they like to play, maybe developers will start to make a shift.
Big a$$ maybe on that one.

If there is a console version, it will only be on the PS3 considering NCSoft and SCEA are partnered up. Microsoft will not be part of that little deal. Sony has an exclusive deal with NCSoft (owners of ANET) for MMOs on their consoles.
