I think it's great that they bring a small part of the Wintersday back now since i love the "event" allthou everything from the real event wont be there this time.
I admit that it's odd to have it now, but why complain. We all have our favorite/not favorite weekend events and Major events.
Btw, GW isn't like real life, therefor you can have a windersday in July, just face it ppl. you don't have to participate, you have a choice!

There have been no details yet released on this event I gather yet? So I am guessing its going to be more then just Arenas based pvp, Apart from the Snowball fighting and normal special drops from mobs etc...

Maybe this is unusual in other parts of the USA/world, but "Christmas in July" is pretty common here in the Northeast. I'm more surprised it hasn't been done sooner.

I think someone who has an everlasting Phantasmal Tonic should create a new toon named similar to "Rift Warden" and have them stand in LA in the usual spot and see how many people will attempt to get the quest from them!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I beg anet do not have that howling freezing wind blowing through town for once during winter. That is so depressing. Havent these people heard of a nice sunny winter day with birds chirping. Every christmas festival I have to unplug my speakers for 10 days so I dont have that wind chilling me to the bones.
And this idea for the weekend... ruins the fun of wintersday happening once a year. Bad. I would trade it all for the chance to get lucky points instead. Give us the rings for a month... Lucky August Month or something like that instead. I still need 21 more straight days on the rings. GW3 or GW4 will be out by the time I can max out lucky!

People do realize that there will be no holiday quests, no collectors and no snow + decorations? The only stuff that we will get will be the Snow Ball arena and holiday drops.

In america (at least in the mid-west) many campgrounds do a x-mas in July. For families to be togeather, meet nice people and exchange gifts with someone you do not know. Why July? Well, here the weather is pleasant enough that time of year to hold events like this. Also, many families are on vaction during this time. The thought of x-mas also seems to help psycologically keep you cool when it is hot outside.
It is not unheard of for these campgrounds to also have a halloween in July as well. If you are a camper it is a fun time to decorate your campsite for X-mas, walk around and meet people and see their sites as well.
It is a good reason to be nice to people, some people need a reason to be nice to others. So, with this thought in mind try it, in game. Be nice to someone you do not know, maybe give them a gift, heck get dressed up in your best windersday gear and sing the carolers of Dwaynas/Grenths songs. Have fun and best of Wintersday in July to YOU.

I'm disappointed that the polar bear quest and other Rift Warden Wintersday quests won't be available, but still overall I think this is a GREAT weekend idea. I'll enjoy the holiday drops and throwing snowballs at wammos.

Nope... I read on the Wiki that no decorations. All we can expect out of this is wintersday drops from monsters and the snowball arena. But the Snowball Arena outpost is wintersday themed so there will be a bit of christmas cheer there!
I wonder if the CC weapon NPC will be in the snowball arena like in previous wintersdays?

Man...I had my hopes up for this event and it was quickly dashed. I like the idea seriously. It was something new and it wasn't double arena faction weekend (GOD I hate those soooo badly) or double something that I had no interest in.
My entire guild was excited about the Wintersday thing, but now it just seems like a waste of time. No npcs, no decorations..just the snowball arena and drops. What kind of Wintersday is that? I think you're kinda ripping off the people in the southern hemisphere. I think they deserve a real wintersday: decorations, the entire ordeal.
I will try to enjoy this weekend even though it's being completely half assed and that's just imo.

Yes.. they ran out of ideas... because recycling the Wintersday event in July is really so fundamentally different from recycling it in December....
