The title says it all, did you ever give access to your account to anyone?

If so, to whom and why? Did you then change your password after they used your account?

I hope this poll will be more accurate, and there's room for people to propose their own answers. We can discuss results here. As I said in the poll introduction:

yeah, ask if you have been hacked and then you can determine how many got hacked and how many of them gave account info out.

Perhaps put in do you use these sites....(list a bunch of gw sites and some of the gold selling sites)

+ I have never been hacked, which might be somewhat related to that.

Edit: But I have access to 12 WoW/GW/LOTRO/EVE etc. accounts.

One GW account from a friend who quit, and then I often get the PW and login of people "to do something for them" ingame. Some of my friends share their keys within their inner friends circle, and I am totally against it. I also often say, change your PW, I do not want to know your login data anymore.

Why? Because then I cannot be blamed when they are "hacked" due to their silly account sharing practice.

Two of them lost their ebayed WoW accounts T6 level whatsoever and still... share their keys with friends, guild leader and so on. The guild leader was not known to them personally, only via teamspeak. In that case it was probably not him, but the sellers simply "stole" back their accounts.

This was their very own fault and stupidity, at least they learnt the lesson not to buy accounts anymore. But they still have not learnt the lesson NOT to share accounts, even with friends.

My friends are not totally dumb, unfortunately in this regard, they are... unfortunately.

I hope this real life example is a warning for other players out there.

Yeah, I gave my account-info to one person.
Why? Because i love and trust that person with everything i own.
And no, i didn't change my password, when my friend does, i'm always notified.
We're free to use each other's accounts whenever we feel like it.

I don't think that we need TWO of this.

You should probably start a new thread to petition for the old one to be deleted, or the two to be merged if you will. (or report the thread to the mods...) I wanted a clean slate so that people ignore the old results. This is not supposed to be a lul thread, but well people these days...

i gave my wc3 accnt info to a friend and they got it banned in tda lol but he did not mess up ladder record or try to steal it

Yes, I did give a person my account info.
My husband and I know each others account info. We're not angry vengeful people so there's no worries that each of us would delete the others characters. I would never give anyone else access to my account, it doesn't really matter who they are they would never get that info. Besides, I would think if i can't trust my husband with my account then i have far more problems then a game is concerned.

no one but me and anet know my password, however, my husband knows my loggin info as he helped me set up my account.
that being said.
no no one has my account info...I have never given it to anyone (including my husband!)
I have never had any problems

my husband: I had his password once because he was having problems with his keyboard and we tried to log in on my computer....I have since lost that information (and his log in I do know....when I pull up gw on his computer the remember me is checked....).....(very strange with what gaile said about retrying a password----we never had a long delay or nothing.....but we got his keyboard fixed very shortly thereafter)

so now no one knows our passwords...though we do know each others login name, no other problems except laggy internet connections

I've fixed the problem by updating the pictures for the 5 questions. It's interesting to see that it's close to a tie situation, with 50% of 68 respondents giving access to their account. But 68 is not a lot.

I have a pretty popular account (ego+1), and there's probably 1-2 dozen people that know the login info, I've never bothered changing it. Some people played just to see what GW was like (demo), some wanted to goof around on a UAS account, and others wanted to use it to GvG (UAS). No one even stole my account, it's pretty easy to judge if someone will steal it or not. Look at what country they are from, how old they are, and how well they communicate in english. It's pretty easy.

In a way, my yes to 1 person is somewhat misleading and I think there may be others with a similar situation...

My husband and I have each other's account info. Quite honestly, if either of us would rip the other off, we'd have far far greater problems than a game lol.

So while I answered yes to 1 person, it's not really the same as just a buddy or coworker or something. We share bank accounts, credit cards, senses of humor, a home, kids, car etc....why in hell would I worry about my log in at that point?

Yes, to a trusted guildie so she could change the password so I would study for final university exams. Got a B+ average

I've never given my information out to anyone, nor would I under any circumstances I can think of.

Though I have been the recipient of account information; one friend so I can log in and get him his festival hats, another fellow so I could get in and take screenshots of his characters for some graphics. Both of these people are very close friends however.
