yes often they are in direct competition (distribution wise) with each other, this partially explains why its nearly always more expensive to buy games on steam.

its a great system for visibility,you get a little synopsis, a crappy "metascore" a subforum where you can see what the general consensus on the game is...

whats the point? user side frankly i dont get it...BUT ive bought a fair share of games off Steam and the reasons are simple: Cant be bothered to go out to get it, impulse buy, simply cant find it....ive been using Steam since beta and yes it had a horrible rough start.

now it works fine.

Steam isn't just a 'shop'. There must be contracts and agreements to make a game available in that system. Guild Wars is exclusive to NCSoft.
For NCSoft, Valve is just competition.

You don't sell competition stuff in your shop.
