Obtaining a Celestial Sigil
pumpkin pie
/signed, its only logical. not only is it logical, its something Arena Net did wrong in the first place, unless they do not want PvE players to build a Guild.

How is spending money not PVE? You get money from killing monsters, you spend it afterwards... thats how it works

what the hell could you possibly gain from 42 character slots?
correct me if im wrong but thats approx $340
we're you dropped on the head as a child...there are 10 professions in guild wars ....even if for some reason you wanted a male and female of each prof thats only 20 slots
please, enlighten me as to how you could possibly forsee that as a good idea
On topic: cigil is 10-15k that can easially be made under an hour even by less experienced farmers, just focus really really really hard and try not to over equip one of your several dozen characters thats going to see very little play in the grand scheme of things and then buy that cigil trader
and i dont see how its a pvp only thing, when i need one i get one from the guild hall ambassador in KAMADAN CITY which last i checked was in pve
also its not like a pvper can just RA and end up with a cigil 5 minutes later, you need to win halls and then hope the end chest gives you one and while winning halls once is relatively easy if you know what you're doing its not a tap your heels twice and there it is sort of thing

On topic:
I have to say I sympathize with you; I have enough cash to buy all the armor and items I want, though I always prefer doing quests or working my way towards a goal even though it takes longer, simply to have something fun to do in the game, and also for the principle of earning it instead of buying it. And on that note, I do think it would be a good idea for them to add some sort of way to get a celestial sigil through a quest that is equally as difficult and, dare I say, epic as winning in the Hall of Heros.
However, they added the trader for a reason; so that PvE players can buy them with their hard earned cash. I argue that the act of earning 16k through questing or farming (whichever you prefer) is the work that you are rewarded for. You're still doing hard work to earn it, just that it sounds like you don't consider acquiring gold to be worthy of a Celestial Sigil. Perhaps what you might do is consider the cash to buy the hall the reward, and acquire it by doing difficult quests on your own terms. Do some grand, epic quests, missions, or storylines to get the 16k to buy the hall. I guess what I'm trying to say is impose upon yourself the idea you suggested here.
Lykan
Your own stubbornness its whats wrong here not guild wars.
Really is kinda stupid, just buy it... geez.
And lets see a pve way to acquire one? How about farm the money to buy one in PVE and then buy it?
There you go, its a pve item, it comes from an npc trdaer, it doesn't matter if that trader is in a pvp outpost its still an npc. Just like buying from the merchant. Hell buy it from Kamadan from a player, then you can say you got it solely from PvEing.
And also, unless you have never brought runes from the trader you're just being hypocritical, as they can be earned thru pve.
And don't say runes are ok as they only drop randomly, so do sigils.

How about this, in PvE you earn tokens. These tokens are redeemable for rewards such as Celestial Sigils. Now, go to PvP...there are none (not as readily available) and harder to obtain. Now, do the math. You do get rewarded a celestial sigil if you want it, you just need to have enough tokens to have that right.

Well if there is only 2 people in the guild why bother with a hall? Im sure people use there halls for different reasons, personally i use it for an area to sort out teams for guild events and activities or coming back to after ive farmed or vanq an area to sell stuff and out other items in my storage but all this can be done in an outpost. Best thing i would say is save your money cause buying the hall is cheap compared to adding the NPC's to the hall.
I understand your point about PvP. It can be pain to do pvp, cause you need to practice to get good, but the amount of abuse you get if you make a mistake or your team loses is just not right (although i have seen this plenty of times in PvE it seems to happen more in PvP).
Well good luck what ever you decide about a guild hall.

Whilst it's interesting (and enlightening) to see the variety of arguments created by the OP - from name-calling to doubting her ability, through to questioning her need for 42 characters, the essential point is "why can't Sigils be dropped from a chest or bosses?"
I agree with the posters who say just buy one from the gold you earned but why not have the Doppelganger be able to drop a Sigil or have the possiblity of one dropping at the end of the Nah Pui mission? It would then represent the 'reward' the OP is looking for a 'significant' event in a characters 'life'.
Just a thought...

Yes, please add a PvE way to obtain a Sigil ... so we can have another thread about that
oh and

since obtaining a Sigil is easy atm, so there is no point in changing it.

Farm raptors.
Get 10k.
Buy a sigil at the trader, similar to how you'd buy id kits.

It is realy not that hard. We remade our guild yesterday and now look at that :
We already have a guildhall without buying a sigil.
I dont realy care how stubborn you claim you are. Celestial Sigils are a PvP reward for a PvP-related purchase. They should never be acquired as loot through PvE.

Lady Raenef
Well, personally, the purpose of the trader was so that you could take your PvE rewards (your accumulated gold over time) and spend them on the sigils so that your guild didn't have to actually go complete HoH to get one. Imagine if sigils were customized and couldn't be traded...what a world.

I now have more evidence for my theory that some pvp players assume the mantle of "God walking amongst mere mortals" all to readily.
I am assuming this from the way some express their views not necessarily the views themselves.
pvp players always sound so defensive whenever a game change is mooted "ok maybe pve players do this when skills are nerfed lol"
Since there are many pve guilds the idea that guilds "no matter why they were created" are just for pvp players is rubbish.
Whatever the original ideas of the game creators where its changed out of all recognition and continues to do so.
We are all in the game to enjoy it and I don't want to mess around with how others play it.
Chucking the sigils in a chest is probably the best that can be hoped for although I would hope it was set up so its not abused by players.
Maybe and I don't believe I am saying this a title track "shudder" leading to a sigil could be worked out.
Thus providing a pve challenge to get one.
btw this is a bit of a magic moment for me as this is the first thread that has lead to an abusive private message.
Im so happy I could cry.

I hate to say it but you really contradict yourself a lot throughout this thread. The big one being you statement that
That being said there is a way to use hard work and effort to get a sigil and that is to learn to PvP and put the practice it takes to get into the HoH and win a match. I am a PvE player and even I have managed to win the halls a few times. So either put in the hard work and effort you so vigorously support and get to HoH or pay the money you earned in PvE.
I mean if it randomly drops from a boss or chest you are still going to farm for it, what is the difference between that and farming 10K for it.
Again look at the primary purpose for a GH and then understand why it is a PvP reward. The game is called guildwars, while there is a PvE element the guildhalls are for fighting. While they offer a great place to get everyone together they are still intended for use in GvG.
Next topic from a PvPer - I think the other team members we kill should drop items. I want some cool stuff and don't feel I should have to PvE to get it.

um... it's 10k... it used to be a lot more i think! htey have already lowered the price >.>
ppl that can afford 10k are worthy to have a guild of their own..
even if u get the sigil from pvp, u can't fill it with npc's coz they cost from 10k to 100k ea so getting the sigil would be a waste of time for u that can't afford 10k

Arduin
Touchy subject.
I've completed all there is to do PvE-wise on one character. Can't be bothered with other characters. The only thing that keeps me interested is maxing titles, and all of those cost money, lots of it.
Sure, I like doing missions or quests which would give me party points or sweet points. But there aren't many outside of the festivals.
So now I'm stuck with farming money in order to buy those stuff from other players. And to be honest, it really doesn't give me any satisfaction when I buy a stack of sweet points, and click them all away.
So I guess I can follow your logic, Dryndalyn. Just buying a Sigil would devalue the Guildhall you would use it for (it would for me).

Though I'd be one to say to simply buy the Sigil, I'll still /sign it, as you've put it in a logical manner and I see no harm in there being a way to do so.

PvE'rs don't deserve a Guild Hall.
Abedeus
I say you don't deserve more than 2 character slots.
10k can be gained in one fow/uw/doa clear. If you can't do that, get 15k balth faction and buy zkeys. If you CAN'T THAT OR WIN HOH, DON'T F'ING PLAY THIS GAME.

Dryndalyn, I'm sure you have some sort of principles regarding this sigil.
But really - I'll just give you one ingame tonight. It's easier that way.

Sigils can be gained through PvE. Monsters drop gold, which can in turn be exchanged for a Sigil. No one is telling you to PvP for your sigil. Like others have said, do you only use runes you find yourself? Do you only make armor from materials you salvage yourself?
Add that to the fact the Guild Hall really doesn't have a purpose beyond GvG. Any NPC's you can buy through the Hall are available at almost every outpost.

Crom The Pale
I payed 70K for my sigil long ago and have now spent insane amounts of money purchasing every NPC for the Hall.
If you can't afford the sigil, then the hall is worthless to you since you won't be adding the NPC's.
If your buying a hall to GvG, then you should be able to get 1K from each of the guild members that wish to GvG and purchase the hall collectively.
Note* I PvE only (save for some AB now and then) and my guild has been strictly PvE since its creation. We like having the Guild Hall as a place to log on and off, do trades, sit and talk or just meet to set up for a mission.

You're lucky the Sigils are even tradeable.
MagmaRed
Call Dr. Phil. Maybe he can offer you advice on how to get through this. 42 characters, and a simple way to acquire what you want, yet you won't use that method.
10 characters would allow you to have 1 of each class.
If you want to help people who are new, and just starting, and using a new character yourself, buy an 11th slot and delete/recreate a character as needed.
Buy a 12th for occassional PvP/AB, etc. if you decide you want to do that.
You would be surprised to learn how many of the PvP players have earned a Sigil themselves. Even the people who PvP do not always play HA, or win. Even those that win do not always get a Sigil. Some people play HA a lot, and win a lot, and have earned a lot of Sigils. That is how the people who don't play PvP are able to purchase the Sigils from the trader.
If you want a goal, make the goal earning the money to buy a Sigil from playing PvP, not PvE. That way you are still earning the Sigil in the way you are supposed to (loosely).
Wow..... I'm amazed someone would actually admit to this kind of insanity. I truly hope you are exaggerating, or seeking professional help. This sounds like a mental problem, not a GW problem.

Everything in GW costs gold. Armor doesn't drop and if you want to wait until 168 (42 characters and their heroes, assuming you always use the same three heroes) Superior Vigor runes have dropped, I wish you the best of luck. Simply put, gold drops so you can buy stuff with it and I really don't see the problem in buying a Celestial Sigil. Would you feel differently if Celestial Sigils could be bought from merchants for 10K? (ANet, this is not a suggestion!)
I really do understand your point; you feel that ANet discriminates against PVE'ers, but that is just not true. In fact, it's just the other way around. After all, PVP'ers can't get everything either. They can't get (or even trade for) elite armor and they can't get green items.

How about joining a guild with a hall
Just drop the idea that you must aquire it yourself. Its like OCD in a game... if you buy it the world wont end, all that happens is u get a hall. You say its on principle, but you are the only one in the game who has this principle. Just buy a sigil lol
