Great update! What do we get next week?
Lagg
This last update has been the best news for Guild Wars in months, maybe years.
ArenaNet has proven that they are, in fact, not afraid to breathe new life into their game!
So let's not stop here.
Speaking for the Warrior class alone — more specific even — Warrior Elite skills alone, there are still a huge number of skills waiting to be revised.
To name but a few: Hundred Blades, Primal Rage, Magehunter Strike, Headbutt, Flourish.
To the point, what gets updated next week?
I'm sure you'd be quick to accuse me of getting the hand and now wanting the rest of the arm.
But I assure you I'm not quite like that.
I got the hand and now demand the arm, the upper torso, the head, the legs and even the other bodies in the immediate vicinity.
And it's all in the name of being a paying customer!

Hmm I think you are over-rating that update. IMO it buffed many overpowered skills, only nerf was ursan which should have happened ages ago.
Esan
Updates are now on a monthly schedule, so there will be nothing new next week.
Ate of DK
Linsey said on several places that they focus on a monthly update that brings us something "new". She also mentioned that she was allready behind schedule for next months update. So don't expect anything to happen soon.

I'm sure ArenaNet is as thrilled as we are that they've managed to restore quite a bit of the playerbase's faith in the game (and their upcoming game).
No reason stopping now and causing a major disappointment.

As long as it's worth waiting for.

I have never really cared a lot about skill updates - but this one I really do like. It was well worth waiting for. If they produce more updates of this quality I certainly don't mind giving them the time they need to do it. (I am one sin, by the way, who thinks changing WotA to dagger only was great - even if it did force me to redo 3 scythe builds).

The PvE skills didn't get buffed rly, just had the lower values moved up. It nerfed all 3 Norn Blessings, and it buffed most of the skills into "useable, but not overpowered."
Good update.

ya but they broke gvg
Lest121
Some of the skills that got buff are ridiculously powerful......PvP areas needs a skills separation like PvE vs PvP..............RA is a different breed of PvP compared to HA, TA, or GvG, I most RA or TA if i can find a team and it's crazy what these buffs have done.
Smurf Minions
Yup, agree with DarkNecrid, let's hope they trying to bring it back to the prophecies balance whic there were alot options you could play, and they all worked even well, so it was just in skill not in build wars , hope they gonna buff alot more of those now useless skills.

Don't get me wrong, skill balances are important and they change the game and all... BUT I like to see new stuff. Hopefully that HoM update comes in september.

First off, you're not a paying customer. You paid once, thats it. Anet has no responsibility to nerf/buff ANYTHING. So next week, you get NOTHING. Its already been stated they're doing larger updates at the beginning of each month (yay!).
Secondly, warriors have ALOT of useful elites and ALOT of combos to choose from. ATM I am instead petitioning anet to start making more derv elites (which have the lowest number to choose from w/ paras) more viable in both PvP and PvE.
And TBH it wasn't that much of a monster update. They could have left the stupid PvE only skills alone and put more thought into the class skill updates.

Why don't they just come out and tell us why only PvP based titles get emotes?
Either way I can see it happening...
Zaishen Marketplace! An Auction house, entry fee: 50 Tourny reward points.

There won't be a marketplace in GW1.

Well, I for one would like to see next week's update fix the problems with this week's update:
- Revert Order of Undeath for PvE. (Probably keep the new version for PvP, since the change was clearly geared towards PvP, and it sort of works for low-end PvP. But it's just a mind-blowingly bad change for PvE. So this is a perfect opportunity to actually use the PvE/PvE Split. (In fact, for once, it's an opportunity to use the Split to give PvP a buff instead of PvE.)
- Tone down some of the elites that got overbuffed that weren't addressed in Friday's update.
- Fix the outstanding bugs with this update. Lindsey is fixing them at an admirable clip, but there's still several to go.
- Take another look at removing the Soul Reaping timer. Now, I happen to feel that the timer...
- (a) Was always a terrible idea. Even if restricting SR was necessary, the timer was a piss poor way to do it because of the clunkiness, the randomness, the way it punishes you (severely) for playing better, the way it punishes you from thinking ahead, and the numerous ways it conflicts with other mechanics, and...
- (b) Outlived its manifest purpose the day a-net backtracked and finally did what they should have done about spirit spam in the first place -- removed SR from spirits. Once they did that, there was no good reason to leave the timer in the game. However,...
Not anymore it doesn't. The other options just got a whole lot stronger. When mesmers are getting a 100% reliable 4 pips, and eles are getting a 100% reliable 2 pips plus 48 free attribute ranks, or "the madness that is ether renewal," Soul Reaping is starting to look pretty weak by comparison. Whatever validity it may have previously had (which was very little in my view), the argument that "SR gives too much energy compared to other options" became patently false this past Thursday.
And so I say: It's time to take another look at removing the Soul Reaping timer. It's way past time for it to go.

This is exactly the reason why a lot of people hate this community, and why it fails. People simply do not know when to stop asking. By the time ANet gets around to fixing everything little thing you guys want, GW2 will be out and it won't matter anyway. ....<_<
There, fixed it for you. This game isn't an MMO, you don't pay to play it. People don't complain about fixing things in GTA4 (except major bugs) because they only paid once. Same goes for you.

second, a can't stand when people say gws isnt an MMO. im sorry, but it cheeses me off when nothing in the acronym of
massively multiplayer online game, ever once says the word money, nor pay to play. we're not a traditional MMO, granted, but thats simply because other, money hungry corperations love to soak up as much cash as they possibly can, for mediocre support and content, whereas the people of anet want to give quality, quantity, and something new, for the best bang for the buck the online gaming community has ever seen.
its exactly why a 3 year old game with little-to-no staff has managed to keep north of 3 million players, and at one point rivaled the biggest MMO in history, for no monthly fee

Really, ANet could have just not done anything about ursan, and they could have ignored all the unused elites. Sure, some of the changes were bad, and some of the elites are still useless, but at least there are more viable elites.
I was really surprised by this update, because it shows ANet haven't completely left GW behind. For the first time in God knows how long, I'm saying good job ANet for a good update.

I actually liked the update. I actually did bring more variety to the game, and now you actually have to kind of use your head. You can't have your cat walk across the keyboard anymore and have it be an instant win.
And GvG wasn't destroyed. If anything, it brought in more of a variety of skills to it.
In fact, if this is what we are going to be seeing in every update, give or take a few skills. Over-needed nerfs/buffs, AI updates, bug fixes, sometimes new features, I'm will willing to wait. Anet never said that they would have an update to you every single week of the month.

Dude, what are you talking about?... Magehunter Smash is fine.
on-topic: I thought the update was great. Paragon elites are still mostly useless but we've gotten used to it.

I loved this update, and am looking forward to see how GvG develops now. I am just surprised they haven't done anything with the worst elite of all time, seeping wound.

Whatever you might think, GW belongs to a sub-genre of MMOs, and thus is one, and is driven by completly different mechanics. One of which is keeping the playerbase. Can you imagine keeping someone entertained for 3 years without any updates? Can you imagine someone playing GTA4 for 3 years?
I didnt pay once. I actually paid 7 times (4 times through the online store).
Would i have paid seven times if there hadnt been constant updates? Will i pay again in the future (for either gw1 or 2) if i cannot -expect- updates?

It's part of this belief that "Guild Wars is an MMO" that's hurting it. In MMO's, true, you're being given frequent and new content. But you're also giving them a subscription fee. Guild Wars does not have that. Guild Wars is free to play, and that's just one of many reasons of why I consider it closer to Diablo 2 than any MMO I've ever played.
You've already gotten what you've paid for, you're not really entitled to anything else.

just because "everyone else" did it, doesnt mean its right, good, blue, or anything else, it just makes it a copy. WoW, EQ, Lineage, etc, all fall under the same exact cookie cut mold, and most of them flopped except for the one that pumped out the most crap (WoW). GWs broke that mold, but never once broke the unwritten rules of being an MMO.. oh wait.. thats because there are none. its massively multiplayer online game. gws has each of all three words making that acronym, so where it isnt an MMO, i'll never know.
also, talking about a single player, offline game like most of Biowares titles (minus NWNs) is totally off topic.

Guild Wars doesn't have any of those things. Does that make it a bad game? Far from it, but many would argue (and you can see in the suggestion forums and from tons of other complaining) that it's a "bad MMO" for not having them. A lot of people come to this game not because it's free to play but because they expect a lot of the things that come with a game being p2p. The truth is that Guild Wars only differs from your traditional RPG in that it's online only. If you were given the option to play offline you can bet that you'd see a lot of people looking at it differently.
"Guild Wars is online only", well so is Team Fortress 2. "You can only play with other people", again TF2 (and not so true anyways with henchmen and even moreso with heroes). To be honest, each outpost in Guild Wars feels just like a 3D Battle.net chatroom, with each party being a seperate server.
To sum it up, it takes more than a few facts for something to be labeled as an MMO. These days it's very gameplay and content specific. And since Guild Wars doesn't fit into that mold and doesn't meet those expectations, I don't call it such. I consider it an RPG, and that's why I compare it to other RPGs (hence the Bioware mention).
