But I am farming ectos. I was farming them long before the SF hype. And even though thousands of people started farming Chaos Planes, and ecto dropped in price somehow the drop rate didn't change. I'm getting the same amount on average than I was getting when there was no easy mode.
The drops are decided when you map in, that's true. But It doesnt matter if 1000 people are farming in the same time, or if it's just you.

Do you think we will ever have another double Kurz/Lux rep donation week? You know the one where if you donate Kurz/Lux faction, you get double the rep (or actually 4x since it's already double). I think that weekend is the longest one we've gone without. Dye/Lockpick weekend might be a close second.

Ecto is a monster trophy, same drop rate in NM and HM. It is a completely different issue than item drops. Anet might not want to admit it, but the time of day DOES affect your drops, meaning that the amount of people playing your zone or area as a whole in the GW community.
If you try to farm anything at around 7:00 or 8:00pm cst on a weekend night , GL and your drops suck ass. Farm at 8:00am cst on MTWR, = GG nice drops. You can argue all you want about the amount of people farming don't matter, but you my friend just haven't played enough to know the difference.

Yeah, I don't understand this sort of weekend. Green drops are cool, it is a good way to get stuff for heroes / help out guildies with weapons. But the skill capping XP? XP is kind of meaningless in this game except for survivor title, in which case I would imagine farming would be safer than trying to get to bosses. Whatever though, I hope I get some neat greens :-)

well . . . it worked out well for me.
I am new to being high lvl, and don't where to get many captures . . . I only got two, my first two ever.
But the first one put me from lvl 17 to midway through 18, and the second got me midway through 19, and I got soooo many new quests that hitting 20 was easy.
My first 20!! Yay for me.
I was amazed at how many new quests I got at that point. Going through the game, I don't think I ever had more than four at one point - now i have about a dozen.
One quest is to capture an elite skill - but I got it after i captured the two i could find, and wasn't able to capitalize on that.

I got a few of the greens I've been wanting and a bunch that I didn't really care about. All in all not a bad weekend. The bosses in Sorrow's Furnace will be sore for a while.

Interesting story.... I wanted some staffs for my ele heroes this past weekend. So the easiest one I could think of was Exuro Flatus in the Domain of Secrets. I must have tried 20 times with no luck at all. (I know I know "That's nothing, one time I did it 5,00 times....") But here comes the strange part. The next time I went out I used an xp scroll and I got his green to drop. I thought "Nah, that had to be a coincidence." So I tried it again, with a different type of xp scroll. And he dropped again. So I'm thinkin, "No way, that had to be a fluke." So, I went to the merch and got 4 of the cheapest xp scrolls, went out 4 more times, and guess what? He dropped 4 more!!! That was 6 in a row after 20 times with no luck what so ever. I was so happy I just went back into Gate of Madness (I think that's where I left from?) and found 3 other people that said they were there for Flatus Farming (*snicker* 
) and just gave them away.
So in closing, I have no idea if it was because of the scrolls or if it was just pure luck. But, wow, that was the funniest thing I ever saw. If I wouldn't have been so tired, I would have milked Flatus at least another 25 or so times. Purely for scientific purposes of course.

I took advantage of the weekend...capped about 30 skills and got my Monkie Legendary Survivor. Only got three greens...Lunto's Pincers, The Woespreader, and Neoli's Contagion, lol. >_>

did lots of skill capping this weekend got NO greens, then decided to just grind out for my ebon on my ranger killed the same bunch of charr/mantids/skales and a few bosses...still no green....figures. since 2x0=0.
