It's not real money, it's an endless quest to have more and more. Maybe you screenshot-submitters consider it the whole purpose of Guild Wars to have a "perfect" character, or some other unrespectable reason.
This thread is terrible as it gives the general impression that Guild Wars is all about what you have. Guild Wars is about actually playing the game. And for those people who say "I got this in only a couple of weeks" or "I only have 100k", please, you do not need to brag. Why does everyone, or at least most feel they need to prove thier riches.
I don't mind if you think I'm complaining because I'm "poor", because I am not going to bother explaining my account and what I have, as I do not feel the need to have to prove my "non-noobness".
No one is Guild Wars is poor.
No one is Guild Wars is rich.
This may be hard for some to get the jist of. Try to think along the lines of "How is it possible to be rich in Guild Wars, if getting gold is not what the game is for".
*it's ok if it is used as just a description of a player*
I just enjoy playing Guild Wars, and I don't worry about how much gold I have.
Hockster
I've played the game since release. I've beaten he game completely with all six primary character types. Three characters have done every quest, gotten every bonus in every mission. My primary account has every skill, elite or wotherwise, unlocked, and virtually every item in the PvP faction lists. I play now to improve my preferred item collections.
If you want to bitch and whine about players like myself, then do it to your shrink.

I've beaten the game with four characters and now spend most of my time helping guild mates. When I'm not doing that I farm and now have about 500K in the vault, 15K armor for all characters (some with multiple sets), some decent weapons and miscelaneous crafting materials, dyes, etc. I have no idea what is going to happen to prices with the release of chapter 2, but feel safe keeping most of my wealth as gold. I will continue to farm when there is nothing else to do, and to sell farmed runes and craft rare materials to turn a modest profit.
Ghost Recon
I don't really care who is richer than me, as basicly all the rich people in this game either:
Have no social life at ALL.
Or wasted a ton of money buying gold of Ebay.
Got lucky and got good drop or holds halls and makes loads that way.
I know quite a few people who would be called rich but they are just are very good at holding halls and make gold that way.
Also buying gold of Ebay = Sad and normaly tie's into having no social life.
I myself wouldn't be called rich, but i have enough to get me what i want. (Lucky drops FTW!!!)

Cygnus_Zero
I have about 1.5 mil in cash and ectos. That is after months of farming UW and FoW, IDS runs, and all that fun stuff. I don't play GW anymore so that money is just sitting there doing nothing. I'll probably blow much of it when Factions comes out, if I decide to get it.
habbyjabby
if any of you guys need anywhere to put your overflow cash/items/ectos/any other rich stuff you got. im here for you.

Deadlyjunk
I am rich! I have 10K, but a full friend's list and an empty ignore list!
ignis
then you are indeed the richest one so far, Deadlyjunk.
I'm close though, I have 5 people in ignore and the rest is friends.

/edit: oh btw. Did a FoW run earlier; with an eight man group getting to forge, I got 8 non-max white/blue items, ~4 remains, and ~15 dust! Is that good?

Arcanis the Omnipotent
Surprised Kago hasnt posted in this. Man's the richest player I know.

akh or (sadly) RR are probably the richest in gw.
atm i have 100k, 105 ectos, 33 shards or something, some nice weps and 15k armor for most of my chars... most cash i ever had was ~550k, spent it on ectos.

850k, a set of fissure armor, 13 mroe sets of 15k, all "perfect" weapons (not vanity skins), all made back in the day. Never famed UW.
Even still I feel poor every time I open storage

Anyway, Im not really rich, about 2-3k tops atm , but I can make ~100k a day farming in UW as a 55hp monk and my gf who plays ss/sv necro (and I get all drops!).
My problem is, I earn money, then I join those lame FoW chest run groups and burn all my gold within a day.
I cant resist it
Most gold I ever had was 225k
Murder In China
Depends on what you're selling.
*Hint* Don't try FoW chest runs, unless you're feeling lucky.

i don't really keep items, i just sell them for gems.
eternal bow worths something like 80k, serpent axe is a gold req9 unid i still have to decide what to use it for
all the monstrous claws/fangs u may notice... they're my personal bet for factions... soo cheap, no use and they have the same inner value then ectos/shards
if they get some use, well... i'm gazilionaire.
if not, i just used 300k to buy them all. and i can have at least 200k back when i want in case they keep having no use in factions!
(2000x100g inner value any trader pays = 200k). probably more since someone would be interested in buying them for 140-150g
well... got a fow set for my mesmer too but that doesn't count as richness as noone is so dumb to salvage to get a dozen of ectos back

not the pic, but the fact that you people think its for real.
Even if the pic wasnt photoshopped by a pro and it is indeed someones storage account I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY x a billion doubt that this person actually earned all FIVE THOUSAND globs of ectoplasm. Ive seen and heard of many people item dupping and theres plenty of forums out there that have the sole purpous of promoting this type of activity. (but you have to pay for it naturally)
Then theres always the ebay or IGE'd gold/items... it just takes a person who cares enough about a game to pump their real money into having items on it.
Seriously though. 5,000 ectos.
Not earned. Im sorry, but impossible. Unless this person is a robot and has dedicated 24/7 of their life since the game came out of farming/running/ and straight up playing the game all the time without rest then maybe, maybe.
Actually scratch the photoshoped by a pro line, anyone could do that.
Ruvaen
If you had adequate starting capital and caught the commodity price reset with the traders several months back right away, maybe 5000 ectos would've been possible... but then I don't know anyone that made off with more than a thousand. =X

You cant item dupe in this game btw. And yes there are a number of people with this kind of wealth so it is actually possible. Denying it is possible just shows massive amounts of ignorance.
fiery
You can't dupe, this isn't like Diablo 2 LOD when you can dupe items. Really can't HACK or CHEAT in Guild Wars.
Arya Nibelrund
I know whose those belongs and it's not a fake pic; that guy made money teaching other ppl a very specific thing, really a cool idea.
Fates
As a previous poster mentioned, if you have a fairly good bankroll when the commodity price reset occured, and you were online at the time, you could have bought that many ecto fairly cheaply.
I missed it by an hour or so and still got some sup monk ruins cheap. Too bad I wasn't willing to gamble more, or i'd be a very rich man today. As it was, I still made a few hundred K within a couple weeks.

I have never, ever had a single ruby, ecto or shard, FoW armour makes no sense to me & I never have more than a few thousand in my storage at any one time.
Yet, strangely, I don't much care, I am a member of a great guild, I have infused armour the equal of any other & max damage weapons....
I play pve & gvg & win more than I lose & have fun doing it...
Why on Earth would I want millions in cash, it has no relevance to the game at all.....
This thread is pointless unless you are easily impressed or under 12 years old...

Nice. So I'm not the only one that believes material wealth is both pointless and worthless in a game designed for skill. (AKA Guild Wars)

Also Fow armor allows for people to not know what type of armor they are wearing. I dont pvp but i imagaine it would help slightly.
