Ecto Costs and Armbraces

Oh wow... the quality of my play? LOL... that there is nothing wrong with. I was one of the many complaining about it being overpowered in the first place because of the fact that 95% of the GW population wanted it in order to do just about ANYTHING in the game. I fell into that 5% who preferred to be a quality player and use actual skill based builds to venture through the game with the intent of achieving any specific goals I had in mind. In any case, it's what I choose to call it, its an expression of what I think and feel about it and honestly if people don't like it, don't continue to follow this thread or any posts I may put up. I'm not going to change the way I think and feel or what I call it just because some people are QQing about it. It's nothing to do either with my quality of play anyway. No one needs to get all butthurt and "feel the need to kill you slowly" or decide they want to lose respect for someone over a stupid word or name.

take out the "I was of the 5%" crap and this really just works for both sides then dose it not? oh and i guess the part about how you used real skill bars I guess if ya wana be that prickish about it. oh wait... I mean stuff you got off pvx anyways... yes your so much better.

so by the bold part's logic I should not lose respect for my landlord cuz he calls my black friend the "n" word lol saying that just makes me feel 5 again.

Are you really truely comparing "noobsanway" to the "N-word?" Wow. Here in one hand I have a low opinion of an overpowered build that the masses decide to make out to be the "only" build out there for a period of time and you are comparing it to a racial slur? Now that is baffling. You've pretty much just said in that little bit that what you have to say means absolutely NOTHING. As far as PvX, while a few of the builds here and there are "nice" i usually use it as a reference if anything for ideas on builds I end up deciding to make myself. One mans burning arrow build is another mans poison(or bleeding)/burning arrow epidemic build with some other skill changes in there of course. Maybe ya should give me a whisper when I get off work here and hop on GW later. Might actually learn something from me if you're able to keep an open mind.

in a very odd kinda stupid way ( even i know it ). ya i just compared racial slurs to the wood noob. really what is the word noob to you? dose it mean someone who is bad at the game? or just someone who uses "the easy way out"? either way you just called anyone who used ursan a noob, while not even knowing them or there play styles (apart from that they have used ursan at least once). so yes... in a very abstract way it dose relate somewhat to racial slurs.

No, the reason for the word Noobsanway is a reflect of displeasure towards the build itself. Nerfsanway which I also called it is a reflection of my joy of it having been nerfed while still voicing my displeasure of what the build once was. Nothing wrong with it and nothing that makes me a bad person.

I never said you had to "play", just give me a whisper. Just because I don't like a particular build and have a name for it that I prefer to call it doesn't make me an elitist, it makes me opinionated. This whole thread was suppose to be about the market on ectos and armbraces. The fact that I called a build Nerfsanway or Noobsanway despite it being known as Ursanway really is moot.

I think the OP is missing something here. The rise in prices for armbraces has little to do with the low price of ecto's. Since Ursan got changed there hardly are any people anymore in DoA. There simply is less farming going on there which means fewer gems and thus supply is down. Automatically that will make the price rise if the demand is still there.
Now the change for the HoM has been announced in the developer notes but is not yet known by the larger public and won't until the change to the HoM is actually made.
If at that time the larger public gets involved then demand will rise and with a lower supply it will push up prices. By how much remains to be seen but the fact that items put in the HoM will become customised it will mean that a lot of tormented weapons will become untradable and therefore supply of items will be down even more.
Still, after a while if people get upset enough they may do something to make farming gems easier again, increasing the supply.

As far as ecto's are concerned it is harder to say what will happen there. A lot of people may have already gotten their FoW armours since they were already addable (is that a word?) to the HoM. So I don't know if there still is such a demand for them. It appears at this point that Zaishen Keys are the stronger currency.

And as another poster stated, ecto's were not designed as a currency. They are still materials so their value can change all the time.

And all in all 100k +15e was an all time low price for armbraces. So yeah, I would say that your concern is unfounded.

As far as the armbraces being a concern, it wasn't so much a concern just a questionable observation I'd made while sitting in Kamadan whlie people were selling Tormented weapons for 100k+20ish while noticing these other cats in the game selling armbraces for 10-20 ectos more. It made remember a time of when armbraces had lowered to 100k + 15 ectos and then suddenly nerfsanway became the big deal and the SF Sin builds were rampant and ectos went down and with that Armbraces rose (nevermind that any added farming that was done in DoA would have countered that in my mind but that's another story). But now that the nerfs have happened, how suddenly what was once one way is significantly higher. But yeah, the numbers weren't adding up for me on the armbraces till several reminded that the HoM and people wanting to load up on tormy's for their halls bringing on an increase in demand kinda lit the bulb for me.

As far as the ectos are concerned, I'm well aware of them being a material and their prices will shift but with the changes in UW and the 2 respective builds, ectos to my thought should have risen in price. Though i'd understand that with the flood of ectos on the market, that people might be dumping them into the rare mat trader for the near future until a time comes when the market isn't quite as flooded and the price may eventually rise would be the case. Was also thinking that there are probably new farm builds out there people might be using to obtain ectos now and wondering if that might have been the case to. In any case... I was just trying to understand the market and what all was going on and seeing what people had to say. Unfortunantely it got steered into a couple different directions it didn't need to because of dislike (nerfsanway) or misperception (people thinking I'm QQing).

That's all well and dandy, but there are plenty of people on Guru and in-game who think they are awesome (Ursan or no Ursan) when they are still not that great. I think your mistake is the assumption that, "I'm a good player because I don't use Ursan." There is virtually nothing intelligent in being a zealot.

My advice to you is to realize this: given the annoyed/frustrated responses you received, that should be a good indication that your writing style and/or attitude needs a change. Uninformed/over-generalized, cocky, confrontational, and poorly delivered arguments don't usually result in a successful thread. So yea, maybe this thread should be closed on your request. Just IMO - take it or leave it .

Actually my arguments have been fine and I've made my point it appears now and there seems to be peace at least with one. My writing style is my style and that's just the way it is. Everyone can read the same story and each person intepret it differently. Ever actually stay awake during an English class and get 5 or 6 different opinions on a story of what they thought was being said? I never said I was "good because I don't use Ursan", I said that i prefer to be a quality player who actually uses skill based builds. Sounds to me you are more interested in attacking just to attack. Going back to what I said though... this thread was ABOUT Ectos and Armbraces. I only felt the need to defend myself because there was a bit of nitpicking about things this thread wasn't about in the first place. The criticism was unnecessary and definitely was not an answer or response to what this was all about.

This is another example of a back and forth here that shouldn't even be in the first place. Besides, if you are going to attack my quality of play, the least you could do is take 10 minutes in the game and run with me and find out for yourself, otherwise your attacks on me and my quality of play are without weight and merit thus leaving your babble meaningless. I didn't come on here to talk about being a great player. Do yourself a favor and go back and read the first post and understand, that's what this thread is about.

I wasn't "attacking" the quality of your play - I've said quite the opposite, and previously stated what you just did. We don't know how you play, which is why people were having a problem with what/how you were saying. So.. um, don't get so excited next time - I never said "you suck." I just said there's a possibility due to what previous experience I and others have had with others on guru.

Oh, and I did read what the thread was about, and I've even addressed it. You might want to... go back and read my posts and understand .

If you don't want the exchange, don't reply - simple as that. Personally, I'm done here because I honestly believe you don't understand what I'm saying, or you're misreading it. Doesn't matter, if you were defending, then you WILL attack, it's only natural. You could have send him a PM and take your fight there in private. So no matter the reason, you did it, so you're responsible for apart of this.

On topic, I saw a post that says ectos are 14k/each now, is that true? Cause that's pretty crazy imo.

I take something of a George Carlin approach as far as this goes. The economy whining is entertaining, so please ArenaNet, don't help any of them Let the players suffer in the oh-so-terrible economy that is based entirely on their own player-chosen prices.

I don't see this thread getting any better without me nuking almost every post, so closed.
