HOM Thoughts on the possible benefits

I've been thinking,

What if Anet decides to limit the benefits to just 5? What do you think the benefits would be?

Honor/Gwamm=would be a nifty emote, something on the lines of KOABD +1 = a plain Divine Aura. with each rank, it becomes more divine, and godly.

Devotion= would probably be an ancient Dragon minipet, probably Primordus or Drakkar.

Fellowship= Adds an GW2 only elite Ranger pet, or one Hero from the GW2 story (as a artificial sidekick) or both.

Valor= If the weapons work the same way in GW2, then I'll asume gold max inscripable choice of a unique skin, lets call it "Moument Weaponry" for each weapon, it's not going to be necessarily Destroyer. you can get a weapon but this applies only to your class choices. and Wand/Foci and Sword/axe and shield goes together in pairs.

Resilience=GW2 only based armor skin, Prestige/Elite level armor with lot of detailing, max armor. probably the highest tier of prestige in terms of difficulty and time to obtain.

Also GW2 HOM would be a carbon copy of what you have in the GW1 HOM right now minus the rainbow phoenix.

Something along those lines, yes. Many players seem to have entirely unrealistic expectations and will be disappointed when the rewards are finally announced.

I'd like to see an entire bonus weapons set, though (like the preorder bonus items of GW).

Yeah...overall I could see this happening. It's supposed to be a little fun for a while, but by no means having any real impact.

The only thing would be Resilience: certainly won't be "highest tier of prestige". It's not all that hard to get in GW1, and they need to make prestige armor worth getting for all the lvl xxx people. It will be more like the collector armor in pre...nice, but quickly outdated.

Aint going to happen. They will probably unlock some /bonus weapon that are "okay" for the first few stages of GW2.

No. Probably a new starter armour skin. Or perhaps actual physical things such as tattoos on your character. Nothing that puts you ahead of those who didnt play GW1.

I'd like to think thatstarters and /bonus weapoons doesn't count. anyway, I've heard that you don't start at the HOM.

I expect HOM to be the GW2's ancension though so what I think is entirely valid.

I'm being realisitic, anet probablym doesn't want to do 1 little thing for each thing that goes in the HOM it's wasteful and not cost effective.

That's because free stuff can only possibly be vanity items. Anything else would give an unfair advantage to those who played GW:1.

It'll prolly be most of that stuff, besides the max armor...prolly some /bonus weapons too. It's going to be vanity anyway, I don't expect anything mouth droppingly awesome.

I do want a divine aura tho

I'm sure every trophy will be rewarded, there will be enough goodies so people won't feel gypped out of thousands of hours of play. However no in game advantage will be given to those veteran players over the new GW2 players.
By the GW2 being a sequel and not really a complete do over, there may be some things worth having from an aesthetic view point that will send the GW2 only players into QQ mode, but as long as all players start off at the same level in pve and the pvp is balanced there will be no legitimate issue about in game advantages. There will also be QQ from the GW1 players who didn't bother with their hall and don't want to see those that did with any rewards. I think most players will be pleased overall. But the forums will be jumping with extremist views no matter what.

they're gonna be amazing!!!!

they want to make sure ppl who currently play gw1 to have an incentive to buy gw2
also anet wants gw2 newcommers to be jealous of the ppl that have it, so they'll buy gw1 to get the stuffs
sooo moar $$$$ for anet

$$$$$ is good

not time effective or cost effective as i said, it takes money and time to develop every single reward for every single thing in the HOM

How about uniquely designed armour that scales as you level up like heroes have when they level up. That way it won't put a player ahead of other characters and at a cut-off level(maybe 20 like original GW or the level where leveling up further yields little to no more bonuses) it will achieve the max armour(e.g. 60 for casters).

So in the end the armour will still be on par with anything else.

Thats why they put those things in there in the first place. Also from a development side its childs play to make a pointer from each trophy to a reward. They may even go so far as to recognize the difference between a r8 and a r12 who knows?

New players would still have to buy their armour while the GW1 Veterans automaticly have it, cost free. Since they have already said GW2 will be more equipment based, armour will probably be a big deal.

my guess?

a title.

it grants ZOMGWOWNESS for those "veterans" of Guild Wars, but has no impact whatsoever on gameplay. The title name: Legendary Conquerer (lol) of Tyria

i got my hall full already. now i just have to wait. but no, i am not getting my hopes set on an emote, and not even a weapon (or even more laughable was the idea of an entire weaponset). Its going to be about looks.

my next guess will be a mini of you. it will be totally exclusive (if you can call it that with all of the armors floating about) to you, and honestly, who the hell would want a mini you?

Ladies and Gentlemen, be ready to be disappointed.

ya i agree on most of them as for max armor/weapons. But i believe that the humans will not start at the HOM and they will get there later. But remember the quote "character in Guild Wars 2 will be able to physically access the hall and "walk out looking like a bad-ass.""

I want players to get maybe a trophy they can show in their guild hall or on their armor (such aas a medal) or a cutsomized minipet/weapon. I don't think it's fair that the old-school players can start the game out "WTS: Miniautre Balthazer YOU CAN ONLY GET IT IF U WERE r6KAOBD! 100k+5000 Dyes!" I loved the idea of GW2 for the fact that those that started late (i haventr even palyed fofr 2 years yet) can start over! Instead of rejoining an MMO, poor, unwanted in PvP(unranked), and having to play mannnny hours just to save up for something someone got for free, like a birthday present.

there would also be no point in trying to sell any of that stuff because pretty much everyone will be broke for quite a while.

Um. I can already now in GW1 create an unlimited amount of decent if not stellar max stat weapons just by typing one word, and ANet doesn't consider it to be an unfair advantage over those who can't. How should GW2 be any different?

Firstly. Nobody would have that kind of money to buy such items with at the start of a whole new game.

Second. It has been stated that yuo can fill the HoM at any time after gw2 release so those gw2 only players could always purchase the origional gw and then fill a HoM.

We're sorry that you feel you need the advantage over new players in the new game due to what you did in the old game. They always said the rewards would be cosmetic.

its also been stated that the HOM will not give a adavantage in GW2 which most likey means that they will be customized items or something. Also stated that after GW2 goes live that at some point the offers for the HOM will no longer be valid, but that could mean 1-2 years later or something.

Don't forget that most of these are just theories that we are putting togeather.

You dont care about the stats but you dont like that the item which you might like will have stats only useable for about "10 hours"? say they do give a new skin of armor on the basic level of starter armour...since you dont care about that stats you could just keep it when you get some new armour.

Well in a recent developer update about the HoM they said that the HoM will have a char mode and an account mode and that your new chars in GW2 can each get all the benefits from the HoM.
I expect skins and nothing more, but hey, that's cool with me.

yep that's it in a nutshell and what if you get a really cool looking armor, complete with wings and an halo, a giant glowing sword with a shield of light which a limited amount of people that plays can ever get with crappy stats , would you rather use that or something that looks rather drab compared to it simply because it's superior in stats and therefore, better for GW2's endgame?

lol. as long the skin looks good and the weapons function like max what's the point in having "Unique" if you can't kill a mergoyle with it without using any skills?

I challenge people to go through the game using only starter weapons and armor

Yes i would use the "drab" armour. For two reasons - not wanting to look like a lightbulb with wings and wanting to actually play Guild Wars 2 rather than Fashion Wars. Walking into an end game area with basic starter level armour just because you want to look good is not recommended.

I wouldn't be suprised if anet added one of the things alot of people wanted in gw. town Clothes/accessories. Purely cosmetic items.
