To be totally honest.

To all the players of Guild Wars, why are you complaining? You're still playing this game - so you obviously enjoy it. Unless you're a masochist, you're having fun.
Too many people crying about constant skill changes, which are necessary. The game is fairly easy, although it would be nice if my W/E Frenzy+wards for defense build was a little better in PvE.
You're not paying a monthly fee for a pretty decent game.
So, y'know - chill out. Also Linsey is pretty cool for... still working on the GW team (which is probably composed of group of people enough to count on one hand) And Regina for bitching about us on her blog. Good read that.
LOL STUPID POST
tl;dr version, stop crying. inb4 lock.

I paid money for this game after being promised a "free" online roleplaying game. Most industry standards for roleplaying games agree that there is a requirement for the provision of new and updated content with time, regardless of the company's decision to charge money on a monthly basis or not.
I refuse to behave as though Anet is doing me a great favour by allowing me to play their game after having purchased legitimately, copies of their game.
In summation, if you don't have a problem, good for you. Move over for the ones who do.

You paid for a game, you have your game. It says free online play with no fees AKA free servers. Pretty sure it doesn't say "SUP FREE CONTENT."

Negativity is cool. You'll never see cool kids be enthusiastic about anything.
As to why they apparently think ridiculous melodrama is cool I don't know, though.

There are no industry standards for RPGs. There aren't even standards for what defines an RPG.

Right, I'm totally trolling when I'm telling people like you to calm down and play your videogame. Most "industry standards" for online RPGs = online fee.
Game was fun, it's meant to be fun. So many people cry because the game wasn't what it used to be, that's because after a few years things tend to get old. Find something else and move on or shut up.

At the risk of incurring a ban because I disagree with a mod, I'd like to point out that I said "online roleplaying game", and you will find that the consensus implies that dynamic and updated online content is part of what makes it "online".

And I make complaints because 99% of the playerbase has too little understanding of the development of the game to do it.

Only thing I don't like is the change made to Vow of Strenght. Just look at it, WHY
Savio
What makes a game "online" is that you connect to a server through the Internet, requiring you to be online. Saying "other RPGs have this, so GW should have it" isn't a good argument, as GW isn't supposed to be like the other RPGs.

Avarre: These kind of issues should be handled through PM.

Let's talk more about how superb GW is ...
... so that we don't have to play it.

I agree 110% with the OP. I wish more people just had fun and played the game too..

Everyone always mentions this "New Content" that is in "other" online RPGs. I have played a few online RPGs and I can only think of one addition (other than bug fix/balance fix) in one game that was free.
Anarchy online added an entire new zone. I have also played Dark age of camelot for 2 years and they never added any real content outside of expansions (expansions you payed more for). I played WOW for a year and never saw any new content there either.
So if you are going to claim that other online RPGs provide free updates, please provide some examples.

Although I do like reading a lot of the QQ threads, it gives me something to do at work
I am really looking forward to the Nov. 13th update. There will be a flurry of different threads.
Nov 13th Update disapointment!!!!!!!
Nov 13th Update SUCKZORSS!!!11!!!!

Thank you so much ANET for the update.
Then the above thread starters will go flame the others in their threads and so on and so on.
And in the end it all boils down to lots of reading entertainment for me

I think that if more games followed Anet's pricing policy (pay upfront and then no monthly fees) but with a better focus on PvE or PvP, people would move on to other games a bit easier. It's a pity that when other games tried it, (Archlord comes to mind) it didn't quite work out for them.

No matter how much we wish for it (/begs santa) the QQing and Trolling won't stop, that's sadly the way things are. Now as for the game getting boring after a while that's natural, if you feel that GW has gotten too old for u then move on, find another game to play. So i agree 100% with ZenRgy and lol Faraaz needs a chill pill.
PS: Keep an eye out for D3 it's gonna be hot (that's for those who are bored with gw)

While as a non-subscription game Guild Wars does not need to have updates, the players do have the right to protest forced updates that make the game worse (stares at Nightfall). Within reason, they should also demand that if the game is updated for the worse that the mistakes are rectified and the game returned to its superior pre-update state.
Discuss.
After nightfall it was clear the two chapters a year model was broken. Are you complaining that the game hasn't degenerated into a big pile of shit of 100 campaigns by now?

Wow, there's a shock. Lies told to players. Oh, wait, this is ArenaNet we're dealing with here, we shouldn't be surprised.
SkekSister
Let's face it 99% of the people who post here have NFI about games development and how much time and money it takes to make even trivial updates to games.
New content? you're having a laugh. If ANet had set out to give anything even close to the amount of content you guys believe is your 'right' they would have gone the way of Flagship Studios a long time ago.
If you had the first clue about the games BUSINESS and yes it's a business, i.e. you must turn profit or die, you'd not be QQing like little kids all the time.

I think some of the posters here are very disparaging. Because they may have grown tired of a game they supposedly liked, they now feel compelled to belittle the game to others who may be interested in playing. Just because the game may have changed for you, why do you feel the need to discourage others from playing?

It's true. Sometimes i feel like i'm one of the only players that really loves Guild Wars. Sure i might disagree with some changes (or things not changed, for that matter), that's a given; in the end i still love the game and have tons of fun playing it.
dont feel no pain

add me to the list. I don't play as much as I used to, but that's because of outside forces like college and work.

O Nuxtofulakas
QQ threads are always fun to read, especially if they follow certain rules:
1. The poster says he quits GW right now
2. The poster says he has played games X, Y, Z and all are better than GW
3. The poster says X skill nerf will destroy game economy, the price of ecto will skyrocket, the game is doomed and PVE is dead
more QQ threads plz

Wanted to make thread like this few days ago..but at the end of the day...whats the point...there will always be someone who will complain just because he doesnt have anything smarter to do in life.
My opinion: gw is is great game, always fun to do something there, test things or just kill other guys in pvp.
Have tried wow, and d&d online (trials)...deleted them pretty fast...
So wont tell you to stop qqing, but at least think before u do.
enjoy the game..thats why it is a game

I still find GW to be an enjoyable and relaxing pastime. Plus, anet has obviously added plenty of new content since prophecies, and is still actively managing the game with skill updates, etc.
Looking forward to GW2.
