only 13 year olds play PvE
Soflaz
I'll tell you I'm between the ages of 1-100 years old and I really like PVE a lot its how I make money and I enjoy the role playing sense of it.
However.... I'm also rank 5

I am 18, and use PvP mostly for my own personal entertianment at the expense of my team. Especially if I'm on some overexcited team that thinks their world will fall apart if they don't get 25 faction.
Lady Frost Bite
my guild ranges from age 10-36(i'm 23 and a girl) and most if not all of us do both pvp and pve depending on whats going on and how many people we have on. if we have 8 then we will do a GvG if we don't then we will help a guildie through a mission or do some TA. I think the main problem between pve and pvp is simple..pvpers don't like pvers(sp)because alot of pvers come to tombs and think that they are soo great cause they can use a max damage gold axe, staff, wand or whatever and pvers don't like pvpers cause pvper always flash there rank(if they have one)and don't answer alot of questions and sometimes are just rude.IMO pvp toons are a bit better than pve toons just because if you have enough faction you can unlock runes and get weapon grips or bow strings and other things like that without haveing to save a bunch of money. now pve toons are better than pvp toons because pve toons can kill a boss and maybe get a kick-ass weapon that pvp can't. As far as one being better than the other i think it depends on what you want to play. but don't rule one out unless you've tried it and you can't always count on your first experance of one or the other so you should try it several times incase your first time around wasn't pleasent for you(ie bad pug or jackass leader)

I'm 30 and I know people ranging from 15 to 58 that love PVE, so really your leader is wrong. I do play PVP too and to be quite honest some of the behavior in Tombs leads me to belive the average age in pvp is quite low. My 2 cents cheers

I love PvE, I will play PvP from time to time for a change. I will not play Tombs without a Guild Group. Just to make it clear I have 3 Fame, not a Rank of 3 but three whole fame to my name. I have also earned about 20,000 faction playing the other types of PvP. I earned over 1000 Faction just playing in the Snowball fights. And I didn't return home from Christmas until December 31st. So I'm not completely without PvP skill.
The skill (player) to play PvE is not the same as needed to play PvP. Both present a challenge which I enjoy. I pick and chose which I will play depending on my stress level, mood and time available.
To the OP: I suggest you look into finding a new guild. One with a more tactful leader.
dont feel no pain
I'm 15 i love pve , and making farming builds , and yes i do pvp too i'm rank 4 (i know it sucks) and my guild leader is 13 and is rank 7 , you are sooooo wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *pokes*

I guess that i'm the equivalent of three 13 year olds then, because I play only PvE. =\

I'm 24, and I play both aspects of the game. I paid the money for the game, so I'd like to get my money's worth.
I will say this: I've found that there are more jerks in PvE than in PvP. There are elitist snobs in both parts of the game, but those in PvE seem to be more pigheaded, and there seem to be more of them as well.

My daughter is older than the guy who said that.
I play PvE exclusively at this time.

In some ways, the OP is completely correct. Example, Pre Searing Ascalon City, American discrict 1. I am so sick of all those stupid 13 year olds that set up TS channels just to chat, and they somehow believe that this game is like RL, because they all seem to want to have boyfriends or girlfriends. I am fed up them, honestly.
On the other hand, I believe that age doesn't rescrict skill whatsoever in this game. There are a lot of younger players that are no doubt better than me at both PvE and PvP.
I enjoy both PvE and PvP very much, as long as I am as far away from Pre Searing as possible.

Ignore that fool. There are some people who don't care about anything but mass fighting, while others are structured and enjoy quests and well-rounded aspects that make GW a MMORPG in ways, and not a mindless killing game. Tell him to keep his ideas to himself. I'm 12, and I'm a main PvE-er, but that's because I prefer quests and lore to pointless killing. I do arenas once in a while, but I'm not serious on PvP. Not to mention I've done roleplaying in text and other games, so I'm used to such.
---
1) PvE is enjoyable, others just have different tastes. Doesn't mean he can complain about it.
2) I just ignore the people who try to treat online games like reality - they either lack social lives or are a bit wrong in the head.
3) I don't care what age people are when they play MMORPGs - as long as they know how to not act like a fool (spamming, etc) and don't do the boy/girlfriend-ish things. I started my first MMORPG, RuneScape, when I was 8 or 9. I can barely remember any "immature" act committed during that time. It's also so heartwarming when a friend around your age gets one of their young siblings (10 and under) interested in the MMORPG you two play. It's happened to me before, I find it so heartwarming to help the young people with a good start.

Oh dear, where to start with this one??? Well the guy was obviously wrong since there are so many of us (myself included) over 20 who prefer (exclusively or not) PvE over PvP.
So where are the majority of the twats? Good question, I only ever do co-op (PvE) and PvP with friends and guildies because I've had so many BAD experiences taking others along. I used to help and run for free, but now I rarely do either because I've had so many people complain or just generally behave in an unpleasent manner. I dropped out of one Droks run because of the behaviour of two team members (after numerous warnings) and they map back to Beacon's telling them I scammed! At which point the two other runners who were there laughed their heads off because those two had quit the "paying party" to get a freebie. I grabbed the other 3 who had been the party and did the run for them. When I came back to Beacon's the two individuals concerned were still looking for a lift.
As for PvP sometimes you would think it is the end of the world to so much as discuss ANYTHING with someone under Rank 5. Or the PvP mainly players who won't allow you in their PvE co-op team because you aren't Rank 5.
There is no age limit for PvE (or PvP for that matter), and there is no age limit on stupidity.

I'm 21 and haven't touched PvP much. I have never been into the hardcore gaming scene, whether it involves guilds, clans or whatever. Reasons:
-I'd have to practice. No thanks, I play to unwind. If I spend time practicing something, it's going to be music, not a video game.
-I'd probably have to play matches when I don't feel like it. Again, no thanks, I don't want playing to be a burden for me.
-I'd face a lot of uptight, uber-competitive people, although certainly not everyone in PvP is like that. I'll also admit that there are probably less stupid people in organized GvG than in PvE.

I play pve once a week w/a friend of mine on lan, but since he was on vacation over the holidays, I hung out in snowball arena for a couple days and had a blast.
it all depends on who your playing with.
I just don't see myself getting into the pvp scene, though.
seems like kind of a pain in the ass.
just worry about what you like, not what everybody else likes --- it's your time, not theirs.
Ultimate_Gaara
Eh, PvE is ok, the only problem is the same as 90% of all games, replay value... or rather lack of it.
eom
actually, I'd think this would stack up pretty well as far as replayability because of all the skills and class combos.
don't remember ever replaying a game, though, so it doesn't much matter to me, personally.

Im am 35 and only started playing bcos a few of my also 30 sumthin mates roped me into playing, and now i love it...i only play pve , i have been turned off pvp mainly from reading the horror stories bout the crap attitudes that pvp'ers seem to have, tho since observer mode i have watched a few gvg games n they look kinda fun..
Alas the guys who roped me into playing had already been playing a few mths b4 i began and now nealry all of them hardly ever play anymore and i miss questing and such with them so............if there are any guilds out there who play for fun n dont take themselves too seriously how bout a invite

Even tough PvP can be enjoyable, I prefer to play PvE. The only interacting I need is guild chat

i am 56 years old and i enjoy PVE and PVP and in the 11th grade.

I'm old..... and I enjoy PvE, so much so that abhor that people find ways to exploit the snot out of it just so they can rush through thier 20th character for the sake of PvP.
Vampyre
I'm 33 and ALL I play is PVE.. and the rest of my guild does as well (be it we only have 3 people, but still all the same age range, and we do it PVE)
Ipse_Dixit
I am older than 13 and I play PvE more than PvP... I tend to do that because IWAY groups don't typically use health draining mesmers, and I hate pick-up groups in PvP, because good ones are hard to come by. Plus, PvE is an easy way to unlock skills for PvP. I don't see why people have trouble playing both quite honestly.
TheMadKingGeorge
what happend was he got loast in pre searing got killed by charr and dosnt want to go back to pve he mustnt have that many items if hes never played pve
The undead Mesmer
that doesnt make sense george annyways dont let this thread die
My leader has a new theory now only noobs play PvE ugh i really dont like him at all -_-

Well, to the OP, tell me for him stop looking at the minority of complainers/elitists who shun others/whatever small group he's pushing against, and look at the others. There's a wide world out there.
Even the adolescents can be mature, you know. I'm 14, and count the ones above me, too. They act well enough, don't they?

How is this thread still going? It's not like a silly assertion like that deserves five pages... After all, the statement "only thirteen year olds play PvE" is completely and utterly falsifiable. Let's break it down:
I play PvE. Now, according to the above statement, I must be thirteen years old. I am not thirteen years old. Therefore the above statement is incorrect. poof! That's a little thing I call logic.
The OP's guild leader was clearly an asshole and he should definately get out of that guild RIGHT NOW.

Can't we just lock this thread and tell the OP to use the search feature?
This topic pops up every few days - everyone has to have their own 150 post long "PvE vs PvP" thread. Just seems to me like this one is the most pointless of them all :P

Now this tale I'm about to tell you guys is a true story with a moral attached to it. See if you can figure it out. So sit back, grab a snack, listen to the wondrous story telling of chris_nin00 *Story time* Once upon a time, there was a boy named chris_nin00. People called him Chris because they don't want to call him a 'ninny' or a 00 agent. He thought very highly of himself and always strived for perfection. Today however he wanted to beat a kid up. Yes, you read right. He wanted to beat a kid up. He was so happy walking along the sidewalk of the park. You want to know why kids? *You nod your head furiously while someone in the back screams, "eeee-YEA--UH!"* His 14th birthday had just passed and he got lots of good and fun things from friends and family. He got underwear, boxers, movies, and games, big model toy sets and a remote controlled plane. But he can recall, his most favorite gift of all!!! Chris breaks in to song... "Yu-gi-oh! I'm gonna master the cards Gonna use the heart of the cards..." On and on he went singing. Until... "I'll challenge you pipsqueak!" squeals a 9-year-old looking boy, "Yu-gi-oh! Right here right now!" "It was one of my little brother's friends," thought Chris, "Now's my chance to beat someone up easily... with my Yu-Gi-Oh cards!" Chris thought this was going to be easy. Think again Chris. Think again. "I'll start off by summoning, BLUE-EYES-WHITE-DRAGON!!!" Yells the boy. Blue light flashed everywhere, a roar was heard, and soon Chris was on the ground shocked. A big dragon stood in front of Chris. "Your move," says the boy, forebodingly. Chris gets back up and brushes the dust off. "I can handle this," Chris says to himself, "He's just a little boy" *Battle scene* Blah *End Battle Scene* The 9 year old screams with delight as he takes Chris's Dark Magician Card. "See you later sucker!" smirks the boy as he walks away. The shock on Chris is immense. "I think there is a moral to this," says Chris, "... I don't get it"... *End Story time* Did you kids like my story telling? The moral of the story is... I think you are smart enough to infere from it my young ones. Hint: The Guild leader was Chris! Not me, but Chris in the story! I hope that lightens up a few things. |
Well.. I'm not 13, and I pve. I started out doing pve with my ele/necro, then started pvp and found out eles are worse (in my opinion) than other classes in comp arenas than they are in pve missions (no offense to any elementalists out there.) Then I started my pve mesmer and found out PvP was more fun since mesmers are worse (in my opinion) in pve than in pvp. Well.. Then I started my warrior, and found out that farming is kind of fun (just started farming spider in fissure a week ago.. Hurray for pointless obsidian rocks!) And I'm now also playing a monk and am going to try to make up a new build that can solo Hell's Precipice or whatever that place is! I know it can be done!
But I still do PvP when we don't have favor.. Otherwise there is nothing to do but talk to strangers.
By the way, I deleted my mesmer so I could have a spot for my monk and still have a slot for a pvp character.. Can't wait for chapter 2 so I will have more space for characters!

This game was designed around PvP. Period. Fortunately, the PvE part is quite good also and I find it rather fun, so I do both.
I think most of the PvE players aren't necessarily 13 (though I think the majority are in their teens), but that they'd rather be playing WoW if it were free.
If you're *only* into PvE, I think you're probably playing the wrong game.
