Chief Odoacer
My first character was a male Warrior/monk named Chief Odoacer and he was my main character for the better part of 2 years. When I first started off in pre i was unimpressed by the warrior skills since they did not do as much damage as the smiting skills provided by my monk secondary. So I progressed through Prophecies gleefully rushing to the skill trainer in every new town i visited to check if there were any new smiting skills i could purchase. Imagine my expression when i found the azure shadow boss in the shiverpeaks that could give me an elite smiting skill. It was'nt until the Ring of Fire islands that someone finally critisized my build and showed me a viable alternative consisting of warrior skills that could maximize my potential. I continued with that character as my main and have a few max titles on him.

Other notes: Wishing for the weapons to repay a good friend, Ag Ami
My first GW character would be a warrior named Mai Akai, i started some time in factions, which is still the campaign i like most for starting new characters (fast leveling =P ) at that time i was still new to the game and had no clue about most of the game mechanics and i dont even have enough money to get a set of 1k armor.
Luckily my friend, Ag Ami, who started a bit earlier decided to help me out a lot, patiently teaching me about the game as well as answering my nubby questions. He even decided to forgo buying the weapon set that he liked just to gear me up.
Right now i still use my warrior a lot for dungeons as well as faction farming, i had always wanted to repay him (Ag Ami) in some way for spending so much time and effort in helping me out at the start to the extent of sacrificing the weapons he liked, but i am kinda poor in gw and couldnt really afford nice enough stuff...
I know he like translucent looking/crystal like weapons so i though that this might be a chance to repay him (xmas is about giving ^^ ) , so i decided to reply to this give away thread, to wish for the eternal set not for myself, but for my friend, Ag Ami.
If i somehow win the items i hope that it could be delivered to him directly so i could give him a surprise! (we could talk thru PM and i'll find some way to make sure he is on during the planned time =P )

Ahh I bought the game the week it came out. Me and my buddies played it pretty well. So my first character was a Warrior. His name was B A R S unfortunately i don't still have him. I leveled him to about 15 or so then he got deleted for a need of space.
Ramod
My first character was a ranger. Ramod Maxes, also my forum name. I started out with my irl housemate who got me Guild Wars Factions for Christmas. I played it for a few days and decided to get Guild Wars Prophecies myself. I remember when we got into our first guild, the guild leader gave us each 20 platinum, we never seen so much gold ever as you know in prophecies it takes awhile to gain level/gold. We then got this so called "run" to Droknar's Forge to get our first armor. It was great...I also went out to charm a wolf. I still have that character till this day, well now he has a bit better armor
.

Wow, never thought I'd be even thinking about my first character again. "His name was Robert Paulson, his name was Robert Paulson" Nah not realy, but hey, they're both dead, right? He was "Ashe Crowthorne", a male warrior, and as green as me when he started his journey through Nightfall. I thought the classic wammo might be the best way to start exploring a new game, and rightly so: OMG mending was sooo cool. It makes red bars go up... Now thats what I'm talking about ;-) Anyway, everything went ok-ish, untill I died at every mob in Kourna. WTF? Oh, it might help getting better armor. 50AR Istani armor just doesn't cut it anymore, lol. Anyway, he eventualy made it past "The Drought" (gawd knows how), and settled in Chantry, doing some smite runs when I was bored of playing my new and improved characters. I eventualy decided he's rather fugly, and replaced his character slot with a much prettier female version, which now also is settled in chantry. (amoung other places) Thats about it. RIP Ashe.
AnonTerror
First character is Anon Terror, a ranger that I still have (and have most of my hours accumulated on) and play every time I get on Guild Wars. PvE sucks and out of the 700 hours alone I've spent on Terror I have yet to complete Nightfall or EOTN.
Srak Scream
I was a little late getting around to the game, about 4 months after launch, a buddy of mine introduced me to it while at a basketball tourny he had it on his laptop. I was hooked from day one. Couldn't get enough of Pre-Searing to start with. When it came time to make my first character there was absolutely no question it was going to be a Necromancer. I just loved the look and feel of the profession and the mythology around it. The idea of having my own undead army fascinated me along with stealing my opponents health was very satisfying.
My first big challenge was what to name him? I had no idea what i was going to do, I wanted it to be simple but sleek. No idea how but it just came to me. What do people do when they see something terrifying? They scream of course. I decided that was to be my characters last name. But what would his first name be? I love the idea and of the first and last name starting with the same first letter so the name would roll off of the toungue. So i knew it would start with an 'S' but I wanted something nobody had ever heard of before. Not "sam" or "steven" but something very unique that everyone would eventually know me by. Somehow i forged a new name that all my buddies would come to know me by. Srak.
Unique eh? I got a lot of weird looks from my personal friends to start but Srak Scream just seemed to be a match made in heaven for my tall, thin, but very scary Necro. From day one in Pre when i decided to go Necro/Ele (due to the fact i also wanted to use meteor shower eventually because i had seen its awesome mob-smashing power in PvE) I loved spamming flare (lol i know) and vamp gaze to both burn and steal health from all my enemies. I loved going it alone to start with and have come full circle since my first days and I now know the importance of having not only good teammates but teammates that you have chemistry with. Both in PvE and PvP communication and reaction as a team is vital. I learned this while getting rolled many times going it alone on my Necro.
After a while when factions came out it was just natural for me to continue my dominance with him and not start a new character. Even with Srak Scream being a Necro and having no speed boosts or anything of the sort. I loved exploring the remote areas of tyria with him. One night in particular I remember exploring in the Maguuma Jungle. I was still by all means a noob at this point, but the game was incredibly fun for me. I loved the sense of adventure I got out of it. Well that night in Maguuma I stumbled upon something. Something that is a well known fact by most people now. this is before I knew of this site or any others that help you along so I was doing all the discovering on my own at this point. I found a shrine to Grenth (my idol at this point in the game) and I loved taking screen shots at this point. So naturally i felt I needed to kneel to this god of the Necromancers. Magically at the time we had favor so it all worked out. I keeled to take a screen shot and magically a ghost comes out to meet me. I was stunned to find this Avatar of Grenth coming out to speak to me. I used this blessing from the Avatar to help me get through the rest of the Jungle that night. I was so satisfied after my night of exploring. That has always been my favorite part about Guild Wars, whether I get online for 15 minutes or 6 hours I felt like I accomplished something when I get off.
Sadly things didnt end with Srak Scream quite like I planned. One night after the release of nightfall (before GW:EN was announced) I was PvPing with some of my personal friends and I needed to reroll another profession. For some reason I needed to do this quickly, it may have been one open spot on an HoH team or something but I proceded to delete Srak Scream. Immediately after it happened I was stunned. My heart sank. Had I lost 1000 hours of my time? Had I lost all the questing, gold, and time I invested in my main PvE character? Had I destroyed my pride and joy of the game? I was devastated and proceeded to not play the game for 3 months and had no desire to play again. I felt sick whenever I thought about it.
Eventually I found my way back. I had gotten everything out of Srak Scream i could have imagined. I made it through two campaigns with him, unlocked all Necro skills from all 3 campaigns, and capped many elites from other professions. His name spawned all of my other characters names. All my PvE characters have Srak as the first name and the last name is another 'S' word that is related to that profession.
Srak Spear
Srak Scythe
Srak Smite
etc.
The one regret I have with Srak Scream is that I was never able to get him a hall of monuments. His hall would have been my grandest achievement. His deletion has led me to be a more PvP focused player, feeling that I accomplished all I wanted in PvE with him.
Ive come a long way as a Guild Wars player since first starting Srak Scream over 3 1/2 years ago. I went from spamming flare in Pre-Searing to solo farming underworld with SS. No matter what else I do in Guild Wars I will always be Srak Scream first and foremost.
I will give you one guess what my first Guild Wars 2 character's name will be.....

A Kitten On Fire
I remember my first character, Nexus Twilight, my female monk. Of course I didn't know anything about the game at the time and went /necro because I heard you could summon minions and I liked the thought of that for some reason... But that monk was a mega ninja and still is

Hello!
Aaah, my first character ever... that was such a long time ago. I remember first buying this game in 2006, when I bought it because I was playing with a friend in real life. Coming from a Runescape background, at that time I was heavily into the Ancient Magicks in Runescape, and of course that influenced the way I picked a name for my character. The Barrage spells - the highest level of Ancient Magicks - became my foundation from which I formed the name: SHADOW BARRAGER X! (of course - it didn't tell me anything at all about the person who was playing it, now I realize that it is a generic doesn't-say-anything-about-me kinda name.)
I believe he was first a Monk - a male monk. Clad in the best robes I could find, I went about making him a "solo" character - a Mo/N with some healing spells coupled with summoning deadly minions. My battle plans were heavily thought out: I would first knockdown the opponent with Bane Signet, then send my minions in charging before finishing off with a Deadly Swarm. My friend then had a N/Mo - whom I later realized was much more adept to producing minions and doing all that deadly shiz. Needless to say, I soon deleted that character - but the most memorable time spent on that character was in one of the first few missions - I think Ruins of Surmia - smiting the Charr that ran back and forth with Symbol of Wrath! I remember feeling proud of all those 13s rising up my screen and even boasted that I was the one who did all the work slaying Charr!
Well, that was some nice time spent reminiscing. And I'm back to a monk now - after about 3-4 characters wasted not knowing what I wanted, I'm back to a monk, Victorians Secret. Thankfully because of my time with SHADOW BARRAGER X, I presume!
Have a blessed Christmas!

Hmmm... My 1st character was a female warior named Tifa, "born' in pre-ascalon. The very first days of her life was spent in lovely oldschool ascalon doing all quests availiable there, running with white "crystaline sword" was quite fun at the beggining but after a short time it became really boring and sometimes even annoying. Theres where i decided to proceed with the campain. In fact ascalon after searing was not as hard as i supposed, I have made every mission till LA, where i traveled to Cantha to level up. So i did, now i was ready to travel to the far north of shiverpeaks, land of brave norns , wise asuras and bloody charrs (thats how i have been thinking about it those days). One thing surprises me now. How was I able to beat that expansion without Heroes, elite skill, max armor and with my epic white Crystaline ;P Heres where i have heard about good farming place , which UW was this days, i capped my 1st elite , VWK and started farming. I farmed over 200 ectos but starting getting bored playing warior ,I created my next char, on which i did Legendary Survivor, but thats the other story...
I rly hope you enjoyed the story, sorry about my quite bad english and all mistakes i did.
Thx in advance

Heya. I was introduced to GW by this guy from school who later on became my boyfriend ^^. He showed me basicly every class in GW but there was this one that amazed me the most. It was called dervish. When i first saw it i was like "wow this is so awesome it looks like a grim reaper". The day after, i bought GW nightfall and created my first char, a derv called Valakas rider (tribute to a raid boss from L2). I love my char and i play alot with him, mostly everytime im online ^^. Its my first char and the one i will never ever delete cause it means alot to me. I learned how to play GW using that char and spend lots of happy moments with my bf and my guild mates using that char. U can say im a derv-a-holic ^^

My First Character was a complete bomb.. it was a warrior with red hair in a pony tail.. once i figured out how to leave presearing after about a month, i went into post knowing practically nothing about the game. I was a complete NOOB. I ended up finally saving up enough gold from doing quests (couldn't figure out missions) to get the 15k armor after paying for a run to droks when i didn't know what was there.. i didn't realize there was more than 1 different kind of 15k armor and i bought a crappy one so i started a new char and haven't played my first since! 6 months=no max titles
devil_sheild
My charactar Deveils Sheild began his journey in Ascilon. At the armory he chose his armor to Yellow Dye because he was a Golden Devel Warrior. He battle many wolfs and begs. His most feared nemesis was a level 5 Bison. For many level Devil Sheild was very affraid of this creature. But he had a determanation to destroy him! For this task he decided to use Mesmer secendary skills because they had Conjure phantasm which takes down his foes very quickly.
He ran to the bison and fought it in a ferocious battle, and had to use many healing signets ^^. Unfortunately, upon first attempt, he fell down to the floor dead. But he was determined and now that he fought htebeast and saw that he could damage, it, he was determined to be afraid of it NO LONGER! And on the second try this bison was slain at the hands of Devels Sheild. Buahahaha!! After this it was time to move on to bigger prey! And Devels Shield went to declare war on the toughest beasts in the region!
He traveled far and wide through the mountains in the southern to the Swamp river full of Riverskales! All foes fell to his mighty hammer. Then he came upon a village and reassuer all the villagers that he will save them for further ever beasts invading them! And he clear off the meadows of pigs and riverskales! But slaying this beasts only made him hungry for more formidable prey. So he goes to Wizard FOlley and ask anyone there where is the toughest foes?? It was there he learned about the Charr north of the gate!!
So after reaching the north gate, he tried to enter the gate, but when he tries to go through the gate he could not run to the gate close enough after pushing the switch! It is obvious that the charr fear him so are playing a trick. So he went back and ask how to fight the charr?? They say to head to the Academy.
So this is what golden Dragen Sheild warrior goes and he fights many charr alongside Prince Rurik. Being able to fight alongeside this phenomenal warrior was a great honor for Devels Shield, so he made sure to give his entire Heart into battle. The charr fell swiftly and easily, despite Devels Shield Dire low health during many of the battles. After this battle the gerat wall fell to the charr and A Burning Inferno plagued across the lands.
Seeing the beauty scorched from the lands into a desolate wasteland, killed all of the Villagers near Wizard Folley that Devels Sheild pledged to protect from harm. He could not imagine what it must have been like for those people when he told them he would protect them, and he dissapeared to fight charr and when the battle of charr came to that town, he could not be there to protect them. He felt devastated as if his world had been shattered. Beautiful Ascalon reduced to nothing, all the villagers he once loved and protected dead, abandoned by him. He start doing quests once in a while to kill Grawls and help people around Ascalon.
Then two months later, the 2008 Hallewween event came around, and Devels Sheild found many tonics and witch's brews. He didnt pay them much thought until he realized he could get drunk off of them. Maybe if this items didnt drop for him thigs would have turned out diffrently. But once he realise he could drink them all his problems went away. So currentely Dvels Sheild lives a sad life in ascalon sucking down Witch brews and eggnog, still at level 7 with nothing to live for. He starts doing quests for people around Ascelon less and lesst in favor of self pity and alcoholisem.
For a few days he went to the Armer trader at Ascalon to try to get armor pieces. This interest him to get materials and gold, but whne he has a hard time getting this, he ended up just run around Ascalon in a drunken haze calling people jews for not helping him. Recently Devels Sheild has joined a clan called Warriors Infiniti, however, they do not support his emotional needs enough to help him out with his alcoholism.
Today wenh Devels sheild looks in the mirror. He sees a failure. Sometime he looks at his old armor and sees the Shining Golden Knight who saved all of the southern villagers, but this thout is quickly replaced with Disgust at his failure and drunkenness. And now cannot even wear his armor without hateing himself for secceeding to his false visions of his own honor. He now runs around a naked drunk in ascalon calling people noobs and getting kicked out of runs to Lion's arch for bad mannar. Maybe one day Devels Sheild will complete the journy to Lion's Arch and continue his journy, but for now, his destiny is unknonw.

first character hmm? Alright, my first ever character was a ranger named Sky Soma. I started out in pre with him over three years ago and deleted him about two years ago to make room for a mesmer, which i thought i would have more fun playing. Had regretted that decision for a long time since. I had some great times with my ranger. Still remenbered that melandrus stalker that i kept till it was a healthy lvl 20 cat which I thought did good damage even without beast mastery :P ahh i was so naive then lolz. with that ranger, i also joined my first guild of friends that i had know in an multiplayer 2D spaceship game called continuum. They introduced me to this game and thus far have me addicted lol. Ah, also, I'm pretty sure i was the first ranger (with the same name) during the beta's to have capped the elementalist skill Meteor Shower from an ele skill right and used it XD
Nibbit
When I first played GW, I had no clue what I was doing, I had never played any mmo before I began my epic 29 month journey. I chose I ranger cuz my "avatar" had to look like a ninja, and you didnt have assassins back then. My ranger used both a bow and a sword/shield back then, so I could hit people from long and close range. (RANGER) I liked the pre searing a lot, and then, all of a sudden, a destroyed landscape (old ascalon), it stopped me from playing for a week, I got so depressive from it lolol.
But, I picked up the game again, and bravely went throught the icy mountains, the nice weadows of kryta, the paranoid jungle, etc. Joined a guild, learned how to play mmo's in general, etc.
Now 29 months later, im pretty proud of what I've achieved, r5 maxed titles, r8 hero, a nice champ title, and a nice FoW set for all of my pves, all thanks to the ranger that got me going.
My ranger is now a retired pve'er and occasinaly does some charity work in Alliance Battles.

Djinn Effer
My first character's story isn't that great, so I should probably tell another one... But since you asked about the first, I will tell about that one first:
My very first character was a female Necromancer with white hair by the name of Djinn Illuvator -- I tried to make her look like Eve.
The name itself came from a couple things. I've always been very fond of genies and djinns, I really liked the movies Wishmaster -- even though he was very cruel in those. It also sounds like my first name -- Djinn, Jen. So, the pronunciation would be spot on (You can see later I made Djinn Effer - say it out loud, Jennifer). Illuvator is just a name I liked from a book, The Silmarillion.
I was sooo bad... I remember I went through the game, and I looked on the GW websites to see what armors there were, and I wanted Tormented armor soooo bad! So, I played through the game and eventually got to Quarrel Falls and I got my Tormented Armor. Not max of course, but I was really excited at the time, as you might imagine.
Then I went on to doing The Gates of Kryta mission over and over, killing the drakes there because supposedly it was good for getting gold.
Well, funny story actually, this whole thing... I went through the game thinking it was sooo hard and I sucked so bad, and everyone around me was just so much better than me... Then one day I was typing to someone and accidentally hit "h" and I found out about attribute points --- I was level 19. Yes, I made it to level 19, thinking the game was super hard, before I figured out attribute points existed! And so, of course I was really excited about that... Everyone in the guild I was in at the time of course laughed at me and wondered how I didn't know.
Just prior to figuring out about attribute points someone had shown me that they farmed the skale outside of The Gates of Kryta, and killed them all with one spell - Meteor Shower. So, I figured "that must be it!" So, I got that spell. He was a Necromancer too, so I figured that must be the thing to do. Of course, I didn't know what anything did yet at this point. So, I get the spell and die horribly. I don't understand why it's doing so little damage when his wiped out all the monsters in seconds. Little did I know... :P
Now, later I ended up going from Djinn names to Maliclot names, which are a mixture of Malice and Lancelot. Also sounds a lot like my last name... Anyways!

Jenipfizer Maliclot (warrior) was my very first character to hold the "Maliclot" name, though all except one character ever since has held that last name. The name really just came from mine but just all strange and indistinguishable. My original Warrior's name was Djinn Twdneanc way way way long ago, my new Warrior's inspiration was actually the first Female Warrior that got full Fissure, she's an exact replica except a slightly less light skin tone. She eventually replaced my first Warrior entirely, in terms of the whole RP aspect of it.. She was engaged to a Warrior named Tank Windwalker which I had been friends with since release.

Neato Maliclot (Monk) was my second ever character to hold the "Maliclot" name, infact she also was the first character to hold the "Neato" name which I am now known by, unfortunately. It was initially created because I wanted to make a new Monk but couldn't think of a name for the life of me, so I was just like "alright.. I guess I'll just use my Warrior's last name so I don't have to figure out a new last name" then I ended up just being like.. "hm.. neato!" and thats what its named turned out being, lol. For a very long time Neato was my favorite character, eventually she became less favored as I grew tired of Monking but there's still a ton of history behind her, enough in fact that I would never delete her just for that. Neato was engaged to, and eventually married Deripfi Maliclot (which happened to be another one of Tank Windwalker's characters he made to match my last name) and well, they had a daughter named Spiffy Maliclot (a cute lil Ranger) after some drama they nearly got a divorce but they are still married, though Deripfi quit GW about 3 years ago. And of course, I talk about the roleplay aspect a lot, but... I was never really into roleplaying. It was more of a one day "Our characters should be married" sort of thing, there never was the whole... roleplaying thing. That just didn't happen. We didn't go around using emotes and talking in strange character and acting like the game world was real or anything... We just kinda joked around about things, like y'know... Here's an example: Click here

Next one would be Tiffany Maliclot, my Elementalist. I created her on my now main account when I got the slots from buying Factions even though I already had an Elementalist currently with all the 15k armors, Ember Maliclot. I think she's up there with one of my favorites cause Ele has always been my favorite class to play (havn't really ever been too great at it though), the second character I ever created was I B Bad which was an Ele, I had her for months and months and was the only character I could never delete.. Eventually I gave in and deleted her, only to deeply regret it later. I guess she just seems like a continuation of I B Bad to me, but in all reality she has no real back story. She's sooo cute though!

My new (well, 3 years old now..!) Necromancer, Irtiu Pr Aa. Her name is actually Ancient Egyptian, irtiu pR-Aa meaning Blue Pharaoh, which the Pharaoh thing in Egypt was actually considered more of a “Temple”, if you can understand that. So, Blue Temple, if you've ever heard the whole “My body is my temple” thing - thats kinda where I was going. My very first character was a Necro named Djinn Illuvator, she was a bit taller than normal and had white hair - she is long since deleted but I still have her chest piece (49 armor Tormentor from Quarrel dyed purple), I'd say my most loved character was my Necro that I deleted quite some time ago which I had made only for Putrid Explosion, Imy Ra Msa - she had 15k Bonelace dyed black, then the day after I got the armor for her they nerfed Putrid Explosion, leaving me stumbling around trying to find my place in the world.. *sadface* Irtiu doesn't have too much history like my other characters, I've had her for quite some time though, I've kinda drifted away from playing Necro though sadly.
Anyways, I don't think I have any more characters that really qualify as "first," but, those are pretty much the beginning of my Guild Wars. I was just happy to share!
Oh and good luck to everyone else.

Despondency
Well for my 1st dood most of the time I spent making him took place @ the naming stage. I usually over think my names but this one was just right - Veil of Midnight - my ranger. After that, I pretty much just over thunk all of my names many of which i wish I could rename now. My 1st however is probably one of my favorite names I've come up with for any game to date. I still love the name even now, ~3 years later.
I ended up actually migrating to warrior due to my playstyle though, since killing stuff is always gets me pumped.
Thanks for the opportunity.

Haha my first character was an ele. :P Lord of Elemnts was his name. I remember how amazed I was at the nuking abilities eles had. I ran through the entire game with him, got to the Ring of Fire, realized I didn't even have MS. I remember when triple echo nuking was in. I loved nuking all the stupid lil stone summits midgets in sorrows furnace. He was my favorite character ever.
I've tried to make another ele but it just didn't feel right

Trylo
this is such a cool thread just reading through what some people have to say!
and now, onto my character:
My first character is Trylo Kanai, an elementalist(/ranger). When I first heard about GW in the beta testing time, elementalists just sounded unique. After reading through the original skills, I knew elementalists had it all (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/skill.php, the first site to actually list the skills for you back then). Anyways, my original idea was to use Earth magic, with the nature rituals like Muddy Terrain to create the best snarer with Glyph of Energy and Earthquake. GW had such a mysterious air back then, as many people didnt even know all the skills.
Anyways, some random background info: My first skill cap was Searing Heat (back when it was 25e and caused exhaust :P). My first gold ever is a q8 max damage fire wand (dropped by a lightning drake) which I still have to this day customized and dyed lime green. Trylo's first 15k armor was Kurzick as I am deeply interested in gothic architecture and art, and GW really made it beautiful with the stone forest setting. He also has an elder red crab pet. Trylo still exists to this day, and we share the connection of being made on the same day since I got GW for my birthday (42 months old IIRC)!
thanks for this opportunity and fun read

My first Char was named Slayer Of Spirit, which is currently my main character. He was an assasin... My first mission i had to try out around 20 times, because i could never get past the final boss in Minister Cho's Estate. it drove me temporarily insane. My first Minipet was a Mini Kirin, which is kind of coincidental because the first run ive ever done was zen dajun. my most valuable item ever gotten from a drop:req 9 uninsc perf Plagueborn Sword, perfect. i was so happy i spilt root beer on my keyboard (Bad idea to be drinking root beer while playing GW). My first campain ever beaten on slayer of spirit, Nightfall... One mission that i really love in nightfall is Gate of Pain. Who doesn't love -20 health every time you use a skill? especcially when you use death blossom spam build
My First Pet was a Black Moa. yea, the best pet ever as my first. BLACK MOA FTW!!! j/k. His name was Sorrow. whenever i go henching/heroing, i always bring Sorrow with me, hes dark meat...
I still have Slayer Of Spirit, and Sorrow, and i always thank myself for creating this character, and creating so many good times

My first char was a ranger.
Me and my friend started playing together, we were so noobs that my friend had blinding flash and he thought it makes the char that you inflict it onto will temporarly makes the screen white, so he opened an ele and i a ranger, we went through the pre-searing faily well, and when we got to old ascalon we had so much troubles killing the monsters (we didnt know anything about the henchmens and nor didnt know how to add them), i died my friend died and my pet was still alive. We had so many jokes on how useless rangers are and that their pets cant do anything, so i deleted it and opened an ele. Then after 1.5 years I opened a ranger again, cause i knew what they worth better.
lol.

Wistera Garinwood
My first character is still my main
Wistera Garinwood - my trusty ranger. I started GW VERY late apparently, I have played just over one year (Wist turned 1 around Thanksgiving). I started the game by myself - joined a tiny, inactive guild that was no help and proceeded to work my way through prophecies with the help of hench and pugs. I met some great friends in the ring of fire and have been in their guild ever since (in fact I am now co-guild & alliance leader). It took me 3 months to complete prophecies with Wist and since then she has completed all the games and obtained all the protector titles.
Still being relatively new to the game I still get excited when I find something new. Wist has progressed from a newb ranger to a decent character and I've branched out as well playing an ele, sin, paragon, monk & derv - but I always come back to Wist.

IAmABarbarian
My first character was called Foolicus Maximus, he was originaly a R/Mo because I like the sound of a ranger (before guild wars I hadn't played a game with ranged attacks lol). I remember having just got out of pre-searing and being a total newb, being absolutely amazed that I bought a gold weapon for 2k and being even more amazed at a green axe that someone gave to me. The guy who made me get GW said that he would give me 50k back if I lent him 5k, so I went ahead, but apparently a gargoyle stole the 50k he had made, so I put all my money in my chest incase it got stolen (I know better now lol). I eventually made him a Ranger/Necromancer because I wanted to be a toucher.
Anyways, I still have him and eventually got him a bit further into proph, went to Kaineng Center and bought him some better armor, which he still has now.
Here's a pic

Gorwin
Hi!
First, I come from Poland so I don't speak English very well. I hope you will understand my first character's history.
I am 16 years old and I live in the south of Poland. I spend my free time by playing Guild Wars and learning english (i am not too bad english speaker because of Guild Wars). I love Guild Wars and Mike Oldfield's music. My life isn't cheerful because my best friend (his name was Karol) died year ago in a serious car accident (15 December 2007)... I've met him first time 6 years ago. He knew me better than my parents... It's realy hard to live normally for me... I cry when I think about him... And I'm crying now, when I am writing this text...
----- My first character's history -----
It was two years ago, December 2006. I've bought Guild Wars: Prophecies One Milion Edition. I've created my first character: ranger known as The Blue Gorwin (yes, this nick is silly).
The Blue Gorwin spent a lot of time in Pre Searing. He was enjoying beautiful landscape. He was hunting River Skales.
One day he has met drake. "What a big monster!" thought Gorwin. He took his bow and has killed this drake. It was a great battle. Gorwin was very happy! After that he helped Devona with some things. He went back to Ascalon and went to Ascalon Academy. He helped Prince Rurik with killing Vatlaaw Doomtooth. After searing Gorwin was doing favours for Ambassador Zain. Gorwin helped Captain Calhaan, pushed back the invading Charr army, freed Ascalon captives and helped Prince Rurik in Nolani Academy. Then he shouted: "Shivepeaks are beautiful!". But he wanted to go fast to Kryta. He helped people of Rin with going to Kryta in Borlis Pass and in The Frost Gate. He was crying when Prince Rurik died. Finally, he has arrived to Kryta. He was happy because of that. With Justiciar Hablion he killed undeads and went to Lion's Arch. For next month he stayed at Lion's Arch. Then he did a lot of heroic things in Tyria. After year he has killed Undead Lich. That was a glorious battle. A lot of people shouted: "Gorwin, you are our hero!". Now The Blue Gorwin enjoys Tyria, Cantha and Elona. He wants to buy a good-looking bow and armor. But he hasn't got enough gold to enjoy Guild Wars. Eternal Blade req 9 will end Gorwin's financial problems and give me some joy after my best friend's death.
I hope you understand my english and my deep sadness after my best friend's death in a fatal car accident.
You can give me the greatest joy in my life after Karol's death! If you want to cheer me up - give this Eternal Blade to me. I can guarantee you - i will repay you for that. My life is very hard. The choice is yours.
Best wishes,
Bartek from Poland.

Dr WTF
Well i started playing almost 2 years ago, and i was (and still am a bit) the noobest GW player.
Well ive passed between all kinds of ways to make money (1st was the running : I wth a lvl 20 Ele/Ranger runned to the cristal desert missions for 500g each , i was so noob that my only running skill was a ranger one that only lasted 17 secs and the recharge was 20.
My second was the 55hp that one great friend (Duriel Brazuca) teached me...I only had profecies and didnt understood the 55hp thing , he wasnt pro but at lest he kneew how to kill hydras in HM and after lots of pacience he teached me how to farm hidras in HM, that dont give almost any money but gave the necessary to i get mexed armor for my newly created necro.
3rd -> I rly dunno why but i was wth my necro in ToA and i realy didnt kneew what was UW , Duo run UW , 600Hp , Smiter, when 1 monk lvl 20 asked me into his party and then i sad him that i didnt kneew UW but he said , do u have the skills for the build?yes?! so lets go, ill teach you. At taht time i only had profecies and to kill smites i neded Echo - SV -SV (echo) - then SS.
Because of that , ina few weeks i was excluded from the duo UW runs and got sad.
That time i went to pvp and learned how to be a pro by GvG , TA and mostly RA but i saw that i neded more campaigns to be able to GvG nicely so i bouth them. After a few days of pvp in assassin i remembered the shouts GLF perma , GLF Ursan etc and so i gone to guildwiki to know what was that.
I gone to ToA and Silky blonde teached me what a necro do in UW SC and then i become a SCer and lately and after more than 10 hours vieng youtube videos ive become a all areas perma sin.
Now im a bit rich (50K in storage
) but ive never got a nice drop in more than 50 chests.
Thats my history and i know i dont deserve the E-blade but im happy for telling my history here... hope u enjoyed it

Thats my history and i know i dont deserve the E-blade but im happy for telling my history here... hope u enjoyed it

Cute competition, nice idea
Well, i'll try and keep it brief (with my crappy memory, that can't be hard).
I started playing Guild Wars somewhere in april 2005. Coming from years of FPS-play i was in need of a change, and this free-to-play RPG sounded pretty badass. After reading through the whole manual/lore stuff (up to date one of the only game manuals i have ever read) i decided to play an elementalist because they did enormeous amounts of damage (at least according to the manual) and quickly enough Aurelie Enacthiel was born.
After goofing around in pre-searing to get the basics of being an elementalist down, i headed into the academy and stumbled into Ascalon, destroyed and under Charr siege. It was around that time she joined a guild, [pre]Dynasty Warriors [DW][/pre]. With that, she got quickly dragged into the guild's everlasting hunger for victory, and engaged into combat within the tombs of the primeval kings and our own guild hall. Using the powers of Lighting and later on Smiting (paired with Ether Renewal) she wrecked havoc within enemy ranks and brought home many sigils and a lot of rting points.
But as time went by, her little sister, Arianne Enacthiel, began to claim more and more playtime. Eventually, Aurelie retired and left to enjoy a quiet life in the countryside. Her little sister grew up to be the insane weaponswinging girl she's today (<3 warrior !)

The only remaining screenshot of my first character.

When I first started Guild Wars, I came in as many did: eager-eyed and hungry to make a powerful warrior. I terribly enjoyed the character creation process, I spent many hours deciding on the right hair style, the perfect height, and best facial construction. After I finally decided on what I believed to be the most handsome and ferocious hero Tyria had ever birthed, I stepped into the beautiful world of Pre-Searing Ascalon.
The stark beauty and magnificent vistas that the developers created in Ascalon immediately grabbed my attention and refused to loosen their staunch grasp. In seems somewhat embarrassing in retrospect, but I spent close to a month in Pre. I believed this to be the entire game, and was more than content with it. I equipped my avatar with the best that the Charr would relinquish. I slayed many Skale, countless Devourers, and too many Charr to count. I did my best to put the mischevious Bandits into custody and to right the wrongs dealt to the fair people of Ashford Abbey. It was not till later that I became informed of the game beyond the Searing.
That is the story of the creation of my first character, Donut Tzar. I have no idea where the Donut came from, but I can explain Tzar. At the time I began Guild Wars, I was in the middle of AP European History and we were studying Peter the Great. I decided tzar was an incredibly striking noun and placed it in my character's name.
Thanks for providing this contest and a forum to display affection for our first characters. These various giveaways never cease to impress me with the generosity of some players. Hope this gave you an interesting read and brought back some pleasant memories from your playing start.

Hi, thanks for the giveaway of the Eternal (Christmas Spirit FTW!) <3
Sorry for my bad English (not American, hope you understand it)
I Bought Guild Wars 1 year ago (Got another account 3 years ago but get hack QQ).
I bought Factions first and then I saw Assasins and I get stoned cause' the Assassins are the best character on Guild Wars, then I created my Assassin named: Thanis Shadowkiller, at the start I didn't know how to attack but lol, read forums and know how.
I get survivor 1 doing Kaineng Missiones (yeah Old-School), my first armor I created was the Kurzick Armor 1k (I beat all the entire game with Shing Jea Armor!!) 1 month later I dyed black and love it, then I saved money and created Vabbi Armor (too hard to get it) my 2nd Prof. was Monk using [healing breeze] and [mending], lol.
Well, I beat GW with friends help and other missions with Henchies (died a lot but finally I beat Shiro, with Henchies too eheh).
Got all Protector Titles, Beated Mallyx, Beated Kanaxai, and beated all the games.

Hope you like my history. Happy Holidays.

Very cool and generous opportunity you've got here, tyvm =o)
Kasumi Nightshade, female Assassin:
Although technically not my first character (I spent the first day or two messing around with looks/profs/names etc), Kasumi was my first character that was allowed to live past the 24 hour mark =oP She is an Assassin, which was largely the reason I first purchased Guild Wars: Factions. When I first saw the cover art of the Assassin, I just had to check that stuff out! Before that purchase I was quite anti-mmo, so that cg of Nika/Vizu opened my eyes big time (I try/play alot of mmo's now). Although I continued messing with character creation, Kasumi was my main for some time (around 6 months), and got quite alot done on her, coming very close to achieving Kind Of A Big Deal, which at the time, was errr, kind of a big deal =oP. Then one day, shortly after Nightfall was released, I decided this: She is my favourite character I've made, I want her to be as good as possible, and what's the one thing missing? Legendary Survivor! So after thinking about it for about 2 weeks, I thought "screw it! time to reroll Kasumi!". So goodbye to 4 sets of elite armor, almost all elites capped, loads of skills bought, all 3 campaigns completed etc etc...
It was a tough pill to swallow, but the ultimate goal was there, and the only way to reach it was to reroll. All was well, got rank 2 Survivor just from being sensible and doing any killing and xp quests I could find (this is before all the dwarven boxing/fff bs), then after spending 95k on cap sigs, fighting Jade Brotherhood, game freezes... Reboot, 1 death, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So, needless to say, had to reroll, cause I had my goal and I wasn't going to let the original Kasumi die in vain. At the time 95k was almost all my money, so it was a mega kick in the pants to have wasted it like that, but being a perfectionist, some sacrifices must be made =oP
Rerolled, then got Legendary Survivor in 7 days! None of this fff, dwarven boxing, power levelling, scrolls or any other cheating stuff, just 100% effort, being careful and sensible always, and NEVER, EVER, PuG'ing =oP So regardless of what others think and how many people buy/cheat theirs, Kasumi's max survivor title will always feel fully earned to me, and that's what matters most to me =o)
18 months on, Ultimate Goal achieved... Kasumi Nightshade has trecked all the lands of Guild Wars, destroyed all foes that crossed her path, and now bares the mark of true "i-gotz-no-life-can-i-plz-buy-1"-ness:
God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals!
So to all those players whining their week-old character died so close to r1 Survivor... No offense intended, but get over it... If you want it, go get it! =oD
Ty for reading and best of luck to the winner! =o)

hello
In the beginning of Guildwars My brother got himself GW for his birthday, The first time I saw it I was like, wow thats a nice game, so I asked my brother to make my own character on his account. He said it was okay so I was happy and made my ranger.(it was a male one btw)
named Vreescht Mijn Boog, I started realy realy realy realy ( and so on and on and on) slowly becouse I was so impressed of all the nice spots in pre-searing ascalon, So it took me like a week to get to the big rough world
I charmed a pet ofcourse it was a merlandru stalker, named it vreescht me. Just before that I chose my secondairy proffesion, I picked Mesmer. At the first I didn't know how to use it but eventually it worked gr8, I got myself (wich was realy hard) to grendich courthouse, all with henchies and bought epidemic there, for like 40 gold coins becouse that were the prices in that time. I played myself through the game till I got to Lions Arch, the first realy big city where everyone was spamming to sell his goodies, Ofcourse I tried selling my non-maxed shitty Items but I loved it. Then when I pressed K on my keyboard I saw the skills again and I saw Epidemic again so I thought, hmm what was I doing with it in the first place. And I knew it, was looking for the skill apply poision, So looked on wiki,( yeah that was the very very first time I used wiki
) and saw I could get my skill on the ascalon settlement just above Lions Arch, So I went there with my henchies and I failed the first times ofcourse, becouse all the bigh rough feathered beasts on my way.
at last I made it and got myself a good working skillbar. Then I played for several months until I got to the crystal dessert, at the end of the Crystal dessert I had to kill my doppleganger, wich wasn't like it used to be today, realy easy. It took me like 2-3 days to kill him, but I managed to kill him and I got to the dragons lair, got that mission and finaly I were in Droknars forge, I were realy happy, the first thing I did was shouting to my brother to come look
, he wasn't impressed at all becouse he had like 3 characters further then that silly town. I bought my druids armor, dyed it awful yellow and ran around yelling for a half moon becouse I liked those
.
Well you think that's it but no, In those days you were realy good if you were able to kill galrath, so I went there with a lot of friends and we killed him after a long and good fight. we sat there for a while talking about our achievement.
then just after the summer hollidays my neighbour bought guildwars too, but he was soo lucky he got 2 accounts instead of one, so I got my own account. My ranger got deleted, well I remade it but I didn't want to play the whole start all over again with the same character, so I made a necromancer, but well this is about my first character so I won't talk about this one
**sorry for my, I think worse English I'm from holland and I don't like to look at the grammar^^**
Goodluck with picking the winner

oohh i love storiiiez =]
so0o0,here goes xD
It all started when my brother got GW for xMas 3 years ag0 (or sth xD) and made his necro.. He would spend hours playing and i considered that pretty wierd because he never plays that much.. So, i observed him and i discovered why he would spend so much time palying x]
So.. me, being an ultimate newbie decided to make my own character (yaay =P) I chose the monk path coz i liked the menlo foto (xP) --> jk.. I chose monk path coz my bro told me that monks are helpful and I offered my very own self to help the community of..(bla bla bla =]) and named him "Kokos Hero" (long st0ry =])
His first death was... the first day i created him =] coz as i mentioned be4, i was the ultimate newbie..!
My brother showed me the basics, but those weren't enough =] When my bro left for holidays, kokos lived the pre-life xD He would spend hours giving flowers to gwen, learning what commands like (/laugh) are, being scammed (=]), and watching the pre- landscapes...One, day he also discovered "DYES" =0 and dyed his yucky armor orange xP.. He also chose the necro path as his secondary profession because my fish died that day (=P)..
When he left pre, it was not until the Gates of Kryta mission that discovered that monks are not for using smiting+blood magic (xP) but are good healers..
One day, he disc0vered what 55hp is, from a show-off that wanted to make me think that he is unstoppable(>.>) and using it, he farmed a lot to buy his elite armors, and buy my other chars their armors =P
Since then he's owning GW with his awsome healing (xP) and 55hp farming..
it was so go0d remembering the old dayz =] gl all! =D
oh and happy holidays all =P

Cowie
My first character was a good old warrior. Every game I have played that you can choose your class in I have chose warrior and I thought "why change a good thing right".
Well my friend and I both bought prophecies at the same time and both started together. We played every quest in pre sear completeing every mission while colectiing what we thought were "good weapons" lets say running around with a long sword and ornate buckler is not as appealing to the eyes anymore with all the wonderful skins out there that I had no idea existed lol. We both played our way to level 10 where I then made the decision to have mesmer as my second class (yes took me all the way to level 10). I thought that the game was running out of quests to do very quickly until I accepted my second class and the countdown began to head into the arena (which I had no idea was coming) lol. Needless to say the red team won with ease as we chopped our way through the opposition. I watched the theatrical and was placed in a odd area ad i remeber looking at the map and thinking "this game just hit a whole new level of crazy goodness".
And all that was less then a year ago although Fenrik Dallown's birthday is coming around in may I still play him as my main char remebering all the firsts i had with him in GW and the many more that will inevitably come
Thank you for making this thread I like reminising about how fun it was to play with my first char

Lithril Ashwalker
My First Character was a necromancer back in beta prophecies while i was helping test out guild wars before market. i got lucky that my dad heard from some IBM buddies working in Anet part time. my dad was originally supposed to test it out but he gave it to me since i have most gaming experience.
as time went by i eventually deleted the blue haired freak casue of the emo look and factions had came out by this time so i created an assassin called Lithril Ashwalker . this guy is my MAIN character now and has the most titles. nothing special though, trying to earn a "living" if you will but due to nerfs nearly impossible so i can get FoW Armor. so far not even close to gaining enough money or materials.
i could care less if my friends got the armor or soemthing of the WEWT kind, but if they dont and i get this id give the cash made from the eternal set to them, becasue over the 4 years ive been on GW theyve become my family. hell ive even met them and became a godfather to one of their children!!
i owe them that much for helping me out.

Strife17
my first character was a male ele named daisuke strife, a prophecies character
my friend got me into playing gw since he gave me a spare account and i found it very cool to run around in pre searing flaring all enemies that i run into
also beating the lvl 5 dragon at the lake for the first time is still a fresh memory.. the excitment and feeling of accomplishment was unbelievable.
then my friend decided it was time to go to post searing, and i remember coming to ascalon and thinking "wow i'll never find my way in here, but someday i know where most npc's are, just a matter of time".
he helped me with his lvl 20 character and i had a lvl 8 Ele doing the northern wall, in the middle of the mission he left me alone for dinner and i was surrounded by devourer scorpions all afraid of them to kill my precious ele
after a few missions i reached LA and was so proud to buy first armor that blue one
what else do i remember... oye doing one of the mission in the forest with all those spiders and me getting mad because healing breeze only regened for 3 pips and i wanted more pips but i didn't knew how!! also i had this awesome skill that did a lot of dmg! "meteor shower". but back then i didn't knew what exhaustion was, and didn't knew where it was coming from and i kept getting mad at that energy bar "ffs regenn!!!!"
what i liked most on playing that character the ignorance you play with, each town is a new experience, hoping for a skill trader to find some new skills!!
deleted him though..

Man there truly is a massive amount of posts here. I figure i might as well post my first char's experience too.
I bought GW Proph about 2 years ago, (figured it was first...might as well start there.) right after getting married at 25 years of age, and installed it on my old frankenstein i built from the local thrift store. (450 Ghtz cpu, 256 Mb RAM and a 64 Mb Video Card
) I powered up the beast (which currently sounded like a Cessna Airplane Engine) and launched Guild Wars. I had already red the manuscript that came with the game and decided that i wanted to make a warrior/elementalist. So i sat back and waited, and waited, and waited, for my computer to load all the files. Finally the game booted and i found myself at the bottom of some hill with what looked to be a city wall off to one side. There were people running all over the place and all the armor looked kind of like shiny bluish glass. (for any of you who have ever run GW on a crappy card you know the look i mean!) I tried out the controls (w,a,s,d) and ran around for a bit. I then tried communicating with those around me to ask for help or get some guidance on what a newb like me was to do first. Alas, no one responded and I was highly disappointed. I clicked Menu>Log Off>Yes and stuck Guild Wars in a drawer for the next Year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> Fast Forward one year's time.
Hearing from a friend that GW was truly a fun game to play, and having a new computer, (1.5 Ghtz cpu, 512 RAM, and 256 Card woot!) I decided to give it one more shot, pulled GW off the shelf, and loaded it up once more. Once again waiting for the files to load i grabbed myself a sandwich and waited. I almost choked when the town loaded. What i had thought a year ago had been outside of a city, was actually a town in and of itself. I actually had cool looking armor on (come on i had just started :P) and could now admire the graphics. (somewhat thanks to my card) I immediately started plugging away at quests until I got to the outpost Foibles Fair? (I think thats the one) Where I met my first truly helpful GW Player. He helped explain some basics i had missed, took me through some missions and helped me upgrade my armor. He was pleasant and friendly not to mention helpful and later let me know he was the leader of quite a massive Guild! He invited me and i gladly joined.
After that pre was a breeze with all the help i got, and i moved on to post where my new guildies hooked me up with 5 Plat to get started. I went on to beat Proph, Nightfall, Factions (I know i got them backwards but the Heroes man, the HEROES!) and am now most of the way through EoTN with him. He wears yellow dyed Elite Glad armor with an Elite Kurz helm. I have come far since then and now command about 12 Chars (cant remember exactly how many haha) my newest being a 55 Monk. (Man that's fun!) Years after GW has come out and just before GW2 I am finally starting to get the hang of the game. I have since split off of my Guild to form my own but still keep close ties with my beloved guildies. My first Char ever, Teron Ganor, has now almost completed every game Anet has thrown his way and has basically used the same axe build (except slight variations for an instance or two) through all campaigns. He is my favorite and will never get deleted.
To me he IS GW.
Even if I do not win, Thank you OP for letting me relive this trip down memory lane...it has been truly rewarding !
I bought GW Proph about 2 years ago, (figured it was first...might as well start there.) right after getting married at 25 years of age, and installed it on my old frankenstein i built from the local thrift store. (450 Ghtz cpu, 256 Mb RAM and a 64 Mb Video Card
Nice of you to do a giveaway like this
My first character was a ranger named Intrepid Owl. I made the char when Guild Wars was just Guild Wars. Ah, the good old days, before all of the nerfs :P My ranger was my first character to get elite armor from marhans grotto/granite citadel. Shortly after that, I made a monk. This is where GW got interesting...By the time I was level 20, someone had tipped me on a "solo" farm build with an "invincible monk." Interested, I made the monk a 55, and started farming. This was probably a month or maybe more before they first nerfed drops. So, I had a little bit of time with my insider farm build that really, not many people knew about at the time. When they started nerfing everything...and when factions came out, was when I stopped playing (eh, I just got bored). Now, over 3 years later I am back playing again, and surprised to see the 55 monk still works (EVERYTHING is nerfed though..) And everything is new to me. Heroes (which are waaay better than henchies, gj ANet), party search, title tracks (when I played fame was all there was)...Festival celebrations, tomes, All of the new classes/new skills. It all has made the game a lot better imo (besides all of the farming nerfs...esp where they run away from AoE attacks, ugh) When I started up again, I had like 700k in my storage, and I thought I was rich, so I was giving out money and items left and right. I didn't reallise that most people that had been playing for a while were rich..Probably richer than me in ectos+zkeys. All of this stuff is new to me. My only regret after coming back was selling a req9 healing prayers celestial compass with perfect mods from a zchest for 65e..Just seems kind of low after checking the prices here. I just bought nightfall and am working on 2 chars in it right now. Nightfall is pretty good so far, so I think that I am going to buy the other addons and keep playing. If I won the giveaway, I would honestly probably sell the items so I can be "rich" again and help out my noob guild members on a reg. basis.
