IMO I'd rather keep politics out of a game, especially since a lot of what passes for "political" discussion is really thinly disguised trash talk. I play to get away from the real world. Why bring all this dreary real life crap into GW? Well, whatever floats your boat... I notice that RA and temple of balth seem to be the worst places for this.

Other people in general....Hero/Hench FTW.

People who take the game waaay too seriously.
People who compare GW to Final Fantasy or The Elder Scrolls.
People in Pre-Searing who spend hours spamming "How do I get to Droks?"

People who try to trade minipets with me when I'm trying to SELL mine.

Here's one that happened yesterday that annoyed me.

Agreed to help a friend with a quest (Captured Son in Factions) and was sitting around in Zen Daijun on my Dervish waiting for him to come on, and obviously didn't have a full party with me because yeah, had to be able to add my friend. Some girl kept trying to invite me to her party over and over and I kept rejecting it. She whispered me going "Accept my invitation, I need help!" I replied that I was waiting for someone and had stuff to do, and she got all pissy and started swearing at me.

That happened four separate times yesterday while in Zen Daijun, too. I don't mind people asking for help. What I do mind (very much) is when they won't stop and then cop an attitude when you don't agree to their request. Do people have any manners any longer?

Yeah, in general I find it pretty annoying when people try add me to party the second I zone into a district.

Another separate annoyance. I was in Lion's Arch yesterday and a couple of guys were repeatedly asking in local chat about how you get a tonic. Well, I look in my storage and I had a few left over frosty tonics from Wintersday, so I open up trade with them and give them each a couple for free. Now all week long, every single time I log on I'm getting deluged with everybody and their uncle whispering me begging for free tonics. Geez, no good deed goes unpunished I guess...

I don't mind people asking for help. So long as they've remembered, you know, basic common courtesies. Ask first, be nice about it, and don't act like you're entitled to help - and don't get snotty when you're turned down. If she'd been polite about it I would have told her that if she could wait a half hour I'd help her with whatever it was she needed. But nope, she shot herself in the foot there.

And gah. I can see how that can be annoying. Sometimes I end up with junk that's semi-decent but not usable for me, and I don't want to merch it, so I just give it away to people. Thankfully I've never had THAT happen though.

*Every build doesn't need an elite.
-That is totally true. However, an elite is a super skill. Take Goku off of DBZ without super... saiman or something. Anyways Goku is weaker without super saiman. If your playing factions and your almost to Shiro and have mending on your bar to counter your vampiric weapon? You should know a little more at this point.
However I don't kick and offer him if he wants an elite skill.

*People don't show their builds.
-Infusion Spammer do I need to explain it? Some of the worst skills out there and it works. I was put on ingore list as soon as I pinged it, would you do the same? Yes, you would.

OK.. my turn...

My pet peeve is just the general rudeness I see a lot of the time.. .but I'll admit I've met some great people in the game.. but they don't take it very seriously...and neither do I.

I'm SORRY if I can't help you right now.. I've got other commitments to other people, you don't need to cuss me out for it.

If you're going to invite yourself into my party MULTIPLE times.. at least say Hi! Is common courtesy too much to ask in this game?

By the same token, please don't try to carry on a converstion with me when we're actively fighting a mob... I'm not ignoring you, I'm just busy trying to keep you from getting killed because your talking to me and not fighting.

If you die...too bad... it's a game, get over it. If I die I won't blame you! In fact I'll probably laugh and hope it was an epic death (like ALMOST getting away before getting smoked)

Arrogant winners suck more...

anyone that says players ages<16 are immature.

Nature Vs. Nuture on maturity:
Physically only is your maturity for the nature argument. Nature has nothing to do with how emotionally mature you are.

The household standards you are raised in determine your maturity. If your parents tell you to not laugh at childish things, you are going to end up really mature at an early age. The environment you're raised in = nurture argument.

Therefore. Age doesn't determine how mature you are.

Take Psychology if you're confused.

This is a good one, and from my perspective, applies to many people who are new to the game these days. The art of learning the skills, and developping your tactice is long gone from this game. These days the primary objective for new players is often to join a guild as soon as possible, so that as soon as they get online they can immediately ask for help over Guild Chat.

This often goes hand-in-hand with the above. It's sometimes not good enough to just look at the one thing you're attacking and mash your skillbar as much as you can, and this is precisely where many fall foul and need other people to (essentially) complete missions for them, because they haven't developped the skills they need to play in later stages of the game.

This also relates to Wammos in an especially large way. The classic "Wammo Charge" is a great example of when one player doesn't take note of where the rest of their team is, or what they're doing, and mass-aggros as much as possible.

People come up with all sorts of rediculous claims in PvP...I once had someone in Fort Aspenwood tell me they were going to report me for using 16 Domination Magic and 16 Fast Casting on one bar (I wasn't playing Signet of Illusions at the time). Oddly enough it was an Elementalist who thought trying to kill a Power Block Mesmer was the best use of their time. After several Power Blocks they decided I must be hacking. It's the great immaturity of the PvP side of the game that annoys me, and often stops me playing it.

This is especially stupid because you'll see it even in NM PvE. NM is forgiving of less than ideal builds and equipment; it was designed to be completed by people who haven't mastered the game yet. And besides, what if the player being harrassed doesn't even have the skill that the other guy is demanding he use?
As much as I would like everyone in a PuG to synergise...it's never going to happen. Players will never have the skills you require, and will often defend their "uber pro" build to the hilt. The only aspect of this which bugs me is when the person demanding the builds is completely and utterly wrong, and wont accept it when you try to explain this to them.

Right I got some for this. Screenshots to show examples.

This pees me off no end. Apparently since I use a female char I should respond well to random strangers hitting on me on that basis. No... And then theres a prompt hissy fit when I refuse to provide msn details or cyber. The ones who advertise in all chat looking for an online gf fall in the same category IMO. GW does have a social aspect but that doesnt mean the population of the opposite sex chars (which may not have the same gender player behind them) are there just for your gratification. Zip it up and google porn, theyre just as pixellated!

Yup I dont like beggars much either. You can see them running around outposts going from lvl20 to lvl20, anyone who has titles/nice armor/minis, begging for cash/weapons/minis. Like the majority of the community I earn my cash by playing or farming and if I want something I save up for it then buy it. But beggars think that doesnt apply to them right? Its easier to get someone who has already done the work to give you things for free. Eventually someone gets annoyed and gives them what they want to shut them up. 10mins later...theyre back again begging for more because they now know someone will give them stuff.

This baffles me. The higher end PvPers are so broke they are selling invites. Sad for the guild that devalues their members and sinks so low. Sad for the buyers who will actually pay for a screencap of a shiny cape.

Scammer trying to get people outside to drop their weps so they can steal them. Ffs...

Another scammer. Going into the newbie areas and passing off that this turns into a beetle pet (like moa egg) when its actually an utterly worthless white collector drop. How pathetic can you get just for the sake of scamming online gold?

Thats how pathetic you can get. Preying on the newly post-sear players who would see 200e as a fortune. But oh! You wanted 2 of them? How handy that your mate with the same tag here offers to sell the second one to me for just 10k so I can sell you both? B*£$h please....

I play, or used to, a lot of Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Both are highly modifiable, in most cases mods make the game.

I know you're not pointing fingers,
neither am I when I post the following:

But I think it's funny when you meet people that want specific bars for missions. Take Hell's Precipe, glf: a ranger with winter, not too many melee's because they ball and the fire-imp-creatures love that because the human monks can't handle it.

I've been doing alliance battle lately. What's annoying is at the start when I see the other two teams on our side splitting into the three starting spots. And my team hasn't chosen a spot yet. So the other two teams are not going 4-4, leaving a spot for us. And each spot I go to, the person there tells me to go away.

And during battle I'm at a shrine and it shows the progress bar as we cap it. But everyone leaves me behind like I'm supposed to wait there with one arrow on the progress bar. Sometimes I've had it and just leave the shrine, telling them I won't sit behind like some bench warmer. If they don't want to cap, fine, we'll just get some Balthazar faction by mobbing.

And there's the usual and too common case where I whisper someone advertising a WTS in party search in Kamadan. And the person is afk but didn't put him or herself as afk. Or they whisper back saying they sold the item. 10 minutes later, they're still in party search because they forgot to themselves off of it.

I might have mentioned this one before, I don't remember. But before HFFF was nerfed, at some point I stopped taking leechers with me. I'm trying to type something in team chat and someone goes thru the portal back to the outpost. The loading screen yet again cuts me off. I'm in the outpost, continuing the type. And the same person exits thru the porta back to Melandru's Hope. I'm cut off AGAIN. So I stopped taking people with me for that.

I know what you mean. They're like the people who think they can always use the alliance chat like some 24 hour customer service line, including price check requests. When they get no answer, they complain saying the alliance is negligent.

I have a few pet peeves but they mostly all boil down to the same thing. Here are some of my more current annoyances:

Getting kicked out of a vs farm on a cryer char for not being rank 10 sunspear. (character was rank 8). Sorry, I know I'm maybe the only person that thinks maxing titles is supppper boring, but I just wanted to go mess around with a group of people and maybe get something to drop. Also, CoP does 7 points more damage at rank 10 than at rank 8. So, what exactly is the issue? Considering I've been farming vs's since people first started figuring out it was an option, I think I can handle it.

Some guy called me a noob for popping a ghost on a CoF run. I'll be honest, it was my first cof run, and yes they can be annoying to the 600, but still it wasn't that big of a deal. But the funny part wasn't that he called me a noob, it was that the flashed his zrank at me. Zrank? Seriously? What does that even prove about being on a cof run? Oh wow, you're being lazy and paying someone else to beat a dungeon for you too? Anyone who uses that emote to enforce that they are indeed teh leet is not really proving anything.

An important distinction to make here. Politely offering what you feel is helpful advice, with the goal of improving team synergy etc, is good. There's nothing wrong with that. What ticks me off are the arogant, pushy pricks who seem to think that their way of playing the game is the only way to play it.

Gotta love those.

I'm really sad most people play h/h nowadays. There's nothing I'd like more than playing a ranger named "Iol Legolas Iol" and annoying people with my level 5 pet. Oh and, running up to the warriors and casting Healing Spring to heal them.

Zrank is almost a joke. /taunt looks better. Takes PvE or even NO skills to get, if you can farm UW then you can be r7. If you can farm raptors you can be r3. If you can make predictions then you can be r1-?. Hero rank is harder, you must have at least some knowledge of PvP. It doesn't really matter popping the ghost, honestly, I don't find it a problem at all. I used to do CoF runs but once I get the gold for armor/weapons, why get more?

my one and only pet peeve is the whole notion of "cookie cutter" builds.

to me, there are two types of builds: ones that work in a certain instance for a given role, and ones that don't work. the builds that get tagged as "cookie cutter" are simply the ones that work the best, and a lot of people will use what works the best, as opposed to ones that don't work/don't work so well.
