I did publish a .pdf newsletter like you described. You have a good idea, but it is not really workable for GW. For a magazine to be successful you have to have something unique worth saying or reporting. What's your message?
What happens monthly or bimonthly worth reporting? Can you get people to commit to watching (and taking time out of their game time) to report on these events?
Who are your experts and will they write up their advice? Does anyone care?
How will you get your message out? GW has hundreds of thousands of players, not many of them go to forums where you would advertise you magazine/newsletter.
Remember GW did have a newsletter for a few months but stopped for some reason.
If you do decide to make this, I suggest you use Microsoft Publisher for the layout (which is expensive) then convert it to .pdf with latest adobe pro (which is way expensive). Then get a domain and set up a website for archive and mailing (which won't be too bad, but can get pricey). You and the team you put together are looking at a significant commitment of time and money.
You can save some money by making you newsletter mailer just a frontpage/headlines email with links back to the home page for the full story, then you could use just a document generating program.
We were a small community with one forum for trading ideas, we also had several professionals that had access to the necessary software already.
I don't want to discourage you, if this is something you really have a passion for, go for it. I just want you to understand what you are getting yourself into.

byteme!
Well the OP's original plan was to put a subscription price on his newsletter, which has been shot down numerous times in this thread. I personally wouldn't pay for something I already have or can obtain via internet. Having said that, since the OP pulled out on his original plan for subscription fees is there even still a chance he will follow through with this or was it just a cash grabbing scheme? I'm a pessimist at heart.
