Equipment Packs
Obrien Xp
These seem to have been overlooked while everyone is trolling about the storage slot prices. (I only fill 1.3 tabs anyway)
The equipment packs seem like a wonderful add-on, especially when I have two or three characters that are for farming and are still used on occasion to actually play the game (such as my raptor farming ele or my 55ss necro).
It can be annoying to have an entire set of armor sitting in my last bag with all the books that can't be put in a simple book bag or all those quest rewards for the quartermasters
Now seeing as they vary in sizes there may be those that carry a simple main/off hand item set (such as a rack for your backpack with staves and swords or something like that) Whereas others may be big enough for a wardrobe of armors and an armory of weapons (vamp, zealous, poisonous, fiery, icy, etc.)
I'm thinking that these packs may only hold customized items.
Though I'm hoping that they can carry any weapon or armor. This way it can serve the bonus purpose of holding all those useless weapons that drop so I can use it like an added bag.

The impression I'm getting from Linsey's page is that the equipment bags can hold any uncustomized weapon/offhand or any weapon/offhand/armor piece that has been customized to the character owning the bag.
This would mean, for example, that the equipment bag on a mule could hold uncustomized greens and loot weapons, but could not hold weapons or armor customized to another character. Any such customized gear would have to go in a regular storage slot.

Book bag isn't simple.
Linsey explained it sometime ago due all the variables, and that the pages act like items.
So then you get the item in an item in an item.. thing.
My warrior will be happy with the equip pack though.

Now, who's Linsey?

Linsey and Regina have different job posistions in Anet but they both can give information...

If it had about 12 slots (five armor and 8 wepons), it would be nice. that would take your four weapon slots and one extra set of armor out of the general inventory. That way you could have all your generally used weapons and your main armor, plus your most used farming armor on hand. Other stuff you could put in a different bag and mule/store. Depending on how it works out, it could be nice.
FoxBat
Customization seems like the biggest PITA here - that's alot of storage wasted on unique identifiers. I'm surprised they couldn't extend this "only your own custom" system to so many other things, such as books, minipets, etc.
Wish Swiftdeath
If they are including shields as weapons then a 20 slot bag would be nice
MK_18
Supposedly in the ingame chat they mentioned the bags will come in 5 to 20 slot sizes. A nice sized increase any way you look at it.

This is the part of the update I am most excited about. My main character currently has 3 sets of armor and 8 weapons/offhands that she cycles though frequently, depending on what kind of build I'm running. She also has a headpiece for every elementalist attribute. I am so very excited I will finally have a place to put them that isn't hogging xunlai space. If I can get all the armor out of there, I'll only have to buy like one more pane. ;-)

the thing im not looking forward to is how we will be able to get them my feeling which is sickening is that they will be drops and the 20 item slot bags will be greens that you will have to farm which will be annoying.

Probably purchase them with Zoins. Only question is how many days worth of Zoins would be necessary.

Assorted sizes of Equipment Packs (EPs) makes no sense to me. Who wants a smaller EP? What benefit do you get from a smaller EP?
I hope we are not forced into any type of quest to obtain the bags. If you have to do any quest for the EPs then ANET is dictating how you should play the game. If this is the case then grind is being added for something most of the community would consider a must have.
Conjecture at this point on my part but not reading anything that clears up how you obtain them or why you would want various sizes of EPs

I don't understand the "Assorted Sizes" either. Perhaps they will throw in some douche bag game mechanic where as if you have a larger bag you move 5% slower. I mean if there is no drawback to a larger bag why in the name of all that is holy would anyone ever get a smaller one? Perhaps they will be some astrinomical gold sink price.
Perhaps they will act like the bag, and you need a Rune of holding of sorts to increase their size.
I'm going to estimate the EP to be a small size of 5 and then perhaps a medium of 10 slots to a large of 15. It will HAVE to match up with the back pack/belt pouch/bags that we carry now with the whole "5 Spaces Across"
Lord knows, like evryone else, pure conjecture at this point.

Interesting point. One possibility is that EPs are available from merchants, with the smallest EPs in the starting areas and bigger EPs available the further you go, perhaps with the biggest EP available via zoins. Then the smaller sizes are basically just for first timers, and the majority of the community can skip straight to the larger kits.

ANet is making me ascend to go into FoW, they're dictating how I play the game!
ANet is making me beat NF to get into DoA, they're dictating how I play the game!

Dude, shut the hell up.

if i get more storage space and don't have to spend real world cash for them, i'm happy. new quests or challenges sound great. balt pts or zaishen points, same. some new fun things to do (and my threshhold of what's fun is pretty low, trapping zaishen is almost fun, and i could about do it in my sleep). i'll wait and see.

If you play Guildwars at all you need to know who Linsey is. She is the lead developer on the live team. She's the evil mastermind behind the rabbit hole. She's the creator of the Black Moa Chick scavenger hunt. She's the sadist who designed and spawned the Burning Forest. And even though she is without doubt evil and sadistic, she is also warm and personable.
I like her.

Same reason they have small bags and runes of holding: bigger bags will be more expensive.

Bigger bags are more expensive. So this is something to spend money on. If that is the case then make the EP with 1 slot and charge 1k for additional slots up to 20. so you can really spend money on it. Again what is gained from smaller bags, it sounds like getting a smaller bag is a negative.
Everything you list is COMPLETLY OPTIONAL. I would NOT consider additional storage an OPTIONAL thing. ANET/You can put the optional name on it but noone in their right mind would choose NOT to get additional storage if given a choice. Pay close attention to that NOONE WOULD CHOOSE NOT TO GET ADDITIONAL STORAGE.
You can choose not to go into FOW/DOA get a trophy item or money or skills unlocked. Sorry but your comparisons fail. Storage is premium and needed to store all the stuff you get from FOW/DOA and so on.

I find the fact the equipment bags come in various sizes as something AWESOME. I hope the bigger ones are pretty hard to get and can't be just obtained day 1 of the update.
GW really lacks in character development, and the new bags can fulfill this function at least - they will make great and desirable rewards for doing things in game, as opposed to "more of the same" approach GW used so far.

I'm actually hoping it'll be something that can be displayed on screen without the full inventory panel up. That way I can have somewhere convenient to put shields/weapons that I want to swap via double-click during PvP without taking up too much screen space.
Game-wise, I'm expecting to have to pay gold to get the equipment packs. Hopefully the price will not be restrictive. If it's true that they'll hold up to 20 items, then this will definitely solve my storage issues, since my PvE toons carry multiple sets of armor/weapons for PvP purposes. And it won't cost me any additional real money to get this, which is awesome.

I'm betting they'll be available via Zoins thereby allowing both the PvE and PvP crowd to access them by playing in their own preferred manner.

I think most people would drop up to 20k to get 20 slots in game. I am by no means wealthy by game standards, and I wouldn't bat an eye at that.

does anyone know if I can place non-customized weapons in there?
*that way I'd be able to put those vedor trash weps in there to save space

draxynnic
Apparently you can.
Seems that what they've done with the bags is replace the entry for who the item is customised for (which is probably three or four bytes of data per slot, given the number of characters in game) with a single bit - 'customised to bearer' and 'not customised'. Any item that doesn't fit in one of those categories can be put in the equipment bag.
So you can put merch-trash in there, or the stuff you're carrying around because it has mods on it you may want to salvage off sometime, or the green that you're not using but holding onto in case someone asks for it, but you can't use it to carry something customised to another character.

You can choose to get the 5 slot or you can choose to go on the quests to get the 20 slot. You have the option of being lazy and only getting 5 slots extra or putting in effort and getting the max reward. I'd see no problem in setting it up in this way replacing the gold with a small number of zoins if necessary. Everyone can get extra storage its up to the player how much they want to work for it. Options are good, handing everything out easy because people don't want to work for it is bad.

Would hate to see this linked with the new zaishen quests where you would have to complete all three types to obtain the best EP. Once again you would be forced to do things you normally would not just to get the additional storage. IMO is adding grind. But until it comes out it is all conjecture.....
I think all the solo players would be pissed if the quest/s was so hard that you needed a group to complete it. You have now forced them into a PUG (oh Joy) or not getting it.
Phineas
No one seems to have spotted the current theme... I think the 5-slot will be free, and the extra 15 spaces will be optional purchases from the online store, in chunks of 5, at a guess.
Falling Petal
We know the bags are limited in what they can contain, and that there are armour ones and weapon ones. Could it be that you can carry 20 slots worth of equipment pack, but you break that down how you want? Example: one 20 slot armour bag, or a 5 slot armour bag + a 15 slot weapon bag?
Edit: I hope there is some sort of quest / monster drop element to these equipment packs. If they are tradable then the players that don't like this idea can simply buy them from other players the same as everything else.

Nobody thought that you would just buy them from an NPC (Xunlai Agent?) and they'd have different prices?
100g, 1k, 10k, 100k?
This game needs more goldsinks, that wouldn't be a bad idea. In fact, I thought that's how additional tabs would work.
