These seem to have been overlooked while everyone is trolling about the storage slot prices. (I only fill 1.3 tabs anyway)

The equipment packs seem like a wonderful add-on, especially when I have two or three characters that are for farming and are still used on occasion to actually play the game (such as my raptor farming ele or my 55ss necro).

It can be annoying to have an entire set of armor sitting in my last bag with all the books that can't be put in a simple book bag or all those quest rewards for the quartermasters

Now seeing as they vary in sizes there may be those that carry a simple main/off hand item set (such as a rack for your backpack with staves and swords or something like that) Whereas others may be big enough for a wardrobe of armors and an armory of weapons (vamp, zealous, poisonous, fiery, icy, etc.)

I'm thinking that these packs may only hold customized items.

Though I'm hoping that they can carry any weapon or armor. This way it can serve the bonus purpose of holding all those useless weapons that drop so I can use it like an added bag.

The impression I'm getting from Linsey's page is that the equipment bags can hold any uncustomized weapon/offhand or any weapon/offhand/armor piece that has been customized to the character owning the bag.

This would mean, for example, that the equipment bag on a mule could hold uncustomized greens and loot weapons, but could not hold weapons or armor customized to another character. Any such customized gear would have to go in a regular storage slot.

Book bag isn't simple.
Linsey explained it sometime ago due all the variables, and that the pages act like items.
So then you get the item in an item in an item.. thing.

My warrior will be happy with the equip pack though.

If it had about 12 slots (five armor and 8 wepons), it would be nice. that would take your four weapon slots and one extra set of armor out of the general inventory. That way you could have all your generally used weapons and your main armor, plus your most used farming armor on hand. Other stuff you could put in a different bag and mule/store. Depending on how it works out, it could be nice.

Customization seems like the biggest PITA here - that's alot of storage wasted on unique identifiers. I'm surprised they couldn't extend this "only your own custom" system to so many other things, such as books, minipets, etc.

If they are including shields as weapons then a 20 slot bag would be nice

Supposedly in the ingame chat they mentioned the bags will come in 5 to 20 slot sizes. A nice sized increase any way you look at it.

This is the part of the update I am most excited about. My main character currently has 3 sets of armor and 8 weapons/offhands that she cycles though frequently, depending on what kind of build I'm running. She also has a headpiece for every elementalist attribute. I am so very excited I will finally have a place to put them that isn't hogging xunlai space. If I can get all the armor out of there, I'll only have to buy like one more pane. ;-)

the thing im not looking forward to is how we will be able to get them my feeling which is sickening is that they will be drops and the 20 item slot bags will be greens that you will have to farm which will be annoying.

Probably purchase them with Zoins. Only question is how many days worth of Zoins would be necessary.

Assorted sizes of Equipment Packs (EPs) makes no sense to me. Who wants a smaller EP? What benefit do you get from a smaller EP?

I hope we are not forced into any type of quest to obtain the bags. If you have to do any quest for the EPs then ANET is dictating how you should play the game. If this is the case then grind is being added for something most of the community would consider a must have.

Conjecture at this point on my part but not reading anything that clears up how you obtain them or why you would want various sizes of EPs

I don't understand the "Assorted Sizes" either. Perhaps they will throw in some douche bag game mechanic where as if you have a larger bag you move 5% slower. I mean if there is no drawback to a larger bag why in the name of all that is holy would anyone ever get a smaller one? Perhaps they will be some astrinomical gold sink price.

Perhaps they will act like the bag, and you need a Rune of holding of sorts to increase their size.

I'm going to estimate the EP to be a small size of 5 and then perhaps a medium of 10 slots to a large of 15. It will HAVE to match up with the back pack/belt pouch/bags that we carry now with the whole "5 Spaces Across"

Lord knows, like evryone else, pure conjecture at this point.

Interesting point. One possibility is that EPs are available from merchants, with the smallest EPs in the starting areas and bigger EPs available the further you go, perhaps with the biggest EP available via zoins. Then the smaller sizes are basically just for first timers, and the majority of the community can skip straight to the larger kits.

More like, some weirdo NPC giving out a series of quests, the rewards being the bags. Complete all the quests - get the largest bag. More realistic sounds to just buy em off an NPC with your z coins or w/e, bigger costing more coins

Same reason they have small bags and runes of holding: bigger bags will be more expensive.

Lol?
ANet is making me ascend to go into FoW, they're dictating how I play the game!
ANet is making me beat NF to get into DoA, they're dictating how I play the game!
ANet is making me beat a quest to get a PvE skill I want, they're dictating how I play the game!
ANet is making me play through quests to get trophy items to hand in for ID kits, they're dictating how I play the game!
ANet is making me play the game to get money to get fancy stuff, they're dictating how I play the game!

Dude, shut the hell up.

if i get more storage space and don't have to spend real world cash for them, i'm happy. new quests or challenges sound great. balt pts or zaishen points, same. some new fun things to do (and my threshhold of what's fun is pretty low, trapping zaishen is almost fun, and i could about do it in my sleep). i'll wait and see.

If you play Guildwars at all you need to know who Linsey is. She is the lead developer on the live team. She's the evil mastermind behind the rabbit hole. She's the creator of the Black Moa Chick scavenger hunt. She's the sadist who designed and spawned the Burning Forest. And even though she is without doubt evil and sadistic, she is also warm and personable.

I like her.
