Free extra tab for storage

I predict a Buy-One-Get-One-Free promotion over the birthday period, or something like that.

Just requesting some clarification - The Guild Wars login screen states:
Is this the Thursday April 24th that occurs in 2014?

I'm assuming it's supposed to be Thursday April 23rd this year, given www.guildwars.com states the 23rd.

cos if its just free one tabs and the max remains 8 and not 9 then theres no difference whether you buy it now or later right?

I truly truly hope so. But I'm pessimistic about that. I'm guessing buy 4 get 1 free. And that's "only" $39,96 people! wowzers! 100 xunlai spaces for the price of the complete GW anthology (with 480~600 slots not counting hero's and mat storage)...
I'd buy 4+1 for $9,99, but not for $9,99 EACH, especially with the rediculous $-€ conversion Anet uses. €8,99 is almost twice as expensive as $9,99!!!

Don't you know that European bits take up twice as much space as American bits?! It's the cost of server space!

Um has anyone other than me looked at buying the stock for NCSoft? If you do you can clearly see that they have been and still are making a small but tidy profit from the games. Remember that it is not based in the US and every buck that they earn it becomes more than that cause the dollar is worth more then their currency.

So for the last reporting quarter they made almost 30,000 USD in profit or about 10 Grand a month. This might not sound like much but in a depression it sure is a lot of coin. So in the last 4 quarters they have make a profit - after all expenses including share holders dividens and employee salaries (over 2,000 of them) NCSoft made over 145,000 USD for 2008 reporting period.

6 of the EX's are related including 3 on the board. This is a family run Company which I personally find fantastic.

Remember that GW is not the only game just the largest for ANet a devision of NCSoft.

I should add that at yesterdays close the stock was around 87 bucks a share.

So if you are thinking that they have no money for networks and servers you are a misinformed 12 year old. This will be a perfectly logical step to charge 10 bucks for a storage space because they created the need for it. Now they are filling that need.

Someone once said that if someone wants to be promoted and noticed they must first create a problem while having the solution. The trick is to not make the solution to easy for others to identify and allow just the right amount of time to pass before making the solution a reality. This will get you promoted.

So GW created the "books" Lots of them. Now there is enough books to almost fill one slot in the storage for an account - in my case anyway. So to overcome this they do not provide a storage spot from GW:EN's release instantly creating the demand. remember when that was a heated topic here. Remember that they read these posts! Even in this thread!. They run this thing!

They know what is what. They are not stupid. Very smart in-fact.

So I for one will not be buying extra storage at 10 bucks a pop. I unlike others decided to store only certain things in my storage since I got used to doing so over the past few months. I keep 3 weapon sets on my main toon and then just merchant everything else.

Now if the chest could hold unlimited gold with the update..this might interest me.

I hope the Quarterly update is not delayed. I'd be bummed about that then. I'm looking forward to all the content. If it was the Purchase Divine Aura I'd proabably buy that promotion.

Since the only date announced so far is "April", the update won't be delayed unless it fails to materialize by the end of the day on April 30. Unfortunately, I think many people are prepared to scream "delay" if the update fails to materialize today. Heck, some people have already screamed "delay" because it didn't materialize on April 9th. I'm getting my earplugs ready ...

Let me guess. You have shares in NCSoft, you're not getting much dividends, so you're going to sell. But first you want to persuade others to buy up NCsoft shares so their value goes up a little.

You mean storage tabs? Even if no purchase is required to get the free one... I will certainly buy all the extra ones anyway. At $10 a pop.

Extra storage has always been available by buying character slots and accounts. I already have plenty of those and I don't need any more.

Basically I hate having to move stuff into stash, then back out to a mule character... either systematically organising everything, or searching through the mules when I need something... then move stuff to stash again and back out to the char that needs it. It's even worse moving stuff between accounts.

I don't need more storage. What I need is easier access to the stuff I'm already storing. Storage tabs give me that, extra chars and accounts do not. The convenience of having another 20 items immediately available to all my chars is easily worth $10 a pop to me.

You want more storage, you buy chars or accounts just like before. You want easier access to your items, buy tabs.

Did you read his post at all? He made the shares comment to make the point that Anet is not hurting at all. If they're still making a profit given the recession that the WORLD is going through, they're not in any position to be crying about money.

This whole thing is a profit play, and people like you are the suckers.

One thing I would like to be informed is about the "free storage pane".
As I read in the official website it is an "offer" during a limited period, a "promotion"... It means that something should be done to qualify for the offer, like buying something or spending X amount in the store.

People is starting to speculate (form ingame chat I heard this a lot of times) that the free storage pane will be available by ingame means (e.g. a special quest, or some NPC). It seems quite unlikely from the wording of the official site.

I'm not asking for pecise details, but could you please clarify at least this bit to avoid further speculation?

Businesses are in it to make money.....off the consumers, and for those of you not smart enough to understand that, that would be us.

As I argued in the 'boycott storage tabs thread' if you want them, buy them, if not then don't. Anet has to make money to pay their employees, maintain the servers, and finance GW2. Without income our free game ceases to exist.

You people think a 10,000$ profit in a single month is great? Hardly. Go look at what Microsoft lists as making monthly, or what Toyota lists as their profits. Small jewelry businesses make more than that on a monthly basis!

What are you people talking about, NCSoft reported a net profit of over $30 million US on sales of just under $250 million US for 2008. That was down from the previous year, but the last quarter was up over the year before, thanks to Aion sales. And that is with no major releases aside from the beginning of Aion at the end of November.

With Aion going well in Korea and now China, they will be doing just fine this year.

Not to mention, with somewhere in the range of 6 million boxed copies of Guild Wars sold, ArenaNet has taken in probably close to $200 million US (gross sales, at the very least), figuring in standard percentage of the retail price of the various campaigns. And that doesn't count collector editions; let alone online sales, etc., which are almost pure profit.

Please, ArenaNet is NOT hurting for money, unless they spent it all without any kind of business plan and assuming NCSoft didn't use the profits to fund the Tabula Rasa disaster. NCSoft has also publicly said they increased funding for their AAA games: Linage, GW, CoH/CoV and TR (whoops, they pulled the plug on TR). By NCSoft's own accounts, Tabula Rasa took $50 million down the hole from start to finish, which I believe actually started well before GW was released and TR didn't come out until, what 2007!!!

Aion will bring in huge profits if it continues to do as well as it has. GW2 is almost a sure bet to do very well. Which is why having only 2 or 3 GW1 Live staff and getting squeezed for storage that should have been added at no cost (along with an auction hall, IMO) all along is a bit annoying, to say the least. They basically abandoned GW1 and now want to milk the customers for more so they can work on a bigger and better GW2, never mind they took in enough money to already cover that, as well as supposedly having increased dev funds from NCSoft!

We won't go into the head of another NCSoft title mentioning that server storage costs isn't even an issue these days.... or the fact they are still selling a freaking 200,000 copies of GW each quarter! The more I think about this the more pissed I get, so time to go do something else.

Let me amend my rant above a bit, I have been having a really bad day.

I'm thankful that Linsey and crew are still working on GW and giving us neat new things at no extra cost. But ANet just got around to doing this after pretty much neglecting the game since the release of EotN. And with all the little additions (story books, etc.) more storage space was needed, especially for those of us that collect weapons and armor (or other stuff).

As the original concept was apparently that people would stop the PvE once they got to the PvP, so no need for more storage or an auction hall, that has turned out to be not true. After recently playing several MMO games with auction halls I now see how badly GW needs one.

The fact it would cost me $40 PER account (I have 7 accounts, although I would only have upgraded 5 most likely), that is $200, just for a little bit of extra storage. That hit a nerve, even though I am willing to spend a reasonable amount (NOT $200!) to do so, to feed my pack-rat habbit. The 5 to 20 extra free armor/weapon storage spaces will have to do, I guess.

So instead I'll just continue to enjoy GW, not collect stuff I would have, not play as much as I planned to and put more time and dollars into other games that are providing better value to me for the money spent.

That it would cost me almost more to upgrade them than they all cost in the first place. But whatever. Looks like we are actually getting one pane for free without having to buy any/all 4 as I thought, so I'll completely withdraw my complaints! Thank you for the free pane and equipment pouch thingie Anet! I'll even buy some extra panes (one per freebie, so they'll be $5 each in effect).

Why couldn't they just give everyone a free extra pane along with this update? So we could avoid going to the NCsoft store, which isn't loading btw. Page load error over and over for me. The first few pages loaded really slow, that's fine, but as soon as I click on "buy now" I sit and wait only to receive a timeout error.

I mean, I appreciate the free storage but... Why? Color me confused.

NcSoft is having their site swamped right now. Good luck trying to get to it, it's almost impossible due to the amount of people trying to get the extra pane.

How do you even tie your NCSoft account to your Guild Wars account? The instrucitons dont make sense.

I am logged in and it asks for my account name with 5 to 12 chars - what account name? I am already logged into NCSoft! My GW account name is longer than that and has spaces? HELP?!?! PM

I guess I was lucky I sent a support issue a couple years ago since I found my PlayNC account name on the email they sent back. Now to get my password from them..

I encountered the exact same error. I've contacted their support so hopefully they will get it straightened out.
