I've been farming in the Battledepths dungeon for ages now and I've yet to get a drop. I've already got 3 from farming in Arbor Bay, but they've stopped dropping now.

I did solo farming outside of central transfer chamber for a little bit and got all 5 scales I needed. Strangely, every group dropped exactly 1 scale every time. It might just be a coincidence though.
This is probably a slow method, but I did a Mo/Rt with max channeling, max prot, Vengeful was khanei, vengeful weapon, prot spirit, SoA, Shielding Hands, healing breeze, essence bond, balth's spirit (with 105 health). You just have to watch out for the knockdowns. They eventually die (it takes a while).

This is the reason I have been loving The traveller, for the farming. i like the fact that I have to farm strange beasts, problem solving with builds that match monster skills, brilliant!

I've been doing solo Mo/D in Battledepths - the same drake-heavy area accessible from CtC is accessible from eotn - a fact unbeknownst to me when I was failing with my ranger+6 h/h (failing, meaning 1 scale every 2-3 runs). 2 runs with solo Mo/D netted me 9 scales. Too bad I got them too late to sell for 4k per like this morning

You can easily 55 the Chromatics as a Necro if you take IAU for Mind Shock. Monk should be able to do it as well, but I only used Necro for it. Get 15 scales in 3 runs, killing a total of 17 groups. Roughly 1 scale per group. Took me about 20 minutes I think.

Got my 5 scales in 2 runs with 7 henchman. Much better than last weeks roots.
I killed the first 3 groups just outside of the Central Chamber.

Does HM increase the drops of trophies? Is it worth farming them in HM or just speed kill in NM?

600 smite with Oggy. Ran out to HoS entrance killing 5 groups on way - 2 groups yielded 2 scales each. Zoned into HoS and out again. Killed the 2 groups at entrance - 0 from one and again 2 from the other.
About 3-6 per run seems right. Wish I had taken more offense on my bar though to speed things up. After the first 2 groups I just stopped using Spellbreaker because it wasnt needed.

Gah. I got 10 summoners, 10 transformers, and 5 green candies. I sold the candy (along with last weeks candy) and got a reasonable price for it though, so it's not too bad. I'll just farm and sell the scales now.

First account got summoning stones, blue rock candies, jars of honey, summoning stones, and more summoning stones (that's 10 merchant and 5 mysterious altogether). Second account got jars of honey, honeycombs, blue rock candies, blue rock candies, and mysterious summoning stones.
I had 6 scales on a mule, it took me an hour to get the remaining four. But I went with a full party of hero/hench, because I couldn't be bothered to find a decent build for this. The drop rate seems to be pretty decent, it's simple to run back and forth from the Central Transfer Chamber to the Heart of the Shiverpeaks, and the fact that Nicholas is only collecting one scale per gift... pretty easy.

I'm playing through EotN with a friend so I have to wait to get to everywhere with chromatic drake except for Arbor Bay and Darkrime Delves.
