Recently I have been permanently banned for selling fame for ingame money, i cudnt find any of this in the ula or code of conduct. Maybe someone here can help me find where it is. I've read it over 4 times now.

These are the emails i sent to anet and the responces i got

Dear GM,

After your previous responce, I have carefully read the code of conduct again, and I think a serious error has been made.

The bannable offence that came the closest to what you described was, and I quote:

" Selling services of any kind—including such things as "runs" through portions of the game—for real-world currency."

I did not do this, you see, I "Sold" 10 fame, for ingame money, which is not real-world currency.
You can compare this with people running you through missions.

If selling fame for ingame money is a bannable offence can you please qoute the part of the code of conduct which sais so.

I hope you will read this in time, and that you give me an answer, becouse I really want to play this months mAT.

While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people's game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.

Im not manipulating ladder, this is HA. They just join my team, win a lot, get loads of fame, and pay me.

The EU site's version is even more vague, but applies through not playing in good faith, I suppose:

Engaging in PvP match manipulation, disrupting a PvP match by not actively playing in good faith, or any other form of PvP griefing, exploitation, or abuse.

Uhhh tons of people have bought and sold fame, by taking lesser players with them on runs. Its known fact. I've heard nothing about anyone else being banned or asked to stop, so why start now???

By no means is this different than running a mission its just pve vs pvp. And how is it disrupting game play, if the other team gets beat by the fame farm spike, then obviously they weren't good enough to beat a real team, farm spike or not.

Edit- Oh, And if they aren't playing a farm spike to get the fame, then obviously the player has some remote knowledge and working of the game in order for the team to have success.

So someone going afk because he has to go take a piss, thus disrupting the match for his team, and not acting in good faith of the PvP match should get banned?

How about people abusing overpowered builds? Are they not causing grief to other people who refuse to abuse clearly imbalanced mechanics/builds (Bspam).

Anet can take their EULA and shove it up their ass with all it's double standards and vague descriptions of what is banneable and whatnot.

Bottom line is:

If "running" someone through HA, which is nothing more than a MISSION, is bannable, then so should running someone through ANY mission be.

It makes no sense they banned this guy for it, and I'm kinda ticked off, as I've sold fame before aswell.

It's pretty sad when people get banned for "small stuff", such as cusing. It's downright pathetic when they start banning people for stuff that's not even "illegal".

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. No matter how much I wanted to laugh at you and tell you that you got what you deserved, it's just too stupid to do that. You don't deserve a ban for that, it's an in-game service.

I remember when a fame-farming service was offered here for in-game money and no one was against it.. when did it become illegal? I was under the impression that it was valid since it was similar to offering runs.

First off, use spell check when you send emails to anyone. Second, you were a little demanding when you sent that email. It's okay to inquire, but to demand is never good to do. I wouldn't have sent you a respond back if you had sent me an email of that quality.

The way I see it is, you're taking advantage of someone who can't find a team. You cannot argue "well i'm doing this because person XYZ does not want to grind the title". You can't argue that because they have to grind the points if they pay or not. That person has to have a team to play and you're charging them to be on your team. Are you and everyone else on the team benefiting if XYZ is on or not on the team? Yes. You get fame. Is he at a disadvantage if he's on the team in terms of everyone else? Yes. It's a lose/lose situation for him. and a win/win for you.

But then again, maybe you got banned because you did a gold transaction with out giving up anything and then you went into GVG at a fame farming rank.

One they are nicking you because you are taking advantage of a HA minority and the other assume the gold was traded for champ point fame.

Either way, taking advantage of someone who can't find a team is pretty crappy in my book. Good luck!

Although, even though to me it sounds a little out-of-place, I don't think a perma ban was neccassary. I'm thinking if they would have banned you for a week, you would have gotten the message, a perma ban is just too strong of a punishment for the act you did. Maybe you are good, maybe you do get noobs fame, which doesn't seem right to me, but a perma ban? Ouch. Too harsh Anet, too harsh.

(they found out I said this b/c they have been stalking my every chat log for the last month-- I have proof from Gaile via personal email to confirm this accused stalking) and saying the word "gay" in a CORRECT way of using it (basicly, saying it in reference in the definition of "happy"/"thrilling").

How is it taking advantage of someone if they themselves chose to pay? If the buyer makes a conscious decision to buy an ingame service then they aren't being taken advantage of. By your logic, people that pay for droks runs are being taken advantage of because they can make it there themselves.

whether or not fame farming is or should be illegal is a different issue, but I don't think a perma ban was suitable. A warning would have been sufficient.

Hmm... just keep e-mailing them. It's obvious the support team doesn't even understand your complaint. This is no different from running or any other service offered in the game. Furthermore, its not like the guy just AFKs. He actually does participate in the match. (and Scar ra, you can't exactly "play the game yourself" in PvP where you by definition NEED a team).

An official clarification of this policy would be nice since it clearly doesn't fall into the ladder manipulation category.
