BlueXIV's Commissions

Background:
I'm a hobbyist digital painter, and I want to help my character along in Guild Wars by taking some commissions. I've had lots of experience with digital painting before, but have not done any serious commission work yet--hopefully, this will be a fun way to get started.

The Basic Idea:
I draw whatever you want, for $$$

I have some preferences on what I draw, but there is nothing--short of hardcore pornography--that I can't be bribed into drawing :P

Pricing:
Where I differ from most artists here is in my CG process. I don't really do lineart, then color them. I enjoy doing mass sensitive paintings, which basically means I simply start by putting down shapes and value, and worry about hard edges and lines later.

The implications of this is that I wont be offering simple "character lineart" (unless I'm bribed into doing it, but then it wont be much cheaper than a full on painting).

Hence, the three basic formats I'll be offering will be
Update: Uhm, since everyone seems to be requesting CG paintings, I've decided to update the price on some of the other options, perhaps to make them a bit more attractive :P. I've also removed BW sketch because it doesn't take me much longer to add a quick colorwash. If you want monochrome, just include it in your request.
Sketch = 1x Base Cost (this will be a quick color wash, nothing big) Speed Paint = 2x Base Cost (includes background) CG Painting = 4x Base Cost (includes background, basically, it'll look more finished and detailed than a speed paint) Note: CG Painting's new pricing is not a price raise, since the baseline costs were lowered to compensate.

Also, I will not be pricing on fullbody/portrait/upperbody, but on how big you want it to be. (I will be definitely charging more for a desktop sized painting than a display picture) This is because even if it's just a portrait, painting a big portrait involves a lot of details and textures, and sometimes can be harder or more time consuming than a full body.
Right now, the base costs for each will beDisplay Picture [10k] <- only because I hate doing them :P Website quality (around 600x400is) [15k] Desktop Sized (1680x1050) [30k]
Updated: due to the sheer number of requests and how slow I work, I've taken out print quality and poster quality. I simply wont have the time to do them.

I charge a high price for commissions because they take me quite a long time. If I do find myself speeding through them though, I might lower the prices.
Edit: CG wallpapers right now take 1+ week. <_> so much for speeding through them.

While I don't really charge much extra for specifically more characters, I will charge extra for complexity. Basically, if its more than two characters, PM me or post here, and we'll discuss pricing.

I'll be painting in my normal style, unless convinced or bribed to do otherwise.

Prices are, as always, negotiable as well.

To be honest, I'm more of an environmental painter (I'll be perfectly willing to paint your guildhall! ) than a figure painter, but I have done quite a feel character paintings before.

I'd like it desktop size, if you manage to get to it

Basically, long story short Sue Aside is inspired by the bride from Kill Bill. At the alter her "groom" exposed himself to being Am Fah in order to attack her family (Canthan traders). Her main goal now is basically revenge, so although she may look like a sweet mesmer her thoughts are usually on violence. If you want to include a weapon she uses a katana.

Edit: Here's a bio, since you seem to be really great in incorporating them =)

Sue Aside is a very mischievous and adventurous mesmer, sometimes too much for her own good. She worked as a bodyguard of sorts for the Kaineng traders who did not believe in violence as an answer. Instead, she would provide cover by showing the attackers temporary visions of phantoms that were not really there, allowing the traders and herself a quick getaway.

Through her line of duty she met a mysterious male mesmer and they fell in love. He bought her many expensive dresses, and armors before he finally purposed to her. On the day of their wedding, many traders who loved Sue attended to see this blessed day.

That day however proved fatal when her groom revealed himself as Am Fah. The groom and his side of the "family" raised their weapons to the traders, and many if not all were slaughtered that day. The Am Fah proved victorious and ran out of the wedding area to raid the houses of those whom they had killed.

Sue was left crippled and bleeding not only physically, but internally as well from the betrayal of her fiance. Since then, violence became an answer. Her methods became more torturous, especially with Am Fah. Not only would she give them false visions, but she would wear down their energy and cause them to attack themselves helplessly.

While she no longer works with the Kaineng traders, she can still be seen walking along the roads and cities of Cantha, seeking revenge on those who betrayed her.

Bio: Bit of a long bio, but I've never really thought too much about a backstory before and I got carried away.

William was out hunting with his brother when the Charr seared the kingdom of ascalon, he saw from a hilltop the destruction which rained down upon the city of Ascalon and when he returned he found nothing but burnt cinders and broken lives. Collecting the few surviving Ascalonians he tore through Tyria under the mantle of the Legion of the Blue Blade, bent on vengeance and satisfaction. As they travelled through the unwelcoming landscapes of the maguuma jungle and crystal desert, the Blue Blades grew strong and numerous - becoming a formidable force with William at the head, his hatred driving them on. When they finally reached Hell's Precipace and defeated the Lich, the Blue Blades found that their purpose in life had also been defeated and so travelled far and wide seeking a new home to make a life.

Having build up quite a bounty from their quest in Tyria the Blue Blades purchased a guild hall in the imperial city of Kaineng and began to rebuild their lives. One member, called Hobo, did not find peace in Kaineng and instead discovered that the hole left after the destruction of the Lich was too great to bear. He tried filling it with gold, women, lechery and drunkenness - but the emptiness he felt drove him to the edge of madness. In the middle of the night he stole into William's chamber and beat him mercilessly with the butt of his sword. William only came too once or twice that night, only seeing the burning guild hall, doors locked and bolted and hearing faint screams, the laughing face of Hobo - manic with desperation, fear and loathing.

William's badly beaten body was found by the healer Mhenlo, an acquaintance from his travels through Tyria, and over a few months nursed back to health. Gradually, few remaining Blue Blades came to Mhenlo for treatment and shelter. When he was at full strength William found that he was once again homeless and without direction. Mhenlo asked him to assist with a matter of great urgency which threatened the whole of Cantha - the afflicted plague caused by the return of Shiro Tagachi. William and the Blue Blades fought bravely and eventually, with the help of the Luxon armada, they overcame the threat posed by their ancient foe. As a reward Elder Rhea offered William and the Blue Blades positions in the Luxon army guarding the borders between Kurzick and Luxon lands, in order to maintain the tentative peace which followed this victory. William was presented with the armour of the Kurzick elite guard as a sign of good faith.

One day, on routine patrol through a small settlement south of saltspray beach William encountered a contingent of Kurzick elite guards way beyond the borders of their lands. They surrounded their general, whom they held above their heads on a sedan chair, the men at the front of the caravan whipped and lashed out at the people of the village who got in their way. The rest of the Blue Blades lept behind cover, determined to maintain the drop on the Kurzick warband - William, however, did not move. To his horror William recognised the face of the cruel Kurzick general, it was Hobo. Forgetting the treaty, forgetting the honour of his position and forgetting his loyalty to the Luxon armada, William drew his blades and charged at the platoon of highly skilled Kurzick guards, singlehandedly cutting his way to the center of their group. When all the guards lay dead he turned to the fleeing character of Hobo and let loose and arrow from his bow - the head lodged deep in the back of Hobo's skull.

The villagers, terrified of the fury and violence they just witnessed drove the Blue Blades out the village and into the wilderness. Now the Blue Blades patrol the Luxon borders, cast out by Elde Rhea and despised by Kurzick soldiers they use guerilla warfare tactics to take large Kurzick patrols by suprise.

In your case, I think you work better with your creativity unfettered, and am more than happy for a speed from you, you can use Ala's post on the first page in your other thread which is simple enough

Despite the gruesome theme, I'd suggest some happy song, eg Beethoven's Ode to Joy, or perhaps "Stuck in the Middle with You" (*not for the faint-of-heart~!) would be apt ..
