I AM SO DONE.
LMAO. That. is. EPIC.
(sorry for the slow reply >.> thread dropped off the front of Nolani for some reason)

...okay, I can't resist it anymore. I have enough saved up to afford a goldsink, so here it is. I understand you're still really full up with commissions right now, so as long as you get to it sometime in the not-too-far-away future, then it's fine with me.

-------------------------------------
OH NOES A REQUEST

Code: Basic Format: CG Painting Size: Desktop Size (The new monitor I'm getting soon will be a wide 1920x1080, so could you pull it into a widescreen size? I'll tip for the trouble.) Price: 35e + items (will edit this post with items later) Now as for the character, it would definitely be my Ranger Gint Stormrage.
I'm thinking for the background somewhere in EotN, such as the border between Olafstead and Verdant Cascades, where snow meets grass.

Glint isn't a fighter. Your battle scenes are awesome but if you could draw her in a somewhat more contemplative mood that would be interesting. I'm thinking perhaps Glint standing on a snowy outcrop ledge with caves and greenery in the background. Think wilderness survival or just gazing out over the land :] If you could draw a multitude (well, more like 5 or so) of black and white moa chicks at her feet, that would be absolutely adorable + + I love moa chicks. If you think the cuteness would spoil the atmosphere then... as weird as it is... could you draw Surinya? My ghost cat from WoW. She's semitransparent, and likes to stretch o_o

Glint References

* Glint has green eyes. The red segments on her pants should be silver/grey and the jade part should be less scaly - try to make it look like a matching set instead of a random combo if possible. Mask on mask off doesn't matter.
* Please include the bow if possible!

Surinya

Please let me know if you want WiPs or just the finished product. I'd recommend anyone to ask for WiP's, especially from you ~
whilst receiving awesome art is swell,
it is far more meaningful to appreciate the progress to reach there .. the real meat of the art is in the works, the journey, and I certainly enjoy progressions as much as the completed piece.
Your own WiP's have been such a tease ~

The rare artist who involves the client with the creation is a treasure to commish, but it must be timeconsuming, exchanging ideas back&forth ..

and some peeps just like surprises ~

Felt like adding a gigantic flesh golem in there. Didn't bother looking up what it looks like, so it might not actually be a flesh golem

Edit:
Btw, someone PMed me in game asking me whether I would be lowering my price on commissions since CG Desktops are too expensive for an average player. My answer to him and to any further questions about my price is that I wont be lowering my price any time soon. I can take up to around 12+ hours on a commission of the typical size. This means in terms of gold/hour, it's something like 10k/hour.

I believe I could farm twice as fast in game just running a feather farm. Of course, I enjoy drawing a lot more than farming feathers, but the reasoning still stands. There are plenty of good artists here on guru that are offering their services for less, and you can probably contact them instead.

Sorry about the mini-rant, but I'm kinda annoyed that I was accused of price gouging.

IMO your prices are fine, I'm actually surprised they aren't higher because of the skill you have. Ahem not trying to sound like i'm trying to encourage you to rise your prices or anything...cus they're fine the way they are now =P

Her commission looks like its coming along awesomely (if that's a word). Kinda funny that lots of people like drawing her with flesh golems, not that I can really blame them because they're really cool looking. She'll be happy for sure =)

I didn't quite like the composition on the first wip, so I tried resketching it.

I think it turned out better composition-wise, but... uh... the necro is a bit... small XD.

Yeah okay, back to the drawing board... T_T

(For best results, view while listening to this)

Edit: Yes, that tiny necro in the bottom-right corner is Shala. lololol

While I was messing around with photoshop, I found something on my hard drive that I did a while ago. Touched it up a bit, and thought someone might like it, so I'll post it here as well.
Basically, my idea of what an Avatar of Abaddon'd derv would look like :\

if you wouldn't mind, could you ignore my idea for the commission and do whatever you want? i really like your ideas for the different characters, and i believe i would love it even more if you did.

and i really like the second picture of shala.

thanks

Sweeet. I really like the second one you did of Shala's necro. Granted the main character became a bit small but the feeling in it is great. Love it. <3

@Shenanigan,
Well, I dunno... that's a PRETTY HARD REQUEST YOU GOT THAR. :P, sure, I'll come up with something when I finish this one.

@Espadon,
Dammit, you're right! I'll have to fix it later. Needs to look more like zergling claws.

@Nian,
I like the second one too, but it wouldn't be much of a character commission :\.

@Ovv,
I think the pose in the 1st one is nice, but it just seems really boring, composition-wise. And I love love love GW concept art. It's probably THE reason I got into drawing :P. I have huge respect for those guys at ncsoft

Anyways, I'll have to update a bit later, kinda busy today. I kinda changed the whole picture, since the flesh golem was too hard to include without dwarfing shala.

I love all the pieces you have submitted so far, especially the "Shadow" one. You have such great perspective and you set a mood so well. I'm yet to brave a full action piece.

Keep it up.

Overlooking all my past commissions, I noticed here I didn't specifize the style - just the size. So I edited the post. (It would be speed paint).

Hope you don't over strain yourself with all these commissions. :x

Small update (with no pictures D. I finally got a composition I like for her necro, except... well it's a bit too epic. If I do choose to do this, it might take me atleast another week to finish up because of all the details D:

I was pretty busy with my work this week, so I didn't get much of a chance to do anything... hopefully this weekend, I can finalize a color sketch...

I AM SOO SLOW D:

I think I am having so much trouble with my commissions because everyone is requesting wallpaper size. While the size isn't really an issue, the landscape format is.
It's really hard to focus on one character in a landscape composition :\ I scrapped a lot of good compositions just because they were vertical. I think doing landscapes just isn't very conducive for character art haha.

I'm not really sure what to do about this, but...

w/e

Edit: After this one, I am going to be changing my price format. The payment options will be time based instead of size/detail based. Basically, you will be paying for a limit on how much time you are willing to pay for a piece. I'll clock myself, and if I take less time, I'll only charge you for the time i used. Sounds fair?
Changing prices probably wouldn't affect commissioners much; we're all pretty much made of money.

Time is meaningless when quality is at stake. Of course, it's not at my own expense, but you should take all the time you need for art. Always.

Fair enough.

Quote: Furthermore, it also makes sense for Blue to raise prices if people are willing to pay it. I also disagree with your sentiment that everyone here is made of money - I definitely think many are not, although there are a few who are rich. If Blue was charging 800-1 mil a commission, would you be so quick to buy one? I'm not that fortunate, as it would seem. But there's the fact that the arts are more of a luxury. Even with high rates, quality artists face mass demand.

Quote:
Your second statement is also false. Although quality is important, there comes a point where the returns from time invested is not really acceptable. Indeed, it is not a given that there is a strict linear relationship between time invested and quality. I was thinking a bit more realistically, but that's what I get for speaking loosely.

Quote:
I think many artists would also disagree that time is meaningless. Their time is important, they are doing work for a client who is only paying them a certain flat fee, and therefore it is in their interest to limit the amount of time they spend on a particular work unless they have some sort of extra personal interest vested in it. That too is reasonable enough, but my own personal interests are all about the quality of the art. And, consider each individual commissioner. Wouldn't they find it better to have a higher quality piece? If the artist has the drive and motivation, by all means.

I speak with no expense here, however. I simply am taking in all the art <all the while, derailing this thread>, with hopes that each piece to come is far superior to the one that preceded it.

Forgive my derailing. That will be all for now.

The truest of all facts is this:

The one with the money is king.

If you charge too high, you lose. If you charge too low, you get swamped. I'd understand no more than doubling the wallpaper (especially CG) pricing. Due to it being the hardest. I only requested it because I need a new background. Find me a good enough background, I'll go one size down.

Nah it's not really the size that is the problem, since most of the things I do is actually at a higher resolution than I give. The main problem is the landscape composition. I've actually spent like 3-4 hours so far just fiddling with composition and scrapping pieces because they either didn't fit, was compositionally unsound, or didn't showcase the characters.

Anyhow, I don't really want to raise the prices too much, because I find some of the characters with no money are actually the coolest to draw. My worst nightmare is to draw someone with chaosgloves/obbyarmor/tormentedshield/voltaicspear because it looks like pretty much everyone else :\

I'm just fiddling around with the idea of prices right now, nothing set in stone yet.

It's a lot easier to do environments than character showcase for me too and all too often I have to scrap the [great] idea because the character ends up playing second fiddle, either being too small or not showing off its most flattering pose [rofl].

80% of the time it takes for me to do a commission is just me sitting around puttering with the poses and composition. It really is quite annoying.
