Tabletop Guild Wars
Pistachio
Would anyone have an interest in such a thing? I know I enjoy tabletop games as well as computer games, and if there were a dice and paper version of Guild Wars I would definitely give it a shot. I could see it converting into a card game pretty easily, seeing as you could equate "builds" with a "deck".
From what I've heard the WoW CCG is wildly popular, but that's no surprise I guess.

Hell yeah.
But I'm a big tabletop RP fan. I think GW could be converted to that sort of thing pretty well, too. If I was better with system design things, I'd probably work out a way to do so myself.

Sure.....though I'm not sure how it will work. WoW has a RTS game and some of the Tabletops are based on that instead.

While there are others that would, I wouldn't. Now if they made a chess board....possibly...
HawkofStorms
Would be very cool. Really wouldn't be that hard to make some house rules. Just rename a few things from an existing system and start using GW lore for campaigns.
Helix Dreadlock
Yea, you could rubberband and everything! lol. Also=Permashadowform! Go! HAHAHA! I WIN! lol
glacialphoenix
*would be interested, too.

You don't even have to carry over the skill system at all really. I just think the lore is rich enough to allow for some seriously creative dungeon crawls and quests.
Verene
The Scorpion Knight
That would be pretty interesting to play.
Marty Silverblade
iirc wasn't GW loosely based around MtG as opposed to DnD like a lot of other MMO's? Try that perhaps, it's fun.

I could see something like this spring up out of the community. It would definitely be an interesting project for some GW fans out there with more time on their hands than I.

I dont really see much of a point to this though :P if you enjoy it okay for you... but why sit at a table when you can just sit infront of the computer and play?

Because playing a video game and playing a tabletop RP are two completely and totally different things... |
I'm in a tabletop game with friends right now, two of who play GW as well - and we enjoy both types.

I can think of nothing i'd enjoy less.

Pokemon cards. But with monsters and NPCs from the game.

Skill-Card card game could be interesting. I actually have an idea how this could work. CYA in two days.
RPG could easily use gurps as basis, few house rules make make skill system work and you are set.

This is not a table top game, but it uses a card system where GW has the attribute point and 8 skill allocation system.

I don't think it would interest me much. I'm not much of a fan of rp games outside of those played on computer/consoles.
And wow can die a fast but painful death as far as I'm concerned.

GW already has it's own pokemon game, its called polymock.
That aside, not my cup of tea, but in the gaming realm I could see this selling decent.

And GW, as far as video games go, would lend itself very well to a TTRPG. Maybe not necessarily playing the actual plots of the games, but with such a large world with so much lore...could be done, very easily.
HawkofStorms
People really don't understand that tabletops are more about creativity and roleplaying then about phat loot and killing (although that is important to some min-maxers).

As a d&d lover
I would love to see GW made into a tabletop game.
Wait lemme grab my d20s

Umm no thanks. Table top games are ok but a bit too nerdy for my liking.

I started one I never ended up finishing a while back:

i would LOVE this i think you could quite easily put different species into chess sets, one each for ghostlies, charr, undead etc.
other than that someone like D&D could be interesting, though i've never played it myself i'd definitely try a gw version

table top GW = DnD?
considering that the differences are that your calculating weapon damage with bonuses and such by rolling the dice as opposed to having a computer "rolling" for you, and that your moving is a 4" piece of plastic or metal on turn based system as opposed to real time and 3D graphics... I'd say Table Top GW = DnD...

A standard d20 system wouldn't allow for a clean transition, in fact I don't think it would work at all for a non computerized Guild Wars.
Josh
They would nerf it.

Using any rule system would work with modifications. Just depends on what you already have. Hell, you could make a GW table top game using battle tech or warhammer 40k rules too!
Using cards instead of dice could work, just add in variant rules when creating the game.

When I think about what makes GW so special, I end up being reminded of Star Trek CCG, which had this strong mission focus and the teamwork aspects.

It seems somewhat neat but also pointless. All of the things in the card game would be offered in the computer game. Besides how many people do you know in RL that play guild wars? For me I know 2. It wouldnt be fun playing the same person constantly.

so it could actually get GW a lot more popularity you would never know, depends who took hold of it and marketed it
Bryant Again
In terms of a cardgame/set rule system, that would be pretty and interesting to play out. But in terms of role-playing:
Me and my friend have been starting up our own custom campaign based largely off of the Amber diceless system. I think it would be pretty kick-ass to start a Guild Wars themed one.
