Ok so I been catching up on titles and now I have almost 8 maxed. If I only stop at 10 maxed titles, will someone who has more titles maxed than me get more bonuses for Guild Wars 2 ? My entire hall is almost done except for the title monument.

The reason I ask is because why should someone receive more bonuses for GW2 just because they have more time to max titles. Granted, Guild Wars 2 is still a ways to go and it seems like if you are a pve player you are being forced to title grind just for extra stuff that you may or may not need. We still do not even know what we will be getting for title maxing.

I just hope that when it comes down to making an official statement on the HOM, that Arenenet takes into consideration that just because someone may have less titles than somoene or someone who may not be into title grinding but has bene playing a long time should deserve something too.

The bonus' would have to really be worth the amount of time being put it otherwise I'd imagine they'll get soem worse feedback than the initial HoM.

It's not that hard to get the titles but I know where you're coming from, but doubtful it will change.

From what I understand, each title added to the HOM will unlock a bit of content in GW2. Whether it be weapon skins, special emotes, or whatever - it will not give anyone an advantage over anyone else. (Other than the e-peen enhancement)

I'm hoping it's something in looks only - really cool something(like auras were before everyone had them) that doesn't give an advantage over other people straight out of the gate.

Will be interesting to see how they do it; for example, maybe each separate title you have maxed, gives you 1 point to "spend", and you can spend these on reward(s).

So while it's true that people who maxxed 30 titles will be able to get more (all?) of the rewards on the list, all of those choices may be not particularly desirable anyway. Meanwhile people who have only 5, or 10 or whatever, will still be able to pick the most desirable (for them) rewards from the list.

This is one way to keep both camps happy.

Between my two accounts - I should have around 5k hours logged in.
My main guy has 3 maxed titles. And that probably won't change.

So yeah, I am most anxious to see how they incorporate this.

In the end you cannot expect them to hold back on title maxers, after all the KoABD title itself is a title that can be maxed.

Really, if someone puts effort in and goes way over 10 titles, you have to expect they'll get something for it.

but the thing is they don't have to be equal to any effort we've put in. They never had to give anything extra for gw2 and that they are. The whole point of getting titles is not for gw2 remember...
That aside i just think you gotta complete the HoM to get the rewards. No one title is worth more than another in terms of rewards. Completing would mean 5/5 armors etc not every one.

All speculation, nobody knows.

My own expectation is that you'll get something for each visible monument. ie. if you have five titles on display, you'll get the maximum goodies... and nothing for any other titles which aren't on display.

However, the extra titles might not be wasted, because I also suspect your KoaBD rank will give something additional (because the appearance of your HoM changes with each KoaBD rank).

Whatever the benefits are for HoM monuments, IMO they're sure to be cosmetic only, shiney baubles.

They have stated it will be only cosmetic and not a power boost or anything like that..

So let me ask you this OP

Why should you get the same ammoount of extra skins or whatever if you didnt put in as much work as the other guy?

Would this be fair you say...

I maxed 25 titles..with a full hall from the armor sets to the minis to the pets and heroes and D weapons.....

I wouldnt be pissed if i dont get those other extra 6 skins or whatever or if some 1 gets more then me...Why are you so upset about it in the first place...As previous posters stated Anet said it wont be tactical advantage....So lighten up and enjoy the game for the game not to be Uber and have more e-peen then the other guy -_-...

No not saying in angry voice.. just giving an advice no personal attaks of any sort.. thank you and have fun

They would also have to account for the different difficulties, such as you can't compare a rank 8 hero with a rank 12 one, or a zaishen 3 with a zaishen 12. Unlike the weapon And armour monuments, the title one would be really hard to design. Personally I doubt they will do much with the itle monument, after all they only mentioned that they will add the weps from hom to gw2.

Speaking as someone who has only ONE title (Protector of Tyria, duh), I believe more titles should give you more virtual stuff.

I mean, my guess is most of this stuff will be replaced by cooler looking stuff available in GW2.

And, on the off-chance that the coolest looking thing in the game comes from 10+ titles?

Well, if you really want it, max the titles. I'm slowly working on titles, but if I don't max anymore before GW2, then that's OK.

IMO, the point of any game is to have fun.

Well you are right, people who have maxed out 25 titles should get the extra something but I remember when Guild Wars wasn't about titles. It was about just playing pvp or pve and having fun. What do you say to the loyal fan who has been with Guild Wars from the start and just because he/she opts not to do their HOM. Do you say , " sorry you don't get something because you didn't grind for achievements" but thanks for buying Guild Wars ?

For me whatever titles I can max is great and I'm not expecting the world from Arenanet but it just seems that the HOM could have been done alot better.

Ive been playing only a half a year after release -_-

I just joined guru 2 years ago -_-

And AWS A vetrean player i believe that those veterans should recieve more content for their work....You are loal player you get what you get.. you said all is filled but the titles..so you had time to grind for armor and minis but not for titles....Not even grind...

The only titles i grinded was......EotN titlesand thats about it everything else came from play... oh and Cart but that was in concucsion with Vanquisher.. regardless

Once again you get as much as you worked for.. if you are upset cause your not gonna get a cpecial starter gear that others will because they got more titles then..then by all means be upset over such a silly thing...

But but i vote for some sort of skin or extra for playing a game for as long as people plyed it.. starting from 2005 all the way till release that way youd be pleased?

Who said Maxing titles was pure grind it was fun and was mostly a by-product so i gues....i had more fun then you =).. once again nothing personal just stating my point of view.. and no im not aiming for more titles.. 25 titles=Maxed HoM

Actually yes, yes you do. I don't PvE so I don't have maxed titles. I already know I won't be getting things because I don't want to grind for the achievements. I feel the reward for simple things is not worth spending a lot of time doing something I don't deem as fun. Therefore I, and other like me, have absolutely no right to complain about not getting the same favor as a guy who did more HoM stuff than us. And yes it is fair. He/She took the time to do it and I did not. Would I like to be rewarded for the stuff I enjoy doing? I definitely wouldn't mind, but I'm doing that kind of stuff without the benefit of knowing I'm getting a reward in GW2. So I obviously don't need one for motivation now do I?

And Guild Wars is not about title grinding. Guild Wars is whatever you make it out to be. For some, Guild Wars is a way to spend time with their family (instead of board games or something), for others it is title grinding, for me it is competing with others for the sheer enjoyment of it. This game is whatever you want it to be, not what Anet wants it to be.

See perfect example of sanity...

No no ofcourse every 1 is going to be rewarded regardless..... Im pretty sure there will be a common reward for all GW1 players....PvP rewards should be greater then PvE (No i dont PvP like a horse.. but i have my share of battle scars and burn marks =))

Titles are not even that much of a grind.....u can get 10 in probably about 2-3 weeks from just nomal gameplay. Protector Cantha (1) Elona (2) Tyria (3) (and those are just titles that can be gotten by gameplay alone not grinding), Dwarven (4) (easy if you try each dungeona at least once), Norn (5) (for this one let's say u use a full EotN book to get a point boost, rest shouldn't be too hard), Drunkard (6) (some ppl don't have the cash for this one, but easy as hell since u just stay drunk while u go about regular gameplay), Skill Hunter Elona (7) Tyria (8) Cantha (9) Legendary (10) (the skill hunter ones are a bit of a grind but if you cap as you go through regular gameplay, when you're done with each expansion, there shouldn't be that many skills left uncapped that couldn't be done in no time). And there u are at 10.

Now I've been playing for about just under 3 years, and my 30 were maxed about 6 months ago. I grinded a bit but it wasn't as hard as people imagine. I go to school and work so I'm not on GW 24/7. The hardest were probably the party, alcohol, and sugar just because they were money guzzling titles. The rest was easy. Guardian titles were a nice challenge and so was Vanquishing.

As a PvEer mainly, I don't even know what really left to do in PvE after playing this long than farm, FoWsc UWsc Urgoz Deep Doa......and in some sense aren't those a grind also to an extent?

But I get where you're coming from. This must really suck for the PvPer who hates PvE.

And on a side note.....maxing those titles was fun but I'd probably never do it again. lol.

I don't think any HoM addition will give an actual playing advantage over another player just cosmetic extras however there may be a scale on what bonus level you acheive in relation to how full each particlular monument is.

For instance , ive seen some people postulate that putting minipets into the HoM will unlock a free minipet as soon as you buy GW2. If you have 3 pets in HoM you could get a "white" Whiptail whereas if you had 35 then you might get a "Green" Kuuna. If you see how i mean , rewards for everyone but slightly cooler ones for the more you do

i myself have played for 4 years now and just finally got my 16th title maxed.....all the easy ones if u ask me.....no vanquishing, cartographer, chest running, id'ing.....i did grind a few EoTN titles but mostly norn when it was for ursan, and i just play casually and get them slowly....next on my list is asura and then on to vanq/cart.

what if each title you got gives you a free unlock of a skill.....(pve only skills)
or a maxed weapon, or a maxed weapon mod, u wont get the full benefit of them till u play awhile but u get them and can use them for free

or if u do get God walking title then you should have an ora about u because at that point you are the ancestor of a God!!!

anyways, i do think that you should get extras for it, all of it, titles, armors, minis, weapons, and pets

weapon monument maxed = cool weapon
pet/hero monument maxed = cool hero/pet
armors monument maxed = cool armor or dye for it
minis monument maxed = cool mini pet
God Walking amongst mear mortals = ora!

and if u want any of these u can go back to GW1 and get them always!!!(cause when 2 comes out they arent gonna shut this one down)

just my thoughts cause thats why they made titles anyway

Yeah same here, Hoping it's either a title or a visual thing for free for getting stuff in gw1, something that can also be purchased later on in gw2 if you are starting GW2 brand new right off the bat. But if they make it some sort of advantage over people who didn't title grind in gw1 that would be stupid.

The one and only truth is that i know someone who heard from a guy who is married with the sister of a serious fellow who knows a girl who used to feed the pet cat of a developer , so as i said, the truth is that in Guild Wars 2 you will get a CAT MINIATURE only if you have GWAMM in the Hall of Monuments.

Jeff Strain: I don't know exactly what the timing will be, but I will tell you that we aren't going to allow new players to Guild Wars 2 to go back and get those items in the Hall of Monuments. Our intent is to reward players who are playing Guild Wars right now. ... So I can't imagine that we'll let somebody coming into Guild Wars six months after Guild Wars 2 ships and letting them have rights to all of the same opportunities our original players had.

Well its actually a right course of action in my opinion. Regardless of wether it will prolonge the life of GW 1 or not GW2 will take over evntually and im sure that in 6 month most veterans will transfer over with the achievemnts blazing in the ir looks etc.

I mean.. why would you let a new GW2 player after 3 years of playing GW2 all of the sudden get a look that originaly was meant for gw1 player.....destroys all Veteranness of players....

From a money making business perspective they should make the rewards in gw2 be so good that new players in gw2 will want to buy gw1 to get the hom done. The old gw1 players who move on to gw2 should be excited about this as that will create a market for their old gw1 items to sell to new players. (Think of the exchange rate between presearing and postsearing that exists now, and use your imagination for new players in gw2 who want to go back to gw1 and buy some titles/objects for hom. That should create a similar type of exchange market between gw1 and gw2 that currently exists between pre and post searing. So existing players of gw1 who bank a lot of wealth/title stuff/objects will do well.) This will sell millions of extra copies of gw1 making the company some a lot of net income. I find it hard to believe that smart business people would pass up that golden opportunity to drop a lot of dollars to the bottom line. Cutting off new players to gw1 hom benefits or making the benefits trivial is short sighted thinking. Anet, feel free to hire me as a consultant and I will help you make a lot of money because I think you need it...

you also have to realize you get the rewards for the monuments in the HoM. You don't have to have any maxed titles to get a full hall of monuments(statues only) to change the appearance of the HoM you would. For Example: here is how to get 5 statues in your HoM w/out getting a single maxed title.
1. beat tyria
2. beat cantha
3. beat NF
4. r3 in skillz title
5. r3 glad
you can also just beat FoW, UW, Sorrow's Furnace, DoA etc. to get statues and then buy weapons, minis, pets, armor etc. The only thing maxed titles affects is the appearance of your hall which will play into GW2 I would imagine.

Also could be interpreted as only meaning players who join GW1 6 or more months after GW2 is released, not pre-existing players. So basically irrelevant to any of us.

As far as I can tell Maxing titles is not the whole point of the HoM. It's about unlocking statues.

You should be getting something for every mini dedicated, every hero armor upgraded, every elite pet dedicated, every title maxed, or that you get a statue for, in the case, for example of the lucky title track where you can display it long before you max it.

Every set of elite armor you have, every destroyer or tormented weapon will unlocked "something."

As already stated, that something will be something that doesn't give you a gameplay advantage. Elite type armor, cool looking weapon skin, access to heroes that are specific only to people who have unlocked them by playing GW1 and minipets. That's probably what you're working towards. You may even have some titles in GW2 that you can only get from play GW1.

It's status symbol stuff, which is fine by me. I'd like to be able to show the GW2 community that I've been involved with GW for a long time, and was moderately successful at it.

That interview is almost two years old. While some of the devs may have intended to "lock" the HoM on release of GW2 back before they released EotN, I don't think they still intend to.

I think they've changed their tune. If a future reward has no more definition than "it'll be cool," it's foolish to expect everyone to clamor for it. I doubt I'm the only one that won't bother with a title or an addition to the HoM now unless it's fun and rewarding to me now.

Also, realize that while the GW2 rewards for HoM will hopefully have at least a couple things that everyone can enjoy having, it probably won't provide the "coolest thing in the game!!!" There would be less incentive to play GW2 if the best thing in it came from playing GW1.

As to the OP, sorry Buster but no one can answer that. GW2 isn't out yet, nor have they made any official announcements about the details of how it'll all work. This is all speculation.

I've been playing since launch and don't have a single maxed title. I doubt I ever will, yet I put in plenty of time playing just like most of us here. Not that I really care about getting extra goodies in GW2 for maxing titles in GW1, but I can understand the argument against it. Players like myself, who have put in just as much time as someone who has maxed titles, aren't given anything in return for their loyalty to the game, because of an arbitrary decision on how that game time should be spent. I understand that at its core it's a "marketing scheme" of sorts. Allude to the fact that filling out your Hall of Monuments now will get you rewards later and that's supposed to get people playing. Well, what about those of us that don't need that incentive to play, and play anyway? Nada. That doesn't make sense at all.

nice catch, Giga

as a matter of principal, I agree there's merit to limiting the window, after GW2 is released, to reaping the benefits of building the HoM. However, from a business standpoint, I'm rather suprised. This would be a very nice incentive for those who never got GW1, but are enjoying GW2, to go back (and shell out a few quid).

Personally, I just want to know what the rules, benefits, requirements, etc actually will be. And no, I'm not holding my breath; I'm barely touching HoM until I know how it's all gonna square away. However, considering HoM has been hyped for years, and we still barely know anything about how it bridges GW1 and GW2, I think it's about time to throw us some bones.
