Intense amount of err7/err58
ashes
Ever since the update, i havent been able to play GW - simply cant login.
I get err7 and err58 (Which is the same) all the time. My internet is fine as it is, only GW causes problems.
I logged on short after the update to check it out, got the first err7 after 30mins and havent been able to logon since.
Any suggestions?

I'm getting Code=058 problems since yesterday. For me it was related to the update in combination with Eset Smart Security 3.
A solution is mentioned here:
http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsof...3104 #article.
The strange thing is that it has been working fine for a long time but suddenly NOD32/Eset began to block GW.

ArenaNet needs to update it's knowledge base. The procedure is a bit different. You can do it in advanced setup.
First try to Disable the antivirus protection to see if that fixes it. If it does, re-enable it and then use the advanced setup with the instructions provided.

Try Start > Run > and type in: CMD
Read this entire thing before you do anything: type in the CMD window: ipconfig/release THEN wait a sec and do ipconfig/renew
More:
This might sound crazy but unplug your internet modem for 30 seconds then plug it back in and let it restart and such. Then try GW, if that didn't work do the same with your router and try again. If that didn't work actually reset your router with the reset button usually located on the back.
And one last crazy thing, IF you guys leave your computer on for weeks on end and this problem has happened and your computer has not been shut down since before this problem has been happening, shut it down for a sec then start it back up.
Before you say those won't work it's only GW, the internet is fine, think that it might be a setting changed within your router or something in the modem went haywire and to allow guildwars packets to connect properly again this might need to be done.
But a lot of stuff did break with the past updates.

This is the solution for Nod32 3:
Quote:
1. Got to Setup, then Antivirus and Antispyware, then Web Access Protection, then HTTP, then Web Browsers. 2. Once there, click on Add and select the Guild Wars excecutable, Gw.exe, which is typically located in C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 3. Once that is done, click on the box next to the new entry so that the checkbox has a red X in it. |

I dont think its our connections, i think the problem is on anet's side.

I'm not facing any problems at all, but make sure gw.exe is in the exception list of the IMON of NOD32 (it worked for me like 3 months ago). So I don't think the problem is on anet's side but its lying in between.
don richardos
Well if i had NOD32 then u mybe had a point..but i didnt so its all anet's fault
caxman
Problem is, cant access the website to contact anet tech support

It seems that all the firewall problems stem from people using NOD32
Im using AVG for antivirus and the windows firewall, ive made sure GW is on the exceptions and ive opened the ports it recommends.

well ''alot'' of people with the same firewall problem on the same time is a bit weird..and there already was alot of lagg/DC's for days so its just anet..but because they never look here ofc and i cant go to guildwars.com or the support i just need to wait before they do something...(if it will be aslong as XTH im gonna play runescape /not)
caxman
need someone to direct them here, or go onto tech support and ask for a solution for us

If you're experiencing issues connecting or of you're lagging out, could you let me know what region you're connecting from? We've had reports from Europe about this recently, and our team's taking a look at those, but it would be useful to know whether this is happening outside of Europe, too.

Im connecting from England

Assuming its not a client side problem, either its our ISPs end or ANet have routing issues from their web servers to certain parts of the internet.
UK here.

Am from the UK.
Am glad you know something about this already.
Looking forward to the solution.

From the current reports we get, it looks like that there is an issue with one of the peering providers, so depending on how you are routed, you can either connect or not.
For your information and entertainment while we try get to the bottom of this:
Peering
Routing
Hope you find it informative, i used to do this for a living ^^
