Support's view on potentially abusive behaviour

Here in brazil the same thing happens, calling someone black is actually offensive because it refers to the collor.

Plus, it shouldnt be compared a racial attack to being called carebearfag.

I find it interesting that the OP gets 'insulted' for carebear and then proves that fact by reporting to get revenge on a silly insult.

What makes you a carebear and retarded, is that you actually took screenshots and went through ANET's more complicated process in order to try to ensure a ban for that guy. You could have done a simple /report, but we now all know that you are a vindictive little <word here> who was thankfully thwarted by people who have more brains than you do.

He doesn't merely report, he takes a screenshot and sends in a private ticket to ANET. I think we can all agree this carebear <word here> was pretty vested in the outcome, even though the tone of his OP would indicate otherwise.


When I have a bad day, I don't start taking screenshots and sending them to ANET.

I sent the report after the match was over.
Does the /report function work when I am not in the same map as the guy I want to report?

I had issues with the term "fag" rather than "carebear".

The "bad day" in question was the result of a gay hate crime we witnessed in Slovenia a day before. A guy I know was pushed to the floor, received multiple kicks to the head and was slightly burned with the torch, while the 7 guys who attacked him yelled "death to fags". That happened at a gay poetry evening. And after this was reported by one of our main news stations - there were additional threats that the bar that held the reading will be burned down to the ground by the end of the week.
That's why I decided to stand up to being called a fag to the guy in the game. I do not approve of that kind of language and the incident of the previous day reminded me that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for me to NOT speak up against it.

See.. its all about YOUR interpretation of the word... if you think it was insulting to call you a cigarette then by all means THANK YOU ANET FOR DISREGARDING it.. if you took it in the SECOND meaning which is made by silly bunch of hillbillys then the problem is wihtin your understanding and view on the world.. My avatar is not an orange bull, it is a conglomeration of animals from a very old tv show. All words have mutliple meanings and just because one or two of the meanings may be innocent the third mat be very offensive. Do you really think the person meant to call him a cigarette? I think not, the meaning of the word is in the context in which it was used.

Okay, while we yet again see the varying standards ANet again apply to their own rules, you have to question should it have ever gotten this far? Come on, I mean if someone in the playground at school used to call you something even moderately offensive (admittedly school was in black and white for me ), how many picked up their "skirts" and ran to their teacher and said "Sir Sir... Smithy said a BAD word to me, I want him punished!!". You dealt with it there and then. And that's how alot of these situations, imho, should be handled in game.

If someone calls me anything once, it's a case of shrugging shoulders, wash it off and carry on. A few more times and okay, maybe borderline - continually, yes, one get's off one's butt and fights back. But for this situation, it should never have made it to Support. And they handled it perfectly well *in this particular case*. A simple "why tyvm" probably would have thrown the offender off enough to walk away with a smile on the OPs face

K, thread has run it's course when we are now talking about avatars, cigarettes and flaming each other. I think that upier definitely has enough feedback from the community on both sides of the issue to understand both points of view.
