Wow, gg anet. At my company its pretty bad practice "banning" paying customers. Please lets get this sorted out, as its not he first time.
Fraud checks is the way to go, but this seems a bit excessive!

3 hours? you should be glad, I haven't been able to get on for at least 13 now (11 hours since last reply from support, and that mail only said they'll get back to me after looking into it)..
Not giving up hope yet though, as I know I haven't violated anything unless something was changed last night, so I'm almost certain they'll sort it out somehow

A friend of mine also got a code 045 permanent ban last night on both his accounts. The reason was apparently 3rd party hackers and terminated the accounts to protect them, as someone else has said also on this thread.
Its become a bit of problem all over sudden, but he got his main account back this morning, waiting on his other one now, took about 12-20 hours till they fixed it.
Send a ticket through support and be patient ladies and gents they will get to you eventually. Just dont overly e-mail them it wont help your case.

I dont know why, because for 2-3 weeks only play GW to make Zaishen Missions, Yakkington and sell in Kamadan.
I dont use bots, i dont insult anybody, or something, only missions Zaishen :S

Yayayay! Finally got back in! Or at least will, reinstalled the game this morning when I was frustrated over the ban so still got 25k files to load to get into my guild hall..
Reason was 3rd party hacking attempt here as well, so guessing that's the case with at least 99% of the rest of you

Yeah they told me that someone like, hacked into my thing. Some bs. I think they just had some sort of malfunction. Just be patient everyone. Took me about 5-6 hours to have my account back.

Last night 4 people within my alliance got bans, 3 of them perma Code 45.
1 of them was all cleared up within a couple of hours.
1 was hacked and when he logged on later in the day had a Code 45. Still dealing with customer service.
I forgot who was the 4th, there was just so much talk trying to figure out how 4 people were banned within an hour.

I also received a Code=045 ban today, after not having been logged into the game for some days, although I have never used a debit or credit card to buy anything from the in game store, never have. American player by the way. If this is a 3rd party hacking accounts, then it is a decidedly bad play on A-Net's behalf to not send a general e-mail to the accounts that may have been compromised, instead of just perma-banning them with no explanation. I have never personally had a warning or ban of any sorts, so this was extremely upsetting when I tried logging in today. I submitted a ticket then searched for and found this topic. Glad it wasn't only me but it sucks all the way around just the same.

If I remember correctly, the only time I get a Code=045 was when someone changed my password.

The error Code=045 on my screen says "Your Guild Wars account has been terminated for a breach of the User Agreement and/or Rules of Conduct. This action is permanent (Code=045)" So as I see it, I havn't insulted anyone, bought/sold gold for real world cash, botted, leeched, or afk farmed, and have been playing since October 2005, without even so much as a warning. So yeah, I was upset at seeing that today.

I'd like to know more about this third party hacking business. Has anyone who's been banned then unbanned because their account had had a hack attempt against it come back to their account and found stuff missing, or is it all ok? Are there any people who've been hacked rather than banned in the last day or so? Has ANet found out who/what's doing it yet and put in safeguards to stop it succeeding, or are the rest of us still vulnerable to whatever it is that's been trying to hack people's accounts?

I have decided that I want to buy a makeover thingy, but since I got no credit card a friend of mine will use his and I hand him the cash. I wonder if using a credit card on another person than the name the account is registered with would cause my account to be banned?

My account has been restored, same 3rd party reasoning. Sounds to me like its a-net that got hacked and we were the bystanders that got the fallout from it.

It says my account has been terminated as well. this i frustrating! 4000+ hours, tons of achievements, titles, elite armors, money, all down the drain. Although I do find it odd that we're all writing these posts on the day.... i hope it's a big error. I've already emailed support. I have no reason to be banned.. I have done nothing against the EULA and rules of conduct. I hope i can get back in my account.

I have changed my password, and fortunately no items or cash were removed from my account. I'd still like to know, however, if this was "a hacker that obtained account credentials through an external source and accessed player accounts using the account/user name and password" as Gaile claims, how this wouldn't be a "breach within Guild Wars" seeing as "a hacker obtained account credentials through an external source and accessed player accounts using the account/user name and password" Just a thought.

Permanent ban here too (code 045). I haven't logged in since July 16 and just discovered today the ban. I haven't done anything in particular, just played with h/h for an hour. (maybe the henchies /reported me for abuse
